Windows 7 Will Not Install 64bit On System, Only 32bit?
Jan 3, 2011I just formatted my computer and after completion of my install of Windows 7 I noticed that it installed the 32-bit version, yet for the last year it has been running the 64-bit version!! I have no idea why it won't let me install the 64-bit version, I even tried another fresh install of Windows 7 but I got the same result. Thinking it was hardware, I ran the Windows Experience Index and then clicked "View details etc.." and it indeed did say that my system IS 64-bit capable!What am I doing wrong?? Or what am I not doing in order to reach the [COLOR=blue !important][COLOR=blue !important]64-bit[/COLOR][/COLOR] install threshold?

Install An Old Program Which Works On Windows 7 32bit Onto Windows 7 64bit?
Mar 7, 2012I have an old DOS cookbook program which contains all my old recipes from many years. I have it installed on my Windows 7 32-bit system and would like to put it on my laptop for use on the road. Laptop is Windows 7 64-bit and I get a message that it is not compatible. Is there a workaround so I can use that program on the 64-bit system? I tried choosing the compatibility to work with Windows XP 3 but still get that incompatible message.

32bit Program No Longer Working On 64bit Windows 7
Sep 19, 2012I recently built a new computer using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and it is fully up to date. I am trying to run 3D Studio Max 2009 32bit but it wont run. The splash screen will show for a few milliseconds, then disappear, and nothing will happen.My old computer had Windows 7 Home 64bit, and I could run the same copy of 3D Studio Max 32bit easily.3D Studio Max 2009 64bit runs perfectly, just not the 32bit version (both installed at the same time). I absolutely need to use the 32bit version because I have to use a custom exporter / plugin that only works with the 32bit 3DSM.
This is a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate.

Jun 3, 2009I've installed 64bit version of windows 7 for first time ever,and I see that I have 2 Program Files folders in C partition(beside Program files in D partition ),Program Files 32bit&Program Files 64bit.
Is that normal,or maybe I have messed up something when I was making another partition.
And another question,if that is alright,then I'm suposed to install 32bit programs in Program Files 32bit folder,and 64bit programs in other folder,or Windows 7 do it by default?

Aug 5, 2011i recently downloaded a patch for this game (an unofficial one) and when i came to install it i get an error telling me that "this program is not compilable with your version of windows please contact the vendor for the correct version of the program (32bit or 64bit)" I've never encountered this problem before and as far as i know 32 bit programs should work on 64 bit OSes just fine (i have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit btw)i just want to know have you guys ever encountered such an error? how did you solve it/get past it?

Jul 3, 2011I'm getting a new Macbook Air without an optical drive in a couple of weeks so I'm trying to create a bootable USB drive so I can install Windows 7 on it on day one (can't live without a bit of Windows 7)
I'm currently running Windows 7 on my Dell XPS M1330 which is a 32 bit install, but I want to create a 64bit bootable USB (the new version of Windows 7 I have is 64 bit and the new computer has 4 gig of ram).
When I try and do this through Microsoft's USB DVD Download tool, though, I get an error:
'Files copied successfully. However, we were unable to run bootsect to make the USB device bootable. If you need assistance with bootsect, please click the "Online Help" link above for more information.'
The online help section didn't even mention bootsect, but I'm pretty sure this is an issue because I'm trying to create a bootable USB install stick of a 64 bit version from a 32 bit version.
Does anybody know a way around this without installing 64bit Windows 7 on my computer?

Dec 4, 2011Here's the thing, I'm trying to get my old Thrustmaster Tacticalboard game controller peripheral going again, problem is that it's a bit old by now, bought it in 2003.One of the things that are necessary for it to work is the driver package is supposed to install a virtual Thrustmaster Keyboard and Thrustmaster Mouse drivers during the installation, but this isn't happening for me.Drivers are 32bit, I'm running Win 7 64bit, drivers for this peripheral are no longer developed by Thrustmaster so there is no point askinasically Windows 7 installs it's default keyboard and mouse driver for this device and ignores the ones provided by the drivers package, which renders the device half-useless, keybinding isn't possible since the software doesn't see any device it's meant to modify, can't change any settings which isn't of any use for me since it's in need of pre-configuration to adjust it to your own individual needs/preferences.Is there any way I can enforce use of these drivers? Or enforce the installer to put it's own drivers to use just for this device?

Can I buy this upgrade copy of 7 professional, perform a clean install of windows prof. 64 bit with the upgrade disc, and then use my current oem 32 bit home disc and or license key, to validate that i do in fact have a copy of windows currently.
So technically I wont be "Upgrading" from 32 to 64, I will be re-installing. I have asked several tech savy friends, and while they don't think it cant work, they are unsure. Essentially I am asking if anyone knows what validation windows requires for its upgrade discs. I am given to understand it requires you to put in your original windows disc at some point, and i assume your original key, but will it accept a 32 bit disc/key?

Feb 8, 2013I was running Windows 7 ultimate x64 on my system (specs below), and I usually let my computer go into hibernate as it does that automatically after some time of system inactivity. Usually it will boot back up with no problem but then last week I tried to boot it up, it crashed and said system error.. I can't remember everything it said as it was obviously coded; since then I haven't been able to bring up the same warning screens.
Instead what happened was I reinstalled windows 7 on the same drive, formatted and all, and after installation it would finalize my settings, etc. After which, it would do a final reboot and, after bios goes, the computer hangs on a command prompt type screen with just a flashing underscore. Asking my family members, they proposed it might be a hardware issue so I bought a new hard drive (Seagate Barracuda 1tb.. not sure if that matters) and tried installing windows on that drive; same exact problem.
I also tried different combinations of RAM with my board, including just one stick of RAM, tried taking out the video card, tried taking out the sound card, etc. No dice. So my dad took his drive from his computer, that has an install of VISTA x64, and I plugged it into my computer and it worked perfectly. Conversely, I plugged my drive with the Windows 7 install into his computer and it also worked perfectly. We tried playing around with a few settings in the BIOS, etc. but nothing gives.

I have admin rights to this comp and I am running the install as an admin. The only thing I can think of is another program is using this .dll and making the install think its a read only. However I don't know how to find out what programs use what .dll's.
