Laptop Doesn't Show The BIOS Or Anything Else After Pressing Start
Dec 10, 2011
3 year old Sahara Notebook 2gb Ram, Intel Core Duo T2250 Processor. 1.7 GHZ, ATI xpress 200M graphics card. Win 7 Ultimate 32bit Hasn't given me problems for the last few months, until recently. What happened. I was in school studying, shut down the laptop, took a 15 minute walk to my student residence. When I tried to start the laptop. It showed nothing on the screen, not even the BIOS screen. Thought it was a faulty screen, I connected it to another monitor and even a projector. Nothing still showed on them.
When I insert a Win 7 Installation disk in the DVD drive, I can here it humming but still no display. The fan too is working plus the power on and charging lights are working to?
When i got home today didn't my computer work, my girlfriend has been the last one using it. So don't know how things were just before the shutdown or anything.when i turn on the computer i get to the screen where "touch bios" is and where i can see the options like Bios settings, boot menu, xpress recovery.but i cant press anything, and after about two seconds on that screen the PC shuts down again. The keyword lights up so there is a responds on it, but just doesn't work to press anything before it shuts down.I've got BSOD upto several times a day for a few months time.believe that my computer is affected by some virus or something is delaying my computer. might be an combination of several things.I got no external things hugged up to the stationeer computer right now.it is a windows 7 x64 machine. usually when i get issues i can access advanced boot up or bios, but can neither in this case..I wonder if it might be a hardware issue.
I want to reinstall windows 7 again, but for some reason this time, it doesn't show the Press any key to start installation. I went to BIOS and CDROM is set to boot first. I also put in the disk in and it runs normally from desktop. The CD is a little scratched, but I don't think that is the problem. The reason I want to boot from startup is so i can format to delete everything and clean install, or is there an alternative?Windows 7 Home premium 64 bitp5n-t deluxenvidia geforce 8800 gts 512
I just bought a Gateway computer yesterday with Windows 7 preinstalled on it, and last night I tried to wake it from sleep but when I did, it didn't show the taskbar, icons or start button. All I could see was the background. I tried the "ctrl+shift+esc" method to fix it, but when I hit those keys nothing happened. I'm at a loss, and I don't want to return the computer!
I have a problem when I open my notebook/laptop it always show the BIOS Setup, so what i do is I press "ESC" on keyboard the select "Yes" to discard the changes in BIOS and it loads the windows and works properly I tried to restart but when I restart same process the BIOS Setup always appear, how can I prevent the BIOS Setup showing in turning on my notebook/laptop?
I recently got hit by a virus on my new pc. PC's that I have owned in the past I would boot into safe mode and fix. However, when I restart to hit f8, I do not see the BIOS. I know the computer brings it up b/c it doesn't boot into Windows 7. So I booted into Windows 7 normal, went to msconfig and told it to boot safely. I got no display at all now after rebooting. I can't get back into Windows 7 nor see the BIOS, or Safe Mode. I have tried more than one monitor. I do have dual graphics cards, so I do not know if that is causing the conflict or not.
I have a Windows 7 Pro x64 which has been running for a many months without any issues.Three days ago I restarted the machine and Windows 7 didn't start anymore. I have spent a lot of time investigating it and could not find anything wrong with the boot loader or the file system where the OS is.So the boot loader works, I have also replaced it just in case but nothing changed. I can go into the boot loader menu and chose the Windows 7 entry but then the black screen which says "Starting Windows" comes and nothing else happens.Note that the computer doesn't hang, it simply gets stuck at some point and doesn't do anything else. The HDD LED stays on from this point forward and that is it, if I press ctrl+alt+del it restarts and if it were completely frozen it wouldn't.
This Windows 7 runs on a pair of drives in RADI1 so it cannot be a problem with the drives. I have run checks just to be sure and couldn't find anything, no file system issues or bad blocks. The raid controller is not reporting any issues with the drives.I have booted with the windows install cd and tried to repair it many times but the auto repair says it could not repair it, other times it tells me that no issue was found. The boot manager is working fine, I have replaced it just in case using bootrec /fixmbr and /fixboot and also bootsect /nt60 all.I have checked for corrupt files with sfc and no files were corrupt, at least no critical system files.I have manually replaced the winload.exe file but this didn't help either. The problem seems to be at the stage where the boot manager passes control to winload.exe.
just completed a first-time new Windows 7 PC build. Successful installation of Windows 7 Pro on WD 600GB 10000 system drive. Went back and installed 4 additional HDD. (2) WD Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM and (2) WD Caviar 7200 500GB HDD from XP system that were used for storage.
BIOS sees all HDDs, but are not viewable in Disk Management. System Specs: Antec Nine Hundred ASUS P6X58D-E MOBO
[Code].....
However, only three are visible in Disk Management. Missing (1) WD 500GB (previously used on WinXP system) and (1) new WD 1T.
I have a 2 mo. old laptop. Windows 7 doesn't start for 15 min- sometimes less. When it times out it takes the same amount of time to get it back up again. I turn on the laptop, windows screen appears but no icon to open it to the desktop appears for several minutes. This repeats everytime the computer times out and goes into sleep mode. I'm pretty new at this and might be making a mistake somewhere.
My Laptop doesn't start at all, it has power and the light indicates that power is on but when i press the power button to turn on the laptop nothing happens at all. No screen (Blank Screen), Fan doesn't even start. It's like that the power button is broken or something Laptop model: Acer Extensa 5235 SeriesModel No.: ZR6OS Version: Windows 7 Home (32 bit)HDD: 250 GBRAM: 3 GB
I am using windows seven ultimate. I have accidentally choosen Display 2. In the screen resolution and now my laptop doesn't start in normal mode. Its like I have to connect to an external display like a laptop to view my Desktop. I can only access it using safe mode..
I have a DELL XPS 17 Laptop. Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Recently my laptop has been restarting itself when I shut it down. It would shut down normally but after 1 second, it turns on by itself. I've checked "events" and I have "Event 41 : Kernal Power".
I'm working on a computer with a RAID setup. It is 2 hard drives 500gb each showing up as 1tb in windows. Both drives show up in the bios but all of a sudden when trying ot start the computer I get a "Operating system is missing" error.
I'm trying to run a chkdsk form a win 7 64 bit disk and telling it to run on H; (system drive) but it says 'cannot open volume for direct access'.
The other drive, C: is just a recovery drive built into dell computer systems. I tried using a boot cd and running mbrfix to no avail.
Windows 7 has it's own 80gb harddrive but i have another HDD with Ubuntu 9.10 in a 20GB partition and a sharedNTFS in the remaining 130~ GB.
The NTFS partition used to show up in 'My Computer' fine, but after re-installing Ubuntu 9.10 it doesn't. (NO i have not erased the entire disc as i can still access it in Ubuntu and it has all my files etc on)
Any ideas on how to get it to show up? it's even missing from the disc manager.
I have two 250gb drives that are connected to my one Eide connection on my Asus P5Q deluxe Mobo. They show in the bios and on startup, but not in my computer or drive manager? How can I get them to show up so I can format and use them as extra space.
My External USB Hard Drive doesn't show up in My Computer Win 7 64bit.
I've just received my Western Element 2,5Tb today. When I first plugged it in, it worked normally. But due to my over-excitement, I copied too much files at the same time and it wasn't working anymore. I regretted doing this immediately.
I have searched on the internet to find some solutions but all of them didn't work. I've checked the Computer Management, Disk Management, but nothing about my External HD showed up. In the notification area, my laptop still detected it and I can removed it properly [even though i can't use it at all].
I tried to connect to my USB and another Samsung 500Gb HDD. And it worked perfectly fine. Then, I tried to connect my new HDD to my sister's lap [she is using Window Vista] and it worked perfectly fine too.
I would like to change the default program for .pdf from TeXworks to foxit reader, but the file extension .pdf doesn't show upfoxit also doesn't show up in the set default programsi can "open with" foxit and texworks, i would just like to quickly be able to open .pdfs with a double click
This has been happening for a while now whats happening is i would drag something to the desktop and it wouldn't show but when i go to Start>Computer>Desktop it shows it in the folder but not actually on the desktop
I just installed windows 7 on a home built desktop. Everything seems to be running fine except my 3rd hard drive won't show up. In device manager it shows all 3 hard drives, but in My Computer it only shows 2.
The hard drive that isn't showing up in My Computer (but showing up in Device Manager), is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1 TB.
The hard drives that are showing up are both Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 but one is a 500 GB the other is a 750 GB.
I am trying to boot from a Windows & Installation disk on a eMachine T3522.
What I am doing is just after turning the PC on I press F10 and the following Options come up:
As you can see booting from the DVD doesn't isn't an option although you can access it from inside Windows? Do anyone have any thing I can try to fix this problem?
I just installed windows 7 on my 64gb SSD sata3 hard drive i did a clean install. Now my 1TB Hard doesnt show up in windows. It shows it in the bois and in the device manager but thats it....
I am trying to overwrite Win7 32-bit with Win7 64-bit. When I run Win7 install it does not find my two HDDs (they are RAID-1). When I look in my Device Manager (before starting the install process) under "Disk Drives" it only shows "GRAID SCSI disk device" and some other drives that are not hard drives. It does not show two HDDs. The BIOS shows both drives and shows a GRAID-1 configuration. I am not sure what to do next to get Win7 to either find the HDDs to write the new Win7 to or do something with the "GRAID SCSI disk device." I bought this machine like this and am not familiar with how to set these things up: I am not an expert.
I have a IBM Thinkpad T41, with Windows 7 installed, it has the symbol for wireless LAN on the screen surround but I can't get the device to show up in device manager, I tried installing the drivers as per the instructions, it does have it, how do I get it to operate? it doesn't show up in the adapter settings either
I bought these new headphones Ozone Attack, and the sound works great on them, but the microphone doesn't work in any program. Doesn't work in Skype, TS3, and it doesn't even pick it up in Recording Devices. It's the kind of headset where it's not a USB; it's got a plug for the mic and another for the headphones. They're both plugged in firmly, and I've updated my audio thing which is IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. My laptop is a HP Pavilion g6-1241sa Notebook PC. I've also gone into Recording Devices and checked for any disabled mics, but the one in my headset isn't there. And even though my headset is set as the Default Communication Device, the mic doesn't get picked up under Recording Devices. Push to Talk is also not on. The headset is also shown only under Playback Devices.
I have a small problem with my Windows 7. Here's what happened:Yesterday, my pc was running fine. I turned it on at 10am and it was running well. My sister ordered a new router so I set it up for her (AirPort Extreme). I installed the utility for it, was a simple setup for me. After that, I connect to it wirelessly and I see that windows update has a few security updates. They install as I turn off the pc. I then turn it back on a few hrs later and notice that when it reaches the login screen, it takes a few secs for it to load. This is unusual being that the days before it was always ready to receive input. So I login, get the welcome screen, and my desktop screen. Taskbar loads as usual, however I can't get anything to show up when I click on it. I think at first that its Comodo (is in training mode) so I close it out. Still nothing. I then press ctrl+alt+delete. Nothing. I then press it rapidly to see what happens. After a few mins, my screen turns black. A message then shows up that ctrl+alt+delete has been pressed but due to something that it won't show up. Had to press either the power button or esc to leave the screen. Safe mode works. I do a system restore back to when the windows update and to the installation of the router. I scanned and haven't found anything yet. Today, my pc looks like its running fine but its still taking a few secs on the login screen and the desktop still idles. I'm going to contact HP to see what they can do but I wanted a second opinion.
Here's my specs (looks like this):

I have a win application that performs some long calculation, and since it's single threaded it doesn't refresh the window in the process. I was wondering why show desktop won't work because of that? I mean I know the answer, show desktop sends a minimize commands to all the windows, and this app won't respond.
