Multiple Windows 7 Install Boot

I am in the process of a Windows 7 reinstall but still want to keep data. So what I did was just reformat the hard drive into 2 partitions so I can transfer data over. Both of them have Windows 7 installed on them. The issue seems to be booting into which one, a small quirk I can't get around. If I boot the computer without the Win7 install disk it will use the old bootloader and boots into the old Windows 7, it won't let me select what I want to boot into (just old Win7). If I leave the Win7 install disk in it goes through and says "Press any key to boot from DVD or CD", then I don't press anything and let it time out. Then after it times out it will load from the hard drive, which causes it to load the new bootloader and obviously the new Windows 7 install. change the default bootloader to be the other partition?

My netbook is samsung n100s. It has 3 partition. C and D are primary partition and E is logical partition. My operating system is Windows 7 in C drive. Now i want to setup Windows XP in D drive. but when i install windows XP, windows 7 boot manager doesn't work and it directly boot from windows XP.

Created an additional partition and restored the old WINxp (Service Pack 3) into it from my old desktop I want to get rid of.Think the missing ingredient is I need to create a boot sector unless it already exists...then I need to edit it.My CPU is a Celeron - it can't multitask, therefore it can't use a virtual machineHow might I go about booting into different versions of Windows?

I have a WD hard drive that I have done a full partition on and will not repartition. I have a second drive that I probably can reinstall windows if need be. I have changed a lot with windows 7 I have added different themes, start orbs, explorer frames/navigation, and system icons. The problem is when my wife gets on it, she hates it. So I made a different user account so that it would be her own look and feel. However the icons and other things are changed in hers also. So my question is: is there a way to have each user load their own windows explorer.exe and other system3264 files for each user? Or is there a way that I can have it ask at the begging (much like choosing a user) which drive to boot from? She basically just uses regular standard windows, and I use mine which looks like: [URL] So the start orb and other folders and file icons transfer to hers as well. I know that she would be happy if there was a way that we could each have different looks. Again I do not want to partition my drive to dual boot.

I have a Dell Dimension XPS GEN 4 with a recently installed copy of Windows 7 32 BitMy PC has a 3.2 P4 HT CPU and 3 GB of RAM. Just a couple days ago, I decided to install three new 750GB SATA internal HDDs onto my computer to maximize the amount of disk storage. With that being said, Windows has been running very slow after the HDD install (average boot time around 5 mins.) and CPU usage is almost at critical massThis was never an issue before I decided to ramp up the amount of disk storage.Please also be advised, I keep my installed programs to a minimum, and probably the hardest working program I have at this time on my PC is Office. I am curious, could I have possibly overloaded my CPU and given it a much heavier workload by installing multiple HDDs?

Is there any way to use KMS with 20 Serial Keys to Activate 20 computers with Windows 7. I am confused on if you need a Volume License only. and if you do is there any way to be able to have the Server Automatically Activate each computer after it is imaged. We plan on imaging our computers like once a month, but we dont want to manually set up the Serial Keys each time.

I have a desktop computer running Windows 7 that I've got setup to automatically login on boot for the kids to use. I am now using Plex as my Media server and this requires you to be logged-in to run it - it can't run as a service using SrvAny or other such tweaks. What I'm after is a way of automatically logging in the computer on-boot to both user accounts.

I just recently contracted a virus and opted to reformat 2 of my 3 hard drives (the 3rd was used to store documents and backups form the other 2) After reformat/install everything seemed fine until I proceeded to re-install several of my games.
Borderlands installed and proceeded to give me an error that one of the physX .dlls was missing. I managed to find the dll and get it re-installed but then another physXextensions.dll was missing which I was not able to fix, but the game itself works and plays fine.
Then I re-installed Alpha Protocol (worked fine) proceeded to install the 1.1 update and found a missing nxcooking.dll was missing (fixed and then found another)
At this point I found 2 different programs that scanned my registry and dlls and each found approximately 150 errors. Therefore I am planning to reformat all 3 drives and re-install again

I am building a budgetpc. I bought new in box an AMD X3 450 and a asus m4a78lt-mle mobo, and 4gb of DDR3 1333mhz memory Kingston. First off out of the box the processor posts as a amd x4 b50. Not sure if they packaged the wrong one or the mobo is reading wrong. I don't want to pull the cpu fan back off tok read the cpu. I did a clean install of Windows 7 ultimate. After install finished I went to install drivers, well the mobo drivers cd was not in the mobobox so I planned on installing usb wireless nic and downloading drivers. This is where the problem starts.
When I click on the exe install file I get, a cmd box popup that says program to big to fit into memory. So I cant install any drivers, I downloaded alla the mobo drivers from asus on a thumb drive and copied over to the hard drive. Tried to run those files and i get the same error message. So I reinstalled Windows 7 this time the 64bit version and this time i still get the same error but on other exe files I get a message saying that they are not 64 bit files. Even though I downloaded the 64bit version. So I am not sure what is up. All parts were new in box.

When booting system sometimes I hit F9 to select boot device, when I want to boot from dvd or usb. Before you say I can list boot devices in bios I know this, the problem Is UEFI and Legacy my UEFI system is not secure boot and for whatever reason I have to F9 and manually select usb or dvd legacy, some versions of linux will not boot otherwise.

Over the course of the last year I have dual booted several version of linux, but it seems that linux mint and ubuntu add entries to my UEFI boot sources list...how do I remove them, the list is getting to long, and currently only windows 7 is installed.
Hp Pavillion Slimline s5-1114 Bios version 7.16 Ps other than this annoying list the system boots fine right into windows.

Is it normal for Windows 7 Home Premium to have multiple boot options at the F8 safe mode menu? (I.e. "Enable boot Logging" "Dosable unsigned drivers" etc etc). I thought there were only three boot options: Safe Mode, Safe Mode with Networking, and Safe Mode with command line..... It seems my safe mode prompt has those three plus all the others.

So I currently have the RC version of Windows 7 installed and I purchased Win 7 ultimate and wish to do a clean install.
I have 3 HDDs, my main one which Win 7 is installed on now, another one that has nothing on it and another one which stores my media, and will have all my stuff backed up on from my main drive.
When I install windows 7 on my main HDD I will be formating it so everything is gone, once installed again will Windows 7 be able to see my other HDDs with all my files on them. Or will the other HDDs need to be formated for them to been seen.
That is my only problem, I am hoping that they will just be the same they are now, but I am confused because the windows 7 now knows the other HDDs as drive F and E, when it is reformatted I am not sure what will happen.

We have three medical clinics and the front desk staff float from clinic to clinic depending on their schedule. I only started here a few months ago and I am working on upgrading their Dell xp systems to Windows 7 systems.The problem begins to crop up when say a user named Sally will come in and sit down at this system for the first time.. Well, she needs to login, click on outlook icon, let it find her exchange PST and copy settings to her user profile, then she launches the application for the scanner that she uses to scan in ID's and insurance cards for every patient coming in.. The scanner is set to default settings and needs to be tweaked on color depth and double sided, etc.. Then after that, she needs to launch her Medical EMR application.. and then choose various options in the citrix client, ..TL;DR - Each user needs to spend 20 minutes resetting the defaults at this updated system.
Well this is fine except, I am planning on updating 2 front desk systems at each clinic, the user Sally will need to do all these things EACH time she finds herself sitting down at a system I just swapped out the previous evening.My thought is this, put a single system down in one clinic and let it sit a week giving most of the float users a chance to work on it for a day, setting all of their preferences etc.Once I get a bunch of them with user profiles on the local drive, grab an image of that drive and just deploy that to each system I roll out..Couple issues I am running into:First would be that I would have to register each Windows 7 copy with a new serial, which I have The next issue is, we have a mis-mash of Dell optiplex systems. 330's - 380's even a couple 320's..

evertyime i load windows the boot manager pops up showing 6 different windows installations. I have been troublshooting of late so have been installing/reinstalling windows. The thing is, i have formated each prior installation before installing a new one yet boot manager keeps popping up during OS loading showing me several different options. All of them except for the most recent have no data showing the formating worked. How do i prevent boot manager from showing all these old installations?

I have some applications which are spread over 2 or sometimes 3 CD's DVD's.After using the excellent tutorials on the site to create an install USB memory stick for my copy of Windows7, I was wondering how do I do about creating the same thing but for a multipart cd or dvd based application?Often the disc installer asks for disc 2 / 3 etc so I take it that it's not as easy as dragging everything onto the one pen drive. Some of them take a long time to install using traditional optical media, and if I could put them all onto a single pen drive it would be great.

I work at the IT department of a school where we have around 600 PC's that need to be maintained. Most things break by the kids and most is fixed my replacing, or simply imaging said computers again.However, after having switched over from Windows XP to Windows 7 we've been having masses of BSODs when loading Windows. Not just the normal PC's, not just linked to one type (although pretty much everything is from HP). But it keeps happening.The most common errors that we've been able to discover are:0x00000018, 0x0000000A, 0x0000007E, 0x000000BE.After having researched these things, they all turned out to have something to do with drivers, not only that, but when trying to boot into safe mode the PC's would all freeze at "classpnp.sys" and sometimes reboot shortly after.Our current solution is simply putting a new Windows 7 image over the computer and it'll work another day or two. It's great that it works again then, but we spend too much time on it.
It can't possibly be the hardware, there are too many different kinds of computers for it to be that. I'm quite sure the problem is somewhere originating from the drivers we install, but then he question comes as to what ruins the drivers? Not to mention that there are also different drivers for the different kinds of PC's.

I am wanting to set up a 32gb usb drive for installing windows onto laptops and netbooks. What I would like is a bootable usb drive that lets me select which version of windows (XP, Vista, Win 7, 32 and 64 bit versions). I have iso's of all of these but I am not sure how to go about getting them on the drive and be bootable.

So I tried installing Windows on my new machine and did waht seemed to be the recommended thing and plugged in only my SSD into the Sata port, leaving my other drives unplugged until after the installation. Everything went fine and I was able to get Windows 7 up, drivers were installing and everything was peachy, but Then I plugged in my other drives, and when I did so with the computer running Windows immediately recognized them and I could access them, as well as do whatever I wanted. However when I restarted I got the message BOOTMGR is missing.
Now, you may be thinking that this is a simple issue of it trying to load from one of those other HDDs, just set the boot order in the BIOS blah blah. But its not. I set the boot order in the BIOS to use the SSD, I set the SSD to the top of the list within the HDDS priority order and still nothing. I then took it a step further and instead of selecting the order manually told it to boot from the SSD flat out, boot from this drive and the same error message came up. I already did the boot from Windows disc, startup repair thing - didn't work.

I'm using Win 7 Ultimate 32bit on an HP Pavillion laptop CPU Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 2.2 ghz, Ram 4 gigs..For many months I've been trying to install Java's latest update. been attempting it for so long I think Java has updated twice during this time. Sometimes it worked for a few weeks or a month then I'd get a message telling me I need to update my version. So off I go....back to Java - ran the test - sure enough it would say I needed to update or I had no Java at all. Right now the latest version is jre1.7.0_09-windowsi586.exe. I got it directly from the JAVA site.I've tried many fixes. From my OS troubleshooter to the MS Fixit tool at the fixit center and other tools in between. All of them say they have fixed the problem. I've spent hours reading about Java issues, fixes, etc at various sites discussing why - this happens. Its conflicting views.I do recall installing different versions of Java in the past because the site advised me to for reasons I can't remember now..... I think it was the JRE 2 - that had a browser plugin which had a fix for a later version of Java.In the last several months I periodically - dl and installed the latest version but each time I tested it - it would say it was NOT installed so I'd do it again after checking BOTH the destination folder (empty) and the control panel to see if it was in there and it wasn't so I tried again with same result. I never tried to uninstall earlier versions because I thought there was a reason they didn't uninstall completely like sometimes its necessary to keep older versions. When version 7 came out I noticed instructions said to get rid of them. Except at that point they would not uninstall. I got the same message whether I was trying to install or uninstall: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" "try an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'jre1.7.0_04-c.msi".The problem with that is this installer package doesn't exist. If you dl the installer as a stand alone package at the Java site it's name is 'jre-7u9-windows-i586-iftw.msi. The one that the message says to use cannot be found anywhere on the site which leads me to believe something isn't right on my end - yet I can't figure out what that is.I found these instructions on Microsoft Answers: Uninstall all versions of Java from Programs and Features After you have removed all versions of Java, please check for these folders and manaully remove (right-click and select delete): [code]
Unfortunately that was short lived as I had to do a system restore a few days later to before I started the manual Java delete due to another issue that was causing non stop events to occur every second in the event viewer.I went through the whole process again but this time Java would not install. I got the same message as before. my pc has other multiple problems with events that I've been fixing here and there only to have new ones pop up or the ones I fixed come back. These started in March when I got it back from a repair shop. I will be posting the details of that on another thread for a different problem..Should I go back into registry and delete those other Java plugins and scripts? They were in the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT folder.

On my home computer, I have 2 physical drives. One hard drive has a single partition (D:) and the other (newer) drive has two partitions (C: and E:). Unfortunately when I first purchased this computer, the technician mistakenly installed Windows XP onto my older hard drive (D:) rather than installing the OS onto the desired C: drive.
The main problem that I am having is: Can I perform a clean install of Windows 7 onto C: drive even though my current OS (Windows XP) is installed onto D: drive? P.S. I have already backed up all files that exist in all of my partitions and would like to format all of the drives (C, D, and E)

I am trying to get my wife's new computer up and running without any BSOD or program failures. Note that the system was not initially set up to capture the dmp files so all the earliest ones are missing. I presented the initial problems to the original seller who recommended sticking with MSE and uninstalling Norton 360 and I did that. Another forum suggested that Virtual Memory was the problem and I disabled and restored VM. Still having multiple crashes and I am hoping that I can get real help here. I do note that all the crashes have ntoskrnl.exe in the driver stack although sometimes alone and sometimes with other drivers.[CODE]

I have been getting a fairly random blue screens and I cannot pin point it myself. I know a bit about diagnosing and repairing issues but this one is just a pain in my butt. I am uploading the dump files and I hope someone can give me a hand I am running a sfc scan right now to test for any problems too. Also got this off the TSG SysInfo Program.

I have attached a second monitor to my laptop which runs Windows 7, however, I need to set different resolutions for different monitors, because the display does not fit to fill the screen on both monitors.
It is also noted that the display is replicated, and I would like to have the effect of having different desktops e.g. being able to use different applications such as debugging code on one monitor on an IDE such as Visual Studio, and, viewing the browser on the other monitor.
Currently it does not seem possible since the behavior seems to be that the same resolution is replicated on both monitors.
