Running 64bit Operating System And Applications On 32bit Processors

Jul 11, 2012

I tried installing a 64 bit Windows 7 on 32 bit processor(Dual Core, 2.80HGHz) having a DDR RAM of 2.5GB. But I could not do so due to 'Hardware Incompatibility'.I then tried to install a 32 bit-Windows7 Home premium, but again the same 'Hardware Incompatibility' appears on screen and prevents the installation.

Program Files 32bit - 64bit

Jun 3, 2009

I've installed 64bit version of windows 7 for first time ever, and I see that I have 2 Program Files folders in C partition(beside Program files in D partition ),Program Files 32bit&Program Files 64bit.

Is that normal,or maybe I have messed up something when I was making another partition.

And another question,if that is alright, then I'm suposed to install 32bit programs in Program Files 32bit folder, and 64bit programs in other folder,or Windows 7 do it by default?

What Is Mem Use For Multiple Instances Same 32bit Program On Windows 7 64bit

Feb 17, 2011

1. If I have a primarily single threaded 32 bit application that I want to run multiple instances of on a Win 7 64 bit machine...in order to take advantage of throughput on 2xquad core cpu's

a. Will each instance of the 32 bit application be limited to 2GB of 32 bit addressable memory?
b. Will the total memory available to all of the running 32 bit applications be only 3.25GB or will a machine with say 64GB of memory parse out 32 2GB partitions to 32 unique windows of an application?

2. If the application has driver interfaces only certified in Windows XP (and not functioning in Win 7 (32 or 64 bit)), what is the impact of question 1 above on running multiple instances of the same application in XP SP3 compatibility mode (e.g. are there additional memory/graphic limits imposed)?

32bit Program No Longer Working On 64bit Windows 7

Sep 19, 2012

I recently built a new computer using Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and it is fully up to date. I am trying to run 3D Studio Max 2009 32bit but it wont run. The splash screen will show for a few milliseconds, then disappear, and nothing will happen. My old computer had Windows 7 Home 64bit, and I could run the same copy of 3D Studio Max 32bit easily.3D Studio Max 2009 64bit runs perfectly, just not the 32bit version (both installed at the same time). I absolutely need to use the 32bit version because I have to use a custom exporter / plugin that only works with the 32bit 3DSM.

This is a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate.

Specs:
i7 3930K
Gigabyte G1 Assassin 2 Mobo
Gigabyte Geforce GTX 680
32GB G-Skill DDR3 RAM
OCZ 128GB SSD
Velociraptor 1TB HDD

Laptop is Windows 7 64-bit and I get a message that it is not compatible. Is there a workaround so I can use that program on the 64-bit system? I tried choosing the compatibility to work with Windows XP 3 but still get that incompatible message.

My PC has got Intel i865G Chipset with the built-in Intel 82865G GPU. I can't live without watching DVDs! I do have a DVD Player to watch them on my TV, but watching them on my PC is better for me.

32bit/64bit? ReadyBoost Or More RAM

Jul 14, 2009

I have been running build 7260 for awhile on my Asus notebook (see system spec) and so far have not had too many issues with it. Since I have done several succesive upgrades: Vista Business > Windows 7 build 7227 > Windows 7 build 7260 I have noticed some bugs creeping in (apps and games are crashing periodically or not loading correctly, gaming performance could be better). I attribute this to the string of successive upgrades.

I am going to wipe the drive and do a clean install of either the 32 or 64 bit RTM build in the next few days as it becomes available. One of the main goals is to increase performance with both applications and games. I use this laptop for work doing web development and heavy photoshop and graphics intensive work. I typically have many applications open at once using quite allot of system resources.

For this project I am going to:

A: Add another 2gb of ram to bring the total from 3gb to 4gb, or

B: Add a fast 16gb sd card to the system for the ReadyBoost feature, probably using around 6 to 9gb for this feature

For me to add the extra gig of ram it becomes more necessary to install the 64 bit build. If I use the 16gb sd card for ReadBoost, I can probably stick with 32 bit. None of my apps are currently 64 bit anyhow so I am not sure 64bit is the way to go right now.

I would like to hear people's thoughts on this and what others experiences have been especially using ReadyBoost on systems with over 2gb of memory..

reason is because I already have a lot of applications installed and configured in my machine and it will be time consuming to re-do the process from scratch.
