New computer above and my previous computer have Windows Updates for the same file with no KB number. Both computers have tried to install the update numerous times but fail. It says the file is Windows Internet Explorer 9. I get an error code 9C48 for which I find little info The new machine was put together April 11 and shows IE9 being installed on that date and I am already running IE 9.
There are about 40 computers on the LAN and all of them are Windows 7. AC DC is Windows Server 2008. So I wonder if it is possible to install the update (only this update) to all client computers on the network automatically?
After windows recently updated on one of my win7 machines, i can no longer see the other 4 computers on my network. 2 win7 Pro machines & 3 XP, all in same workgroup. I can see the affected win7 machine from all the other computers and can even access its files, the affected machine can connect to the internet as well but i cannot see any of the others. Network discovery is on, but file and print sharing is not and when i click it on and say Save Changes, it does not hold the change; also under: my system settings-system properties-computer name the Network ID button is grayed out so i cannot change my workgroup name even if i wanted to. I am logged on as admin.
I have 3 computers 2 with windows 7 and 1 with xp. Now I need to share files. There is no problem with windows 7. I can access both the computers having xp and windows 7 and can transfer and share files. But one with xp. I can't see the other 2 computers with windows 7...
I'm out of ideas. I've been running Win 7 on this machine for more than a year without issues in updating etc. Now it will not search or update/install critical items. I'm running Symantec (even tried turning the firewall off without any success). I get an error code 80072F7C. When I run hijackthis, I get an error message that my system denied write access to the Hosts file. I proceed with the scan but am unable to produce a log file. I've included a screenshot from the windows update error as well as the error I get when trying to run hijack this.
I have created my share folders with "everyone" permissions to read, write, and modify as explained (well) here:
Share Files and Printers between Windows 7 and XP :: the How-To Geek
But when I go to copy a file from the XP computer to the Windows 7 computer I get the "Cannot Copy: Access is Denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use" message. I can copy files from the Windows 7 computer to the XP computer.
What more do I need to do to create "Easy File Sharing" between my home networked computers?
Is there any way to use KMS with 20 Serial Keys to Activate 20 computers with Windows 7. I am confused on if you need a Volume License only. and if you do is there any way to be able to have the Server Automatically Activate each computer after it is imaged. We plan on imaging our computers like once a month, but we dont want to manually set up the Serial Keys each time.
The problem I am having is that new computers (direct from manufacturer) are not processing the answer file correctly I have the file set to delete the partitions and build new ones but it does not do so. What I have to do is manually delete the existing partitions that come loaded and once I have done that I reboot and then my partitions prepare correctly. How can I make this work so that it deletes and builds the partitions correctly.
I am running two windows machines, 7x64 in a LAN using Groups. They both have static IP's. If I transfer a file from one machine to the other, the rate is over 100MB per second which is very good. Going the other way, it slows to only 16KB per second.PS: Firewalls and AV turned off.
My acer boot manager is not responding, can't get to the bios screen as it is set to boot from cd/dvd. Purchased full version windows 7 and it still will not boot?
I have two computers both wirelessly connected via a Linksys WAG160N, one is a desktop, the other is a laptop.. Ultimately the desktop is pretty much a server with HDD storage/printer etc..
Now when I restart my computers/delete my adapters and let them reinstall I can usually connect my computers to one another and share files, however thats really about the only way to do it.. if I leave my computers on for 4 hours and come back they usually will lose connection.
What have I done/tried:
disabled ipv6
reset router
formatting
joining homegroup
wired/wireless connections
This problem is VERY frustrating, I just want to do simple file sharing and its turning out to be quite a problem.. ALSO when I do see my desktop from my laptop I cant access the hard drive I shared, only folders ive shared inside it.. I want to be able to share the HDD as a whole.. I've added access to everyone with full control, but it still doesnt work.
Please help, I would like to use my desktop as a server for my laptop/xbox but its turning out to be quite annoying.
The problem started when I had three updates that would not install at shutdown. I tried to run check disk and system file checker which neither would run initiallyCheck disk runs now and says there are no problems. SFC says "Window Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." As for Windows update, I have tried deleting the temp update files located atC:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore and \Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. I have also tried to Resource readiness tool as well as Microsoft Fix It for windows update. The fix it tool says it finds errors and fixes them but the problem is not fixed. It shows up every time I run the tool. Since deleting the temp files, windows update just says "Windows could not search for new updates" with and error code of 80070002.I suspected a virus at first but was unable to find anything with a full scan of AVG and Malware Bytes. Guess that doesn't mean there is not one.

I've got a problem with a windows update that won't install.I get an error code of 57E. The update is for Office2003.I tried the troubleshooting for updates but my browser (Firefox) crashes when I try to use it. I did some research about error code 57E and the cure had to do with repair of registry.
The latest Windows update just does not install, it goes until 35% then the puter shuts down and reboots.I tried with the "Fixit" tool from Microsoft, but it doesn't help at all.I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit?
Everytime I close the system, I get the message that windows is installing an update but it doesn't update and this has been going on for 2 months.
