View 1 Replies View RelatedMy laptop does boot up when I press F2 to enter setup but in few seconds my laptop shut down automatically. I am using sony vaio model no. VPCEB46FG
Optional Information:
Computer OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
I've changed my MOBO to Gigabyte.. for some reason, when i tried to enter into BIOS, it doesn't. I cud see "press DEL to enter setup" message... This screen is only up for two seconds before it flashes to the POST screen which then flashes into a screen that says "Loading Operating System". Then it loaded my OS.. Then i restarted my computer and tried to enter into BIOS again... This time I entered into BIOS.. Sometimes, it is not entering into BIOS (as I've pressed DEL so many times before the BIOS entry msg)..

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have the above motherboard. I have been using a video card which is three years old and thought I would try out the integrated video before my video card died. I switched it in the Bios and switched the monitor cable and it started fine on integrated video. The only thing is that the first screen where I can enter Bios does not show, so I am unable to enter the Bios. I tried hitting the delete button on the blank screen but nothing happens. I was able to shut down the PC and switch back to the video card, so I am OK. Does anyone have any idea why the first screen doesn't show on integrated?
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy friend recently gave me his HP desktop to take a look at. It came with phenom II quad core processor, 8gb of ddr3 ram, a 1.0 TB WD sata hdd, an integrated geforce nvidia 9100 graphics card, and a 300W psu. When I first turned it on, it booted up to the HP logo and froze there not allowing me to enter the BIOS. After resetting the BIOS I was able to get a slight way into the Windows 7 installation. I tried hooking up the hdd as an external to another desktop and it seemed to be working fine.
I deleted all partitions and reformatted it and tried again, same issue. I've tried with a second hard drive, which i know works, and it also gave the same freezing problem. I've also tried using a different psu which got me a little further into the installation but eventually froze and gave me 0x00000e9 hardware error. With no hard drive at all, it can boot a few times but will eventually freeze up at the logo screen, which led me to believe it might be an overheating problem.
I applied thermal paste to both the cpu and gpu heatsinks and on the first boot it froze during installation with the next few resulting in the same logo screen freeze. I've also realized the gpu heatsink is extremely hot to the touch and at one point, after numerous reboots, the display wouldn't even show. I don't wanna jump to the conclusion that the gpu is fried and buy a new motherboard without consulting anyone.

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is a Acer aspire 5738z running windows 7 home premium 64 bit and my problem is my laptop will not start. When I turn my laptop on it starts to run like normal: GPU fan starts, Disk drive kicks in, and the LED for the on button is working but nothing on the screen. I've tried too do alt + f10 for a restore, nothing happened. I've also tried to plug it into a monitor and my tv. Before this occurred it had been turned off during boot (don't ask why, I cannot answer that) and I preceded to take it apart(to fix the overheating issue due to acer not putting fan holes on the bottom of the laptop and I didn't realise something was wrong with it until I reassembled it and tried to turn it on. So I'm not sure whether is corrupt BIOS, a hardware problem, or corrupt MBR (my own personal diagnosis, don't know whether it's right or not). Also I have tried turning the laptop off taking the battery out letting the motherboard discharge then pressing the power button for a minute, leaving it for a minute, putting the charger in then turning it on.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. A while ago I started to have problems with the clock time. So I started searching for answers on Google. Every topic referred to Cmos battery but I doubt it to be Cmos battery fault for one reason: My Laptop Emachine eMe442 is for like a month or more plugged in to the wall socket so in my opinion Cmos battery wouldn't be needed in idle mode or when pc is switched off to keep track of time. Right? Anyway, I been reading a topic on this site on same problem and there was proposed to check Bios time. Bios time seems to me is not working, or not even counting. So normally this started new question. Here they are:
1) Does Cmos battery keeps time running when in idle mode or pc is off, even if pc is plugged into the charger?
2) Whats the problem here, why my pc don't keep track of time?
3)How do I fix whatever is wrong with my Bios time?
Even when I switch on my pc, if I don't click on clock it doesn't start counting, and after I click on clock and synchronize with one of default servers after awhile it starts losing time.
When I update my bios the power was gone and my battery also dead. So when the power come I restart my compaq c772 tu Laptop but it not functioning. Only black screen appear. What to do?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI bought this laptop from Best Buy around Nov 2009 and it is still in great shape. However, my pc was infected with spam and I changed the password but lost the paper I wrote it on. I took it to a specialist here in my office and he said that to fix it, he will have to break something and that scared the crap out of me so I told him not to fix it. I am about to start online classes soon and I do not want to buy a new laptop?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to fix a vaio laptop at the moment and am a bit stuck. The screen doesn't go past the vaio. It just before the windows logo would normally appear. I tried using the windows 7 cd to try a repair or cmd/chkdsk etc, but the OS wasn't found/listed. I also tried to do a clean install and the HD wasn't detected by windows 7 setup. I also tried booting up with ubuntu and the HD still wasn't detected. Can I assume this is a busted HD? Should I still shoot for a bootage diagnostic cd for the hard drive?

[code]....
3 year old Sahara Notebook 2gb Ram, Intel Core Duo T2250 Processor. 1.7 GHZ, ATI xpress 200M graphics card. Win 7 Ultimate 32bit Hasn't given me problems for the last few months, until recently. What happened. I was in school studying, shut down the laptop, took a 15 minute walk to my student residence. When I tried to start the laptop. It showed nothing on the screen, not even the BIOS screen. Thought it was a faulty screen, I connected it to another monitor and even a projector. Nothing still showed on them.
When I insert a Win 7 Installation disk in the DVD drive, I can here it humming but still no display. The fan too is working plus the power on and charging lights are working to?
So, we have multiple computers that the wireless capability stops working randomly and can be fixed by going in to the BIOS and resetting it to the defaults.
