Install Windows 7 On Multiple Computers?

Aug 20, 2011

Is there any way to use KMS with 20 Serial Keys to Activate 20 computers with Windows 7. I am confused on if you need a Volume License only. and if you do is there any way to be able to have the Server Automatically Activate each computer after it is imaged. We plan on imaging our computers like once a month, but we dont want to manually set up the Serial Keys each time.

Windows 7 Restore Point - Use On Multiple Computers?

Oct 6, 2012

Long story short, my HD is acting up on a 2 week old laptop, I've heard some clicking noises coming from it. I spoke with the retailer and agreed to swap it for me with a new laptop. I don't have the time to reinstall a fresh Windows 7, do the countless hours of updates, and then install the programs I need.

Is it possible I can make a restore point using Windows 7 of the current laptop, save the restore point on an external hard disk, and then when I get my new laptop, I can use the restore point saved on the external hard disk. Therefore, I don't need to do all the updates, reinstall a fresh Windows OS, and install my previous programs I need.

Installing 1 Windows 7 Image To Multiple Computers?

Oct 1, 2012

I need to install Windows 7 on multiple computers (over 20), overwriting the original install with a customized one with added software. I would use a boot time imaging software to simply load the image but I am concerned about the license key for each computer.Could I update the cloned license information with the license I copied from each computer beforehand? Either by getting it from the documentation that came with the computer or by using a software tool to extract the key from the Windows 7 install that was originally on the computer before I overwrite it with the clone image.

Put Win 7 On Multiple Computers

Feb 28, 2010

my windows 7 RC is about to expire, I do have a copy of XP Pro that I got from a buddy of mine...I am not sure if it will work or not using an upgrade version of Windows 7, I want to use the 64 bit version of Win7, and I want to be able to put it on more than just one pc at the same time.

I would like to put win7 on my 2 pc's and my friend's parent's pc. Is there a version of Win7 that I am able to use on multiple pcs at the same time or do I need to buy separate Win7s for each individual pc?

I don't anticipate upgrading to a new pc for myself any time soon, but there is a halfway decent chance that I might sell my current system and be able to get a new one that way. So...an OEM version kinda scares me, but at the same time, if it would definitely be the best value, I would not be totally against it.

Another concern for me would be home, pro, or ultimate...I think ultimate would be kind of a rip-off for what I would need...the only feature looking somewhat interesting it has that pro doesn't would be the encryption thing, but I mean really, I can probably get by without that. I'm leaning towards pro mostly because I'm scared there will be a program I'll want to use that I would need to set up the native xp mode for...but again, do I really need to worry about that too much? Home would be the cheapest and in my mind have the most value, but I'd like to hear from you guys if you think I would want the features from pro or ultimate and if that would represent the best value.

So, it boils down to...

1) Stick with XP pro or go Win7? (I believe either will work fine for my needs...online poker mostly, web surfing, game playing [WoW mostly], and DL'ing/listening to music...but Win7 is so much zippier and cooler looking!!!)

2)Home, Pro, or Ultimate?

3)OEM or Retail?

4)Upgrade or Full?

5)Most important!!! Best way to get on multiple pcs?

Multiple Computers Freezing/slowing Down

Apr 27, 2012

having a really strange issue that is affecting multiple computers all with windows 7 64 bit.

Home computer: Only seems to happen when installing or deleting .exe files... usually when I try and delete them. It is fine doing everything else.. gaming/etc.

Specs:
I5 750 CPU
8 GB DDR3 RAM
Nvidia 560 TI

Work computers (at least 6 different ones, all with different users): If it were only these computers having the issue, I would say lack of RAM... since we run a lot of apps, but since it is happening on my home computer....

Specs:
Intel 2 Duo E7500
4 GB RAM
Nvidia Quadro NVS 450

At work I caught the RAM dropping down to 0 free, where it will normally have around 1 gig - 500 mb free. I haven't been able to catch the ram usage at home when the issue happens... since you can't even CTRL ALT DELETE, I forget the exact message, but it pretty much tells you to just restart your computer manually. Also the internet connection will drop, and firefox will say a script stopped responding.

This seems to have started happening in the last month or two, which leads me to think there was an update that affects how windows 7 is allocating RAM, where it is trying to use too much for the system and draining it.

Since this seems to be affecting so many computers I really expected to see a lot of people having the issue online, but I haven't been able to find anything.

Port Forwarding To Multiple Computers On A LAN

May 14, 2009

I want to be able to RDP to maybe 3 or 4 different machines on a Remote LAN (OK I'm not THAT well off to be able to afford a large number of machines -- these will be Virtual machines).

On a LAN with Bridged networking these machines behave just like REAL physical machines with their own IP addresses.

Now in my router I can only see a way of Port forwarding to a specific IP address on the Lan

So anyway round this.

Remote Control With Multiple Computers In One Room

Sep 11, 2009

I've seen this somewhere, but I can't for the life of me find it again. There is a way of setting only certain remotes to work with certain PCs so they don't interfere with others. I have my HTPC and laptop in the same room, both with IR receivers - whenever I use the remote for my PC, the laptop ends up with all the signals too, and I come back to find it's playing a video or something.

Does anyone here know where that tutorial/registry setting is to change remote control channels?

Remote Desktop Multiple Computers Behind Router

Nov 30, 2011

I have two computers running W7p that I want to access when I'm away from my office. I am able to use remote desktop from inside my home network on either computer. I am able to access one of the computers from outside with my router set to forward global port 3389 to host port 3389. I am guessing that what I need to do is set up two port forwards in my router; the global port will be different but the host port will still be 3389 in each case. Does that sound right? One thing I know is that going into the registry and changing the host port to something other than 3389 does nothing. In fact, if I do that I can no longer use remote desktop inside my home network. I've looked all over the web today and there are not any clear instructions on how to do this (that I could find). I read the Windows 7 forum tutorial.

Router Port Forwarding To Multiple Computers On A LAN

Apr 21, 2009

Any solution to this problem.

I have for example a few machines up and running on a LAN (might be VM's but that shouldn't be an issue).

Say I have five with addresses 192.168.2.2 ==> 192.168.2.6

I might want to RDP to any of these from behind a router.

Using something like No-IP (No-IP - Dynamic DNS, Static DNS for Your Dynamic IP) I can get a an "Internet acessible" domain so I don't need to know the actual IP address that the Internet sees my router.

As I'm behind a router having Multiple domains won't help either as to the external Internet my router is seen as a single IP address.

However the router will only port forward to a single IP address on my LAN.

So if I need to RDP to any other machine on my LAN other than the default one presumably I could only do this by using a different default port for RDP for each of the machines on the LAN. OK not pretty but "Do-able".

Now we get to the real hassle -- If I did this then I'd need a different version of RDP on the CLIENT computer -- not possible if I'm using a work laptop .

Any solutions . I'm totally flumixed by this one.

Multiple Windows 7 Install Boot

Feb 17, 2011

I am in the process of a Windows 7 reinstall but still want to keep data. So what I did was just reformat the hard drive into 2 partitions so I can transfer data over. Both of them have Windows 7 installed on them. The issue seems to be booting into which one, a small quirk I can't get around. If I boot the computer without the Win7 install disk it will use the old bootloader and boots into the old Windows 7, it won't let me select what I want to boot into (just old Win7). If I leave the Win7 install disk in it goes through and says "Press any key to boot from DVD or CD", then I don't press anything and let it time out. Then after it times out it will load from the hard drive, which causes it to load the new bootloader and obviously the new Windows 7 install. change the default bootloader to be the other partition?

Windows 7 32 Bit Bogging Down After Multiple HDD Install?

Feb 2, 2012

I have a Dell Dimension XPS GEN 4 with a recently installed copy of Windows 7 32 BitMy PC has a 3.2 P4 HT CPU and 3 GB of RAM. Just a couple days ago, I decided to install three new 750GB SATA internal HDDs onto my computer to maximize the amount of disk storage. With that being said, Windows has been running very slow after the HDD install (average boot time around 5 mins.) and CPU usage is almost at critical massThis was never an issue before I decided to ramp up the amount of disk storage. Please also be advised, I keep my installed programs to a minimum, and probably the hardest working program I have at this time on my PC is Office. I am curious, could I have possibly overloaded my CPU and given it a much heavier workload by installing multiple HDDs?

Multiple Registry And Missing Dll Errors On New Re-install Windows 7

Aug 20, 2012

I just recently contracted a virus and opted to reformat 2 of my 3 hard drives (the 3rd was used to store documents and backups form the other 2) After reformat/install everything seemed fine until I proceeded to re-install several of my games.

Borderlands installed and proceeded to give me an error that one of the physX .dlls was missing. I managed to find the dll and get it re-installed but then another physXextensions.dll was missing which I was not able to fix, but the game itself works and plays fine.

Then I re-installed Alpha Protocol (worked fine) proceeded to install the 1.1 update and found a missing nxcooking.dll was missing (fixed and then found another)

At this point I found 2 different programs that scanned my registry and dlls and each found approximately 150 errors. Therefore I am planning to reformat all 3 drives and re-install again

Multiple Memory Errors After Clean Install Of Windows 7

Oct 26, 2011

I am building a budgetpc. I bought new in box an AMD X3 450 and a asus m4a78lt-mle mobo, and 4gb of DDR3 1333mhz memory Kingston. First off out of the box the processor posts as a amd x4 b50. Not sure if they packaged the wrong one or the mobo is reading wrong. I don't want to pull the cpu fan back off tok read the cpu. I did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate. After install finished I went to install drivers, well the mobo drivers cd was not in the mobobox so I planned on installing usb wireless nic and downloading drivers. This is where the problem starts.

When I click on the exe install file I get, a cmd box popup that says program to big to fit into memory. So I cant install any drivers, I downloaded alla the mobo drivers from asus on a thumb drive and copied over to the hard drive. Tried to run those files and i get the same error message. So I reinstalled Windows 7 this time the 64bit version and this time i still get the same error but on other exe files I get a message saying that they are not 64 bit files. Even though I downloaded the 64bit version. So I am not sure what is up. All parts were new in box.

Install Multiple HDD

Dec 14, 2009

So I currently have the RC version of Windows 7 installed and I purchased Win 7 ultimate and wish to do a clean install.

I have 3 HDDs, my main one which Win 7 is installed on now, another one that has nothing on it and another one which stores my media, and will have all my stuff backed up on from my main drive.

When I install windows 7 on my main HDD I will be formating it so everything is gone, once installed again will Windows 7 be able to see my other HDDs with all my files on them. Or will the other HDDs need to be formated for them to been seen.

That is my only problem, I am hoping that they will just be the same they are now, but I am confused because the windows 7 now knows the other HDDs as drive F and E, when it is reformatted I am not sure what will happen.

Multiple Users On Multiple Windows 7-64bit Systems?

Feb 13, 2013

We have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems. The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system.
Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening. My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..
