System Failed - Can't Install In 64bit Mode
Feb 28, 2010I WAS in 64 bit mode but had a system failure and had to reinstall.Since then I haven't been able to install in 64 bit mode. No matter what I try it always installs the 32 bit version.I've even re-partitioned my hard drive in order to get a completely fresh install. But nothing seems to work.Windows "knows" my system in 64 bit capable. In the Control Panel - View basic info about your computer it shows my processor as "AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+ 2.4 GHz".Is there a way coerce a 64 bit install?

Jan 3, 2011I just formatted my computer and after completion of my install of Windows 7 I noticed that it installed the 32-bit version, yet for the last year it has been running the 64-bit version!! I have no idea why it won't let me install the 64-bit version, I even tried another fresh install of Windows 7 but I got the same result. Thinking it was hardware, I ran the Windows Experience Index and then clicked "View details etc.." and it indeed did say that my system IS 64-bit capable!What am I doing wrong?? Or what am I not doing in order to reach the [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue !important]64-bit[/COLOR][/COLOR] install threshold?

64bit Install Fails - Windows Could Not Configure One Or More System Components
Jul 11, 2012I am performing a clean install of Windows 7 64bit Home Premium with SP1 integrated on a Dell Studio XPS 8100, and after the first reboot during installation, I get a message "Windows could not configure one or more system components. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then restart the installation." This is a 64 bit machine. Was running Windows 7 64bit Ultimate until yesterday.
Tried partitioning/cleaning/wiping the drives in so many ways I couldn't even count, including "clean all" from repair disk, booting to ubuntu live cd and making sure no rogue filesystems/partitions exist, letting windows installer create partitions, precreating the partitions in diskpart/ubuntu. Have tried several iso's and several cd's/usb drives.
Messed with some bios settings, but to no avail, and made sure my bios was up to date. Downloaded drivers from dell and loaded chipset drivers pre-installation just in case. Have removed all extraneous devices from system excepting the keyboard, mouse, HD, CD-drive, and video card. The 32bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium installed completely fine, with no issues whatsoever, even without pre-loading the chipset drivers.

Sep 19, 2012I had 32 bit Windows 7 home premium provided by OEM. Recently I purchased Windows 7 professional 64 bit in order to increase my memory.(My system is 64 bit capable) I followed [1]. I am using USB for installation. I booted the system with USB. Then at disk manager I deleted all the partitions(including recovery ) Then I refreshed and click next and I got an error saying setup unable to create system partition.

Dec 4, 2011Here's the thing, I'm trying to get my old Thrustmaster Tacticalboard game controller peripheral going again, problem is that it's a bit old by now, bought it in 2003.One of the things that are necessary for it to work is the driver package is supposed to install a virtual Thrustmaster Keyboard and Thrustmaster Mouse drivers during the installation, but this isn't happening for me.Drivers are 32bit, I'm running Win 7 64bit, drivers for this peripheral are no longer developed by Thrustmaster so there is no point askinasically Windows 7 installs it's default keyboard and mouse driver for this device and ignores the ones provided by the drivers package, which renders the device half-useless, keybinding isn't possible since the software doesn't see any device it's meant to modify, can't change any settings which isn't of any use for me since it's in need of pre-configuration to adjust it to your own individual needs/preferences.Is there any way I can enforce use of these drivers? Or enforce the installer to put it's own drivers to use just for this device?

Dec 24, 2009I have a new (replacement for a failed drive) Hitachi 500GB HDD that I'm trying to install Windows 7 64 bit on (full install disk). I have Win XP 32 on drive D: of another drive and want to dual boot. I used PMagic to partition the new drive into 2 250 GB partitions, the first as C: drive, active and primary---formatted NTFS. Thinking I would install on that partition.
When I run install on Windows 7 64 I get to the window where you can select upgrade or custom and I select custom install and select the c: drive. I then get a cannot find a system drive error message. I went bak and removed the partitions thinking maybe it would work on unallocated drive space same error message. I deleted the partition inside Windows 7 from the same screen and formated it there too and still get the same message. Diagnostics show that the drive is good. What am I doing wrong?

Feb 20, 2012I have had Win 7 64bit installed on my C: Partition which contains System Files and Program Files. Data is stored on Partition E:. The System has functioned perfectly until straight after installing updates on 16/02/2012. I believe some of these updates were: KB2660465, KB2645640, KB2654428 and an Office 2007 Update. The Update Install procedure called for a System Restart which for unknown reasons booted to Safe Mode. I performed a Restart which booted correctly and I continued to work for the rest of the day. Next morning it booted to ChkDsk running, which apparently found and rewrote Orphaned Files. This activity caused me serious concern.
I ran scans with MSE and MalwareBytes and both were clean.I decided to perform a System Restore back to 12/02/2012 which was a known good Restore Point, created by Critical Update. This Restore has now been running for four hours with the HDD Light blinking. This makes me believe that there is in fact something happening on the HDD, what I do not know.I am aware the System Restore must not be stopped once started. The Question now is: How much longer should I allow it to run?? or Should I kill it now???If I were to Kill It now, what would I then have to do???I have never known System Restore to take so long before. I see this as being abnormal. I do not want to destroy two months of installation work.
Windows 7 64bit - System Snapshot For Future Restoration
Feb 15, 2013I usually restore machine to factory setting once a year, for various reasons. Although I keep system fairly clean, it still gets slow. I hate spending time to install all the programs and OS updates. Since XP days, I used to take snapshots so that instead of restoring to factory setting, I can restore to a setting where all programs are installed. So far NONE of the programs I used worked as I wished, I could always find some leftover folders/files. I don't remember all the programs I used over the period of time.
Now I am on Windows 7 Home edition 64-bit. I have tried its in-built backup but it just did not work. It failed to recognize the back up. I tried system restore point but its rather pathetic, the system restore points just vanish. I think it keeps last 10 or some restore points. I have not tried any other programs on Windows 7 but Macrium Relfect free edition and Paragon backup and recovery 2012, free edition is under consideration to take a system snapshot.

Windows 7 64bit - System Restore Menu Not Showing Up
Jul 24, 2012Currently running windows 7 64 bit. My problem is that my windows will not boot up and will just sit at the 'loading' screen forever and nothing will happen. I've tried using the system restore function but whenever it loads to the blue screen the window pops up for not even a second and goes away. I've tried running a repair/install disk and running in safe mode does not work either. Also the F8 functions won't do anything either, restore to a working point etc. I've scanned for malware and nothing shows up. Windows was working just fine until I normally restarted it and this problem occurred. I'm not sure what the next step I should take to fix this problem is.

The problem is, when I put the third card in the system, the system boots, gets passed the bios (where I can press esc to access bios) but then it takes me to a black screen with no further activity. It's when I place the third card in, is when this black screen occurs without having any message.Maybe the systems confused with this third card. Maybe it's something in windows 7 settings. Or maybe bios.I have installed this exact firepro driver: ATI FireGL?Do I need to have SLI or CrossFire to run multiple video cards? How do i do that for these video cards I have?What are the settings in the BIOS that will enable these 4 video cards.The expansion slots on the mb are compatible with the 4 cards and it does have enough grunt to handle these cards, but it's now getting all 4 cards to operate together on the os.
