Get Other Computers To See Win 7
I have homegroup set up on my windows 7 (I think). I can see all my windows XP computers, but they can't see me. How do I configure my network in windows 7. The network wizard was so simple in windows XP, but I haven't been able to get it right in Vista or Windows 7.

Win 7 Cannot See MSHOME Or XP Computers
I was able to see the workgroup MSHOME computers for 5 minutes. After I rebooted the computer, I couldn't see any of them. However, ip_address or ip_addressshare_name works. Network discovery on the network is slow (on the Windows 7 computer)... it takes 45 seconds to detect all the computers. The router I am using is D-link DIR-628 . This same problem has plauged me in Vista. The funny thing is...I am able to see the Windows 7 computer from XP computers just fine and quickly too. I can ping from XP to Windows 7 just fine. What other information should I give that would help you?Â

Networking Will Not See Non Win 7 Computers
I've spent 2-3 days now trying to solve the networking mysteries of Win 7. In a nutshell. This computer (Windows 7-64) cannot see the other computers and shares on our small studio network except for the windows 7 machines (also Windows 7-64). (the other computers/shares are all XP) We have 2 identical machines side by side, one can see all the computers, this one cannot. Both are fresh installs. There are approx 8 other machines/shares on the network. Both computers have vista installed on a seperate drive that see the network fine if booted into. Both have homegroup turned off, and have workgroup enabled with the same workgroup name "WORKGROUP". Both have discovery and file sharing enabled. Both use the same network controller, and have the same updated Windows 7 driver. -I have tried turning on/off iv6 (which I see some people think/don't think is an issue). -I have disabled FIREWALL -I have disabled anti-virus -I have rebooted after each change -I have tried different locations/cables on the hub -I have tried the cable/hub location on the Windows 7 computer that is seeing the network computers. ps. I forgot to mention that if I type in the IP address in addres bar I can access one of the other machines, but it will not show up in the network window. I am really at a loss, and have read about every post I can find, and tried every suggestion.

Should Win 7 Works On All Computers ?
I my self believe that we should update our hardware to follow new operating systems instead of trying to make new OS works fine on our 2,3,4 years old computers...One of the reasons i built a new system is to be able to run up-to-date windows systems. Will not go far with that but luckly my windows 7 working like charm and IE8 is working also perfect since i installed the os on c drive as main os. I would like to know if bugs are 100% system failer or it has to do more with hardware issues as well! How can some body be sure about! I my self can amost tell but shouldnt microsoft offer users a very clear notice about the compatible hardware they built windows 7 on-for example.

Upgrading Three Vista Computers To Win 7
I have three computers. One is running Windows Vista Ultimate and the other 2 are running Vista Home Premium. Can I use the family pack to upgrade all three machines to Windows 7 Home Premium and then install the anytime upgrade to get the machine that was originally running Vista Ultimate up to Windows 7 Ultimate? If not, please suggest an alternate method.

Put Win 7 On Multiple Computers
my windows 7 RC is about to expire, I do have a copy of XP Pro that I got from a buddy of mine...I am not sure if it will work or not using an upgrade version of Windows 7, I want to use the 64 bit version of Win7, and I want to be able to put it on more than just one pc at the same time. I would like to put win7 on my 2 pc's and my friend's parent's pc. Is there a version of Win7 that I am able to use on multiple pcs at the same time or do I need to buy separate Win7s for each individual pc? I don't anticipate upgrading to a new pc for myself any time soon, but there is a halfway decent chance that I might sell my current system and be able to get a new one that way. So...an OEM version kinda scares me, but at the same time, if it would definitely be the best value, I would not be totally against it. Another concern for me would be home, pro, or ultimate...I think ultimate would be kind of a rip-off for what I would need...the only feature looking somewhat interesting it has that pro doesn't would be the encryption thing, but I mean really, I can probably get by without that. I'm leaning towards pro mostly because I'm scared there will be a program I'll want to use that I would need to set up the native xp mode for...but again, do I really need to worry about that too much? Home would be the cheapest and in my mind have the most value, but I'd like to hear from you guys if you think I would want the features from pro or ultimate and if that would represent the best value. So, it boils down to... 1) Stick with XP pro or go Win7? (I believe either will work fine for my needs...online poker mostly, web surfing, game playing [WoW mostly], and DL'ing/listening to music...but Win7 is so much zippier and cooler looking!!!) 2)Home, Pro, or Ultimate? 3)OEM or Retail? 4)Upgrade or Full? 5)Most important!!! Best way to get on multiple pcs?

Deploying Win 7 Images On Dell Computers
I want to start imaging PC's that we purchase from Dell without having to pay their imaging fee. Their Windows media disks typically don't ask to be activated, etc but I don't know if that's changed in Windows 7. I want to purchase one machine and make an image from it using the deployment tools Microsoft provides. When I receive future computers with Windows 7 preloaded, can I blow their image away, apply mine and away I go ... or will I run into problems? I don't have any to play with yet, only the trial, which of course doesn't need a key. I'm just trying to get my stuff straight before I tell the boss what I'm planning on doing.

Win 7 In Domain Can't Browse Other Computers
Have a muti-server 2003 domain. Just put my first W7 workstation on it. Had no problem joining the domain. Have no problem pinging by name or mapping drives as long as I specify servershare-name. When the new computer was first booted, it was in workgroup and a few of my other workstations are in workgroup and I could see them in Explore. After joining the domain, I still can only browse and see original "workgroup" computers but none in the domain. Is there a way to "reset" so that a new search is done ?

Win 7 Pro X64 Does Not See Other Computers On The Network
Windows 7 Pro x64 does not see other computers (wired network connections) on the network if those computers are turned on after Windows 7 boots.  In other words, Windows 7 Pro x64 only sees those computers already booted when Windows 7 Pro x64 boots. How can I get Windows 7 to find the computers that join the network after Windows 7 is booted?

XP And 7 Install Issues (Won't Boot Into Win 7 Install)
I have XP SP2 installed. I used EASEUS Partition Master to split my drive in half, one half being XP, the other half being a future install of Windows 7. Put DVD in, selected the blank partition, began the install. Once it gets to the first reboot, it will reboot and go straight into XP. There is no option to choose Windows 7. The XP boot.ini has only one entry for XP. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm thinking I need to add an entry for Windows 7, but have no clue what to put and I'm also guessing I'd have to add a few special tags because it's booting into the setup process of Win 7.

Can Win 7 Professional Install Over Win 7 RC Ultimate ?
I have pre-ordered Windows 7 Professional upgrade & the more I read up on this, I don't know if my upgrade path will work. I had Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit on an HP laptop, I was having issues with the Vista o/s, so I installed the Windows 7 RC & everything works just fine at least til June 2010. my question is will the Windows 7 Professional o/s install over the Windows 7 RC Ultimate? I have my Vista Home Premium license # still on my laptop, but I don't have any Vista backups that actually work, I made a backup following HP's instructions(I was only allowed to make 1 copy)just after I purchased. If I can't get Windows 7 Professional to work on this laptop I will just cancel my pre-order & save myself $99.

Can I Install Win 7 X32 Bit Then Later To Win 7 X64 Bit With Same Licence Key ?
I currently run Windows XP x32 bit Operating System. I have ordered the "full retail" version of Windows 7. I understand that 2 discs will be enclosed in the box, one for installing Windows 7 x32 bit and the other for installing Windows 7 x64 bit. I understand that I need to choose whether I want the x32 bit or x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System and install the 1 I choose at that point. I am quite happy with that. However, what I would like to do is initially install the Windows 7 x32 bit system and in about 6 months (when I have upgraded my hardware sufficiently) then move on to the x64 bit Windows 7 Operating System.  Can I do this with the same 1 licence that comes with the full retail version I have just ordered or will I need to buy another copy of Windows 7 ? It would not bother me if I had to do a "clean install" to move from x32 bit to x64 bit.

Win 7 Install On New Drive
I am purchasing an upgrade copy of Windows 7 and want to do a clean install on my Vista machine. I want to purchase a second hard drive to install the new operating system for a "clean install" and use my old drive as as secondary drive. I am not interested in running Vista from it, only the software installed on the old drive. Can this be done? If so, how? I really would appreciate your help. Both are serial drives.

Win 7 32 / 64 Will Not Install / Loops
I've tried both the 64/32 flavors of beta 1. The install starts after press any key to boot form cd then i get the 2 white bars that go across the bottom screen refreshes I get the green loading bar and thats where it stays it just loops through it periodically it get stuck but give it 5-10 mins it'll start scrolling again but never get past that. Trying to install to a 90GB partition on Disk 2. I currently have XP Pro loaded on Disk 0 I never get far enough in the install for drives to matter though.

BSOD On Win 7 RC Install
Trying to install the 32 bit Win 7 RC on my laptop and get to the very last step (at least I think it's the last step...). I'm doing an Upgrade install from Vista Home Premium using a USB stick. The PC reboots, 'Starting Windows' and gets to a screen showing 'Setup is starting services'. Then I get the dreaded blue screen and am stuck in a blue screen loop. Each time I get a different blue screen but the most common one references wanarp.sys (page_fault_in_nonpaged_area). I've tried booting from the USB stick and doing a repair but that didn't fix it. Tried the Memory Diagnostics - no problems detected.  Tried F8, then 'Repair your computer', which restored me back to Vista - aaaargh, wasn't expecting that.... I assume it's a driver error but how can I fix it next time I try the install? Laptop spec: Dell M1330, T7500 2.2 Ghz, 2GB RAM, Nvidea GEForce 8400M GS, Bluetooth, Wireless N

Win 7 Clean Install
I am currently running build 7600 of Windows 7, I did a clean install without formatting the drive over windows vista premium 64bit and then removed the windows.old folder via the directions found on this board. My question is, that when I download my copy of Windows 7 off of digitalriver (I'm a college student) what is it I need to do in order to have a clean install? I've heard numerous reports that say I wouldn't have to install anything because build 7600 is the final version, and all I would need to do is enter the product key given on my upgrade version.

Win 7 Not Letting Me Install Anything
Since installing Win 7 RC on a completely new partition, I'm not able to run any .exe files online nor on CD. It's saying file is corrupt and needs to run Chkdsk. It runs Chkdsk at reboot, deletes some index files and cycle starts all over. Even Windows Update doesn't work. Getting a " Service is not Running error" Can go online but if I try to download a program it hangs and says "Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Try later"
