I am trying to boot from a Windows & Installation disk on a eMachine T3522.
What I am doing is just after turning the PC on I press F10 and the following Options come up:
As you can see booting from the DVD doesn't isn't an option although you can access it from inside Windows? Do anyone have any thing I can try to fix this problem?
Long before I bought Windows 7 I was running XP on a dual boot with Ubuntu, I then removed Ubuntu from computer but was still left with the boot option which I successfully removed. I then installed Win 7 as a dual boot with XP and once I was happy with 7 decided to remove XP just leaving 7. As soon as I did so for some reason the Ubuntu option returned to my boot menu. I have tried lots to remove this option but to no avail. The option does not appear on easybcd but seems to be a remnant of XP left in the now useless boot.ini file. I am able to access the boot.ini file using "run" but when I try to edit the Ubuntu option out access is denied. I know I have to change permissions to edit this file but have no idea of it's location and a search returns no results.

Last night I installed Windows 7 (x64) on a separate partition.
Anytime I had tried this in the past, using Vista, it always detected the Windows XP partition, and gave me a boot menu with "Earlier Version of Windows" option to boot to.
This is not so with Windows 7.
How can I get the boot menu to show both options, to boot to XP or to Windows 7?
i only see a blackscreen until the logon screen shows up.

It worked fine in XP and I have tried in Windows 7 with old mouse and with a new one but it doesn't work. Not a major problem but I would like to get it to work.

Problem 2:System Recovery Options window doesn't appear. The little box with command prompt, startup repair, etc doesn't come up at all. Tried 2 separate repair disk and repair your computer in the advance boot options list, still no luck, pc still wont boot and recovery options are still not appearing on screen. Also I have waited over an hour for it to show.
When I press on Choose media streaming options on the [Control Panel Network and Internet Network and Sharing Center Advanced sharing Settings] Windows 7 explorer.exe won't respond and its closing it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 has it's own 80gb harddrive but i have another HDD with Ubuntu 9.10 in a 20GB partition and a sharedNTFS in the remaining 130~ GB.
The NTFS partition used to show up in 'My Computer' fine, but after re-installing Ubuntu 9.10 it doesn't. (NO i have not erased the entire disc as i can still access it in Ubuntu and it has all my files etc on)
Any ideas on how to get it to show up? it's even missing from the disc manager.
I bought the bleeping Dell Inspiron 560, was to rapidly tap F8 during startup to bring up the "Advanced Boot Options." I saw the guy at Best Buy do it but it did not work on my machine when I got home. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium. The computer came without a manual or any disks.

So im using it now as desktop, connecting it to an external lcd monitor.Last night I suspected a worm and tried to boot up in safe mode by pressing F8 but couldn't make it work because windows only activate the external monitor by the time it has finished loading drivers. The result was it keeps booting into normal mode.So, I remembered there's another way to boot into safe mode by accessing boot options in msconfig...Now I'm stuck with safemode and cannot do anything because safemode doesnt enable external monitor. I know for sure that I could enter password and get into safemode but I can't tell what should I press or click to access to that msconfig windows again to return boot options to normal state.

I've just received my Western Element 2,5Tb today. When I first plugged it in, it worked normally. But due to my over-excitement, I copied too much files at the same time and it wasn't working anymore. I regretted doing this immediately.
I have searched on the internet to find some solutions but all of them didn't work. I've checked the Computer Management, Disk Management, but nothing about my External HD showed up. In the notification area, my laptop still detected it and I can removed it properly [even though i can't use it at all].
I tried to connect to my USB and another Samsung 500Gb HDD. And it worked perfectly fine. Then, I tried to connect my new HDD to my sister's lap [she is using Window Vista] and it worked perfectly fine too.
I would like to change the default program for .pdf from TeXworks to foxit reader, but the file extension .pdf doesn't show upfoxit also doesn't show up in the set default programsi can "open with" foxit and texworks, i would just like to quickly be able to open .pdfs with a double click

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just installed windows 7 on a home built desktop. Everything seems to be running fine except my 3rd hard drive won't show up. In device manager it shows all 3 hard drives, but in My Computer it only shows 2.
The hard drive that isn't showing up in My Computer (but showing up in Device Manager), is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1 TB.
The hard drives that are showing up are both Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 but one is a 500 GB the other is a 750 GB.
I just installed windows 7 on my 64gb SSD sata3 hard drive i did a clean install. Now my 1TB Hard doesnt show up in windows. It shows it in the bois and in the device manager but thats it....
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to overwrite Win7 32-bit with Win7 64-bit. When I run Win7 install it does not find my two HDDs (they are RAID-1). When I look in my Device Manager (before starting the install process) under "Disk Drives" it only shows "GRAID SCSI disk device" and some other drives that are not hard drives. It does not show two HDDs. The BIOS shows both drives and shows a GRAID-1 configuration. I am not sure what to do next to get Win7 to either find the HDDs to write the new Win7 to or do something with the "GRAID SCSI disk device." I bought this machine like this and am not familiar with how to set these things up: I am not an expert.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI bought these new headphones Ozone Attack, and the sound works great on them, but the microphone doesn't work in any program. Doesn't work in Skype, TS3, and it doesn't even pick it up in Recording Devices. It's the kind of headset where it's not a USB; it's got a plug for the mic and another for the headphones. They're both plugged in firmly, and I've updated my audio thing which is IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. My laptop is a HP Pavilion g6-1241sa Notebook PC. I've also gone into Recording Devices and checked for any disabled mics, but the one in my headset isn't there. And even though my headset is set as the Default Communication Device, the mic doesn't get picked up under Recording Devices. Push to Talk is also not on. The headset is also shown only under Playback Devices.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a small problem with my Windows 7. Here's what happened:Yesterday, my pc was running fine. I turned it on at 10am and it was running well. My sister ordered a new router so I set it up for her (AirPort Extreme). I installed the utility for it, was a simple setup for me. After that, I connect to it wirelessly and I see that windows update has a few security updates. They install as I turn off the pc. I then turn it back on a few hrs later and notice that when it reaches the login screen, it takes a few secs for it to load. This is unusual being that the days before it was always ready to receive input. So I login, get the welcome screen, and my desktop screen. Taskbar loads as usual, however I can't get anything to show up when I click on it. I think at first that its Comodo (is in training mode) so I close it out. Still nothing. I then press ctrl+alt+delete. Nothing. I then press it rapidly to see what happens. After a few mins, my screen turns black. A message then shows up that ctrl+alt+delete has been pressed but due to something that it won't show up. Had to press either the power button or esc to leave the screen. Safe mode works. I do a system restore back to when the windows update and to the installation of the router. I scanned and haven't found anything yet. Today, my pc looks like its running fine but its still taking a few secs on the login screen and the desktop still idles. I'm going to contact HP to see what they can do but I wanted a second opinion.

I have a win application that performs some long calculation, and since it's single threaded it doesn't refresh the window in the process. I was wondering why show desktop won't work because of that? I mean I know the answer, show desktop sends a minimize commands to all the windows, and this app won't respond.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. The BIOS sees both hard drives and the CD and DVD drive and the Windows Device Manager shows the extra hard drive and both optical drives. When I click the folder in the task bar (Libraries) I can only see "C" drive and no optical drives either. When I click on the CD drive I get the right menues for it, but it does not work at all. If I put a CD in the drive it locks up the system and I have to power off the computer before I can eject it.

I had installed windows 7 32 bit and it had compatibility issue with my Thomson Speedtouch since it doesnt have windows 7 driver I found a tweaked one online and was using it and it worked fine. Suddenly it stopped working and I formatted and reinstalled windows 7 but I was not able to connect the net. The message is always no valid IP configuration. I tried even with a router but the message is the same. So I installed XP on the other partition and I have no problem connecting to the net. Now I want to format the other partition and reinstall windows 7 but I am not able to format the partition from XP or with the installation CD for windows 7.With XP the format fails and with the installation DVD it always goes into BSD.What to do? On startup the previous installation of windows 7 doesnt even show up and goes directly into XP?!

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy computer doesn't show asian characters...including languages like Hindi, Arabic, Chinese(all), Japanese, Korean, Gujarati etc....I have many files in these languages but because of problem it shows only boxes in file names....There is no problem in displaying characters in browsers and word processors...Sometimes it shows all characters correctly but sometimes it doesn't. After reboot it shows them correctly, but not every time.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have three computers: one Windows 7 x64, one Windows 7 x86, and XP SP3 on an Asus Eee 1005HA. The Win 7 x86 machine can see all the computers and shares. The XP machine can see all the computers and shares. The Win 7 x64 machine can see the other Win 7 machine but not the XP machine (the XP machine doesn't show up in Windows Explorer). The XP machine can browse the shares on the Win 7 machine.
Any idea why the Win 7 x64 machine can't see the XP machine? Thanks.
P.S. Both Windows 7 machines are running 7100, and all are connecting to each other over a gigabit switch.
right the problem is when i got to disk defragment - my local disk C: doesnt show up to be defragged :/
