For some reason the driver for my large format scanner will not install stating it is missing a file in the TEMP folder, however when I open it it is there. (It stopped working, along with my other printer drivers at the update) I tried shutting off firewall entirely, and turning on read/write permission on the user folder but nothing avails. I even did a system restore but could not go back beyond the first update which is where the problem started I guess. Also the Remove or restore function of the installer shows same error.
on Windows 7 machines? I would like to avoid customers from having to do a manual update on hundreds of machines. I was hoping there is some tool that can do that. I go the cab file from the Windows Update Catalog.
I have an HP Deskjet 1220C printer connected to my PC running Windows XP. My laptop is running Windows 7 64-bit. When I connect the printer directly to the laptop Windows Update finds and installs the driver, no problems. However, when I connect to the printer over the network, Windows Update fails to install a driver.
I'm out of ideas. I've been running Win 7 on this machine for more than a year without issues in updating etc. Now it will not search or update/install critical items. I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. I've included a screenshot from the windows update error as well as the error I get when trying to run hijack this.
I've got a problem with a windows update that won't install.I get an error code of 57E. The update is for Office2003.I tried the troubleshooting for updates but my browser (Firefox) crashes when I try to use it. I did some research about error code 57E and the cure had to do with repair of registry.
The latest Windows update just does not install, it goes until 35% then the puter shuts down and reboots.I tried with the "Fixit" tool from Microsoft, but it doesn't help at all.I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit?
Everytime I close the system, I get the message that windows is installing an update but it doesn't update and this has been going on for 2 months. It is a critical update so I can't delete it before I power down. I have updated all my drivers so don't know what to do next. I'm running windows 7 64 bit.
32-bit Windows 7 laptop will not install this update. I have tried all the Fix Its and methods I can think of and I'm still not able to install this update. Is anyone else having this problem?

Contact your support personnel or package Vendor".I have gone into services.msc and to the windows installer and run Start and also changed from manual to automatic to no avail.I am running Windows 7 64 bit with McAfee anti-virus software. 2. Tried downloading from Intels website--->Got error message saying my computer does not meet minimum specs for program to run, which is BS because my computer is very good and is only 1 year old.
I keep getting a Windows installer pop-up saying that "Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue....." I click "Ok," and the pop-up goes away but comes back. I'm not trying to install anything, and I don't know what program may be trying to install or update or whatever it's doing. Is there a way to find out what program it is so I can get it to stop?
I did a Windows 7 reinstall on my HP Pavillion. I thought it was working fine. The internet was running very, very slow so I did a restart. When it rebooted this came up: " Please do not power off or unplug while installing update 10 to 116..." Well it's been at 10 of 116 for an hour now. Nothing seems to be happening. I fear I might have done the Windows 7 reinstall wrong. After all, it only took on of the DVDs that HP sent to me.
When I turn off my computer, it often says "please do not unplug or power off your machine, installing update 1 of 1".The message stays on for ever, and the actual update seems to materialize. Keyboard hits have no effect. I need to pull the power cable and re-start !What can I do to stop this from happening?
Windows 7 Professional 64b.I purchased a Windows 7 installation disc in 2009 and misplaced it when I moved to Australia. Found it last week and installed it. Downloaded its sp1 and tried to install it. Failed.A message stated: ERROR_INSTALL_FAILURE (0x80070643)
I really need some help installing Java Version 6 Update 26. I was clearing junk out of my computer and I deleted the Java folder in Program Files(x86) by accident. At first, I'm like "Oh, well I guess I could just go to the site and redownload it." This is where the problem is. On the website it says to uninstall any traces of Java before reinstalling it. I have unfinished/corrupted traces that wont let me uninstall. So I went ahead and tried downloading it. That comes up, so obviously the corrupted install is in the way. So, I just try to reinstall as it says. Then this comes up: After that, this comes up. I've looked everywhere on Google. At first, I thought it was a problem with my Windows Installer, but it says Windows Installer 5.0.7600.16385 when I type MSIExec in the Command Prompt. Before I knew that, I thought it was because I didn't have Windows 7 Service Pack 1, then I got that. It didn't help the problem I'm having.
my computer is stuck at 3 out of 13 when its installing the updates for windows before it shutdowns, its been stuck for 9+ hours now. i dont know how to stop/ restart the process. When i turn it off and reboot it, it goes straight to the update installing screen.
I am having difficulties with updating Windows 7 on my laptop MSI FX603. Windows 7 came loaded with the laptop, though I do not know if I have windows 7 basic, premium, pro or else.I went on vacations in July, came back in August and I had a bunch of updates. I updated everything at once but I have 8 update files that fail to install from which only 1 error fail to update occur in the update history; therefore I assume this particular error prevents other updates to install correctly.

The knowledge base has several links, I tried all of them. 1 of these knowledge base is about downloading a windows 7 little program called "fixit" but after several attempts, I concluded Fixit cannot solve my issue or is not the proper way to solve my issue. The whole updating package files is roughly around 39 megs and I wonder if Windows 7 actually download the packages every time I click on Update or if Windows stores the updates ready to be installed somewhere on my HDD in which case I would need to re-download the update but I do not know how?
1) Download Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows 7 (KB2647516) 2) PC crashes while making a restore point.3) Reboot - normal startup. But when I shut down later, the update tries to install and the installation hangs. After disc activity ceases, I shut down manually.4) Reboot - normal startup. At this point, I decided to use System Restore to clean out any residue from the failed install before downloading the patch again. Yup, you guessed it, I used the damaged restore point. D'oh!5) PC reboots as part of restore process - I get a startup error.6) Scan for problems - attempt repair - recieve the following error. "StartRep.exe Application Error. The instruction at 0x75bc9a45 referenced memory at 0x538e0e85. The memory could not be read"7) I try to restore to an earlier point, but the restore fails."System Restore failed while mounting the registry from the restore point. Unspecified error (0x80070020)"8) I close System Restore window and PC reboots automatically - normal startup.9) I recieve a notification from "Solve PC Issues" in the taskbar saying Microsoft Security Essentials is out of date and would I like to update?
So here I am. My PC appears to be running smoothly, but I don't know if there's any hidden damage in the system. I still want to clear out any residue from the failed install before I download the patch again, but now I'm wary of using System Restore. Also, the MSE update notification has me puzzled - the last restore point I tried to restore to preceeded an MSE definitions update, but that restore failed (didn't it?) and anyway, I don't normally recieve definitions update notifications from "Solve PC Issues". This las left me unsure where my system is at restore point-wise right now.

New computer above and my previous computer have Windows Updates for the same file with no KB number. Both computers have tried to install the update numerous times but fail. It says the file is Windows Internet Explorer 9. I get an error code 9C48 for which I find little info The new machine was put together April 11 and shows IE9 being installed on that date and I am already running IE 9.
