Feb 3, 2011Windows 7 doesn't recognize my D partition though windows XP used to recognize it just fine on my computer, and it also used to work fine on that HDD using that same version of windows 7 on my old computer. My computer is a Dell Optiplex 745 and my HDD is WD10EARS (No Jumpers is being used) Here is a Screen of the installation Process

If I install Linux on second hard disk, will this overwrite the Windows Boot Loader? Apr 15, 2011today I backed up my files when prompted by the little flag icon, they went on an external HDD. Updated everything. Went back to pc after tea, and when i switch on it can't boot windows.
1.. it asks me to put the cd in, when i do it goes through to the option to upgrade, repair or custom. If i try to custom install it tells me no drives were found.
2It won't let me upgrade either.So i put the disc for the motherboard etc in and ask it to repair it says IDE drive doesn't exist or ALL primary partitions are occupied
Doesn't Prompt To Delete Partitions, Do Fresh Install
Dec 29, 2009I'm trying to install Windows 7 x64 on a machine that currently has the Windows 7 RC on it. When I boot from the DVD, it immediately goes into "Windows is loading files...", which it does for 30 minutes or so and then reboots, at which point I get a message that says that Windows cannot start because files have changed.
Normally when I boot from the DVD, the first thing it asks me is whether I want to create/delete partitions, do a fresh install or an upgrade, etc. I'm not getting any of that. Anyone know what's wrong?

Partition Doesn't Show Up
Oct 30, 2009Windows 7 has it's own 80gb harddrive but i have another HDD with Ubuntu 9.10 in a 20GB partition and a sharedNTFS in the remaining 130~ GB.
The NTFS partition used to show up in 'My Computer' fine, but after re-installing Ubuntu 9.10 it doesn't. (NO i have not erased the entire disc as i can still access it in Ubuntu and it has all my files etc on)
Any ideas on how to get it to show up? it's even missing from the disc manager.

Jan 15, 2013I have a AMD Radeon HD 6300 series adapter, running windows 7 x64.I have a dual monitor setup,the same monitor on each port an Acer S230hl. One port is an HDMI the other is a VGA. the issue i have is that when i have a worksheet open i can see the gridlines to the cells on the HDMI connected monitor, if i move the sheet over to the vga monitor the gridlines are so light i cannot make out the different cells. it looks like one clean sheet of white paper.i tried different contrast and brightness settings and no luck.

Nov 16, 2012My External USB Hard Drive doesn't show up in My Computer Win 7 64bit.
I've just received my Western Element 2,5Tb today. When I first plugged it in, it worked normally. But due to my over-excitement, I copied too much files at the same time and it wasn't working anymore. I regretted doing this immediately.
I have searched on the internet to find some solutions but all of them didn't work. I've checked the Computer Management, Disk Management, but nothing about my External HD showed up. In the notification area, my laptop still detected it and I can removed it properly [even though i can't use it at all].
I tried to connect to my USB and another Samsung 500Gb HDD. And it worked perfectly fine. Then, I tried to connect my new HDD to my sister's lap [she is using Window Vista] and it worked perfectly fine too.

Dec 23, 2009I just installed windows 7 on a home built desktop. Everything seems to be running fine except my 3rd hard drive won't show up. In device manager it shows all 3 hard drives, but in My Computer it only shows 2.
The hard drive that isn't showing up in My Computer (but showing up in Device Manager), is a Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1 TB.
The hard drives that are showing up are both Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 but one is a 500 GB the other is a 750 GB.

Jun 30, 2012I am trying to overwrite Win7 32-bit with Win7 64-bit. When I run Win7 install it does not find my two HDDs (they are RAID-1). When I look in my Device Manager (before starting the install process) under "Disk Drives" it only shows "GRAID SCSI disk device" and some other drives that are not hard drives. It does not show two HDDs. The BIOS shows both drives and shows a GRAID-1 configuration. I am not sure what to do next to get Win7 to either find the HDDs to write the new Win7 to or do something with the "GRAID SCSI disk device." I bought this machine like this and am not familiar with how to set these things up: I am not an expert.

Jan 8, 2013I bought these new headphones Ozone Attack, and the sound works great on them, but the microphone doesn't work in any program. Doesn't work in Skype, TS3, and it doesn't even pick it up in Recording Devices. It's the kind of headset where it's not a USB; it's got a plug for the mic and another for the headphones. They're both plugged in firmly, and I've updated my audio thing which is IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. My laptop is a HP Pavilion g6-1241sa Notebook PC. I've also gone into Recording Devices and checked for any disabled mics, but the one in my headset isn't there. And even though my headset is set as the Default Communication Device, the mic doesn't get picked up under Recording Devices. Push to Talk is also not on. The headset is also shown only under Playback Devices.

Jul 12, 2012I have a small problem with my Windows 7. Here's what happened:Yesterday, my pc was running fine. I turned it on at 10am and it was running well. My sister ordered a new router so I set it up for her (AirPort Extreme). I installed the utility for it, was a simple setup for me. After that, I connect to it wirelessly and I see that windows update has a few security updates. They install as I turn off the pc. I then turn it back on a few hrs later and notice that when it reaches the login screen, it takes a few secs for it to load. This is unusual being that the days before it was always ready to receive input. So I login, get the welcome screen, and my desktop screen. Taskbar loads as usual, however I can't get anything to show up when I click on it. I think at first that its Comodo (is in training mode) so I close it out. Still nothing. I then press ctrl+alt+delete. Nothing. I then press it rapidly to see what happens. After a few mins, my screen turns black. A message then shows up that ctrl+alt+delete has been pressed but due to something that it won't show up. Had to press either the power button or esc to leave the screen. Safe mode works. I do a system restore back to when the windows update and to the installation of the router. I scanned and haven't found anything yet. Today, my pc looks like its running fine but its still taking a few secs on the login screen and the desktop still idles. I'm going to contact HP to see what they can do but I wanted a second opinion.

I was wondering why show desktop won't work because of that? I mean I know the answer, show desktop sends a minimize commands to all the windows, and this app won't respond.

Feb 23, 2013I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit OS. The BIOS sees both hard drives and the CD and DVD drive and the Windows Device Manager shows the extra hard drive and both optical drives. When I click the folder in the task bar (Libraries) I can only see "C" drive and no optical drives either. When I click on the CD drive I get the right menues for it, but it does not work at all. If I put a CD in the drive it locks up the system and I have to power off the computer before I can eject it.

Feb 27, 2011I had installed windows 7 32 bit and it had compatibility issue with my Thomson Speedtouch since it doesnt have windows 7 driver I found a tweaked one online and was using it and it worked fine. Suddenly it stopped working and I formatted and reinstalled windows 7 but I was not able to connect the net. The message is always no valid IP configuration. I tried even with a router but the message is the same. So I installed XP on the other partition and I have no problem connecting to the net. Now I want to format the other partition and reinstall windows 7 but I am not able to format the partition from XP or with the installation CD for windows 7.With XP the format fails and with the installation DVD it always goes into BSD.What to do? On startup the previous installation of windows 7 doesnt even show up and goes directly into XP?!

Jul 28, 2009I have three computers: one Windows 7 x64, one Windows 7 x86, and XP SP3 on an Asus Eee 1005HA. The Win 7 x86 machine can see all the computers and shares. The XP machine can see all the computers and shares. The Win 7 x64 machine can see the other Win 7 machine but not the XP machine (the XP machine doesn't show up in Windows Explorer). The XP machine can browse the shares on the Win 7 machine.
Any idea why the Win 7 x64 machine can't see the XP machine? Thanks.
P.S. Both Windows 7 machines are running 7100, and all are connecting to each other over a gigabit switch.
