View 6 RepliesI am having an issue with all of my pictures in Windows 7. They do not appear as pictures, but icons. I have adjusted the slider on the right side but it only changes the size, not the actual content.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy promblem is, I shut down my computer earlier in the afternoon yesterday. I come back and turn it on and after running a minute or two, the fans are going like crazy and screen goes black, monitor goes to sleep. I manually hold down the power button, restart and choose the option to repair. Once again, after a minute or so fans start running hard, blacked out screen, monitor goes to sleep. My husband has tried F8 and we've tried going back to a restore point. It will start and sound normal, but when the fans start to run hard we know the screen will go black.Opinions from various people I know and from websites are stating it's my ATI Radeon graphics card. We've even tested the RAM, yet within those two minutes after start up, monitor goes black and states no signal or it's sleeping. We've also tried numerous monitors, just for sake of process of elimination.

View 3 Replies View RelatedAs Shown in picture below as an example, i have that small white icon appearing on my desktop icons, how this has occured and how i can get rid of it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedThis fuzzy white bar appears underneath of the icons in my taskbar at random times. It happens often when I open gmail, often when I hover over links (no particular links; randomly as far as I can tell) & sometimes it's just there. Sometimes it is behind only certain icons, sometimes it extends from the start button 3/4 of the way across the screen, & sometimes it is expanding / contracting. It started a couple weeks ago. Doesn't seem to mess with anything, but doesn't seem right either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo yesterday I turned off my PC. Nothing was wrong, everything was fine as it always was, nothing unusual, no random slowdowns, errors, etc. The next day I went to turn on my PC and that when it happened... the infamous Black Screen of Death. Just a black background with my cursor. I don't have the original disc with Windows because my friend upgraded my Windows XP to Windows 7.
- Task manager doesn't work. (ctrl + alt + del, and all the other ones that have to do with opening a window)
- Safe mode doesn't work, none of them.
- Tried PervX fix, didn't work. (Though I did it through Windows XP by booting to earlier version of Windows, so it probably wouldn't effect Windows 7 anyways.)
- Tried Malwarebytes on both of my HDD's, one containing Windows XP, the other containing Windows 7.
- Tried ALL options through the Repair Windows boot using F8.
- Tried most options I could think of in command prompt through the Repair Windows boot.
- Tried ALL other boot options in F8.
- Tried a lot of other stuff I can't remember, but I'm more than happy to hear replies with possible fixes, even if I tried them but didn't list.
I am running windows 7 basic on an acer netbook and every time I log on I get a desktop that is covered in black except for the application shortcut icons. When I highlight areas of the desktop by dragging the mouse over it it gets rid of the black. Also I've noticed as I type this my text is is being entered way after I type it in like one letter at a time very slowly.

i have been searching this and other forums for hours trying to find the cause/remedy for randomly appearing black boxes instead of desktop icons after boot up. its 50/50 wether normal icons appear or if black boxes appear. the icon texts are always present.
every time i boot in safe mode they appear normally. i use the "small icon" setting, if i change to medium or large icon size i still get the "small icon" sized black box overlayed on the larger icon (half icon half black box).
has anyone come accross this problem or have any advice for me, bearing in mind my computer skills are limited.
After I finished playing COD MW2 last evening, I shut my computer down. This morning upon starting it up, I had 3/4 of my desktop icons covered with black boxes. I have tried system restore, deleting the icon cache and reboot all to no avail. I am running Windows Home Premium in 64bit mode. Also ran a malware scan and cleaned everything it found. I am running Norton Security Suite which works great for catching anything that comes my way.

Just goes black. So beyond that I can't even get in to tell you what is wrong and I can't get the pop up back that said what the problem was.

[for whatever reason, the links do not wish to work. I think it works now.]
have done a few internet searches on this one, but the things to try that i have come across have not worked in reinstating the nice animated windows logo on start up of windows 7. I appear to have lost it after doing a windows system restore and am now left with the very dull green progress bar which is low res and boring!!
As i say i have tried the bcdedit and bcdboot commands that are listed on many sites as resolving this issue.
