When I run the Display Color Calibration to alter the gamma cos it is too bright for me, It resets after any reboot or shutdown is there any way to keep the adjusted setting after shutdown/reboot?

I have a Dell XPS 15 (L502X) laptop withIntel Core i7-2630QM processor6 GB DDR3 RAM15.6" Full HD LED Screen2 GB NVIDIA GeForce GT540M with OptimusMy display was a little 'warm'. I mean that what should appear as white didn't appear white, instead it appeared creamy (i.e. according to RGB scheme, the red content in the display was more than what is required.)To fix this, I did thisRight Click Desktop > Personalize > Display > Calibrate Color and then adjusted the red and green bars to make the color settings proper. Now, the display is as I want it to be.The problem is that when the PC reboots or when an UAC window pops up, the settings are lost and again my display becomes 'warm'/creamy. View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a new monitor recently - a Viewsonic VA2333-LED. I found that I didn't like the color settings and was not able to get the right color/gamma/brightness and contrast settings by using the monitor's menu. I have an Nvidia card, so next thing I did was to edit the color settings through the Nvidia control panel to just how I like them, I selected "Use NVIDIA settings", hit apply and saved the new settings. Looked great until I had to reboot my computer or it went into stand by at which point mysteriously the "Use NVIDIA settings" would become unchecked and my color was back to being an overexposed, bright white mess.
Next I tried the WIndows Color calibration. I went through the process saved the new color profile and set it as the default. Then, lo and behold, after my computer went to stand by, the color was right back to being crap. I even went so far as to delete the default profiles completely, leaving only my adjusted profile set as default. But again, when the monitor goes to stand by, the color settings that I created are lost. Here's the strangest part, when I enter the WIndows 7 color management screen, it still shows my profile as selected (even though clearly my settings are not applied). I have to uncheck the "Use my settings on this device" box and then recheck it and voila, my settings are back. And on top of that, my settings are only lost about 50% of the time that my computer goes to stand-by. On reboot, they work properly, but get lost half the time when the computer enters stand-by.
I am in the process of completing a new build and when I try to shutdown it just reboots.
- Turned off all "wake" features in the bios
- The only front panel connections I'm using are reset and power on buttons. Neither of which are sticking on
- Motherboard is out of case so there are no dropped screws shorting anything out

I use the Display Color Calibration program in Windows 7 to get my monitor's gamma down. It was working great until two or three days ago, but it now resets itself on reboot, every reboot. I've had this problem before and it was related to igfxpers.exe, but that is not among my startup items and thus isn't the issue. Oddly, during the Welcome screen, the gamma goes way up, then seems to come back to where it should be, only to get really bright again and stay there. Even stranger, if I run the calibration tool, bring the gamma down and just cancel the process, the gamma comes back down to where it should be.The problem seems to have cropped up after I upgraded to the newest version of Microsoft Security Essentials, but I'm not sure that's the cause of the issue.

I keep hearing it's something to do with the drivers, but I tried going to device manager, right clicking on display adapter and seeing if there are updates and it says i have the latest installed.I just got this computer too, so you'd think it'd come with all the new drivers?

I've got a problem with shutting down Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit version, I have read through all the posts about windows restarting when shutdown is pressed or the off button is pressed on the desktop PC. I have gone into BIOS and altered the restart in event of system failure, and also done the same on My Computer in advanced settings but none have worked.I have done a check on Microsoft's website to check all the hardware and software too, and the results were all clear. Apart from Adobe Photoshop 3, when I installed this program for some reason I was unable to get an internet connection. And I had to swap my Panda Internet Security for Windows Security Essentials, which I have found out since is better than most of the top brands that you pay for; and it is free to all those people who have got the genuine system from Microsoft.I have all the latest updates for the software and drivers too, also done a full scan of the PC including the two external hard drives that I have connected to the PC.

After a power cut, my pc started booting itself back up again after completely shutting down (2-3 secs) from Windows 7. I'm also running Windows 8 and this shuts down no problem so after months of putting up with it I re-installed Window 7 and the problem disappeared - pc shut down fine and stayed shut down.This was about 2 weeks ago and everything had been fine until another power failure today which has seen the problem return, again only in Windows 7. I have tried everything I have found trawling the forums for others with a similar problem, including disabling wake-on LAN in bios, updating bios, unchecking 'automatic restart' under system failure in startup and recovery options and changing the value of PowerdownAfterShutdown from '0' to '1'/'1' to '0' in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogon
The effects of the power cuts definitely seem to be causing these symptoms as both times now this problem has started immediately afterwards. I'm also thinking it's something that should be fixable within Windows 7 since Windows 8 still shuts down without any problems. I really don't want to have to do another re-install, especially since the problem is likely to come back the next time the power goes off.
Windows 7 Professional x64 edition is installed on a computer. During the installation, every time it went to restart the system would hang immediately; I had to do a hard reboot to continue the installation.Now Windows 7 is installed, and still hangs on reboot. When I choose Restart, the system shows the shutdown screen, goes black, and hangs. After some time waiting it never reboots and I never see the BIOS screen. However, if I choose "shutdown", it works perfectly.Also, when I force it to reboot, the system does NOT give me the message that it wasn't shut down correctly. I've reinstalled the system twice. All drivers are installed correctly, and Windows is completely up to date. I even updated the BIOS to the current version.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIt makes several months am using Windows 7 Professional on my Dell Studio XPS 1640 (it's a 64bit system). It was working fine and I was happy with it. It makes some weeks now that after each time I shut down, when I turn on again, it boots up to where the 4 coloured logo appears and then am left with a dark screen with only the cursor. I once waited for nearly 1 hour, nothing changed. The users screen never appeared.
I had to turn off manually, and when I turn it on again, it tell me that windows failed to restart.... and am left with these 2 options: >start Windows Normally(I went back to square 1 when I tried this) >Startup Repair.
The automatic system repair did not find any problem, I had to use the system recovery for which I had to choose a previous date in time to which I want the computer to reboot. Some times it works, sometimes I have to do it again and change the date.
When I hibernate the laptop, there is no problem when I turn it on again. But when I shut down or restart the laptop, it boots up to the "starting windows" screen with the windows logo and I have to turn it off manually.
It is causing me a lot of problem, I cannot install any program, each time I have to reinstall my printer.
ts a lenovo N585,I cannot shutdown my computer the only option is available is hibernation because when i shut it down and put it back on the only screen i get is a blank screen with my cursor showing nothing else and i have left it like that for hours at a time waiting for it to start back but it never did I took the battery out and put it back in and that was the only time it came back on full swing and i had to wait 3 hrs for it to repair itself because it couldnt start any other way..PLEASE HELP ME, I always have to find ways to speed up my computer because it slows down ever so often and now it cannot even run facebook without sticking?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a strange problem with 2 displays connected to my ATI HD4770 Video Card running the latest 10.12 drivers and AMD Control Center.
I have 2 displays connected to the card.
The display 1 (Samsung Syncmaster 225BW) runs at 1680 x 1050 and is the Main display with the Windows 7 Start Menu.
The display 2 (Phillips Brillance 230W) runs at 1920 x 1200. Physically it is located on the left side of display one.
I arrange the display either by using the Display / Screen Resolution Control Panel Applet or the Catalyst Control Center Desktops & Displays Applet.
Both works fine (drag display 2 to the left side of display 1, chance resolution from 1680 x 1050 to 1920 x 1200.
But when I restart my machine, after the reboot has finished and the desktop appears, my display settings are exactly as before the reboot.
But when Catalyst Control Center loads, it switches the display and reduces the resolution of the bigger one to that of the smaller main display.
Every time I have to manually restore my custom display settings (Arrangement, different resolution) Is there someone in Windows 7 forum which is expert for ATI and CCC running multiple displays in handling those glitches?

I was browsing away and my whole pc froze, with a strange little box around my cursor, although the sound was still working, I force shut down it and restarted and little message popped up saying the display driver has stopped working, I tried multiple things to solve this, to no avail, eventually it kept happening and it got so bad the computer would not start, i tried all of the "F" keys on startup and none worked, eventually i took it to a shop who wiped everything clean and it worked again.
Around 2 months down the line low and behold the same problem happened again, I found a solution and installed a program called driver robot, I used it and installed many outdated drivers, this seemed to fix the problem. For about 6 months, now it has happened again, my computer has now shut down and goes into a constant restart loop, as it is doing this the screens that show up are littered with dots and lines of many colours, I just need workaround on this, preferably without loosing all of my files.
I want to color calibrate my new Dell XPS 15z laptop, but before I do I'd like to back up the existing color profile in case I prefer it to the calibrated one ...
The only problem is, when I open Color Management, NO default color profile is listed, so I don't know what to go back to. I know there HAS to be a default color profile somewhere ... How do I find it?
Can someone please explain why in the year 2009 do we still have to calibrate joystick and control pads (granted it only takes a couple of seconds in the game) just to get things to hold center? I've never understood why a PC has to calibrate it's gaming peripherals whereas consoles you don't.

However, it seems that Windows 7 either lacks the calibration wizard that Windows XP had or it's just hidden very well. I've google searched "Joystick calibration windows 7" and the like numerous times, all coming up with some tutorial for XP.Anyone could point me in the right direction as to what I should do or where I can go to calibrate this.

I also have the same problem on my laptop...IMAPI is not there either, my laptop is running Vista.. it just stopped working all of a sudden.
Do i need to download IMAPI from somewhere?? Ive looked everywhere but cannot seem to find it or any info on it if its missing .
I am trying to set my monitor's screen give accurate renditions of my pictures. I use Quick Gamma to set gamma. When doing this I can use either Nvidia's controls or windows controls (right click desktop>Nvidia Control Panel. When using Nvidia's Control Panel, there are two choices: Use other applications control color settings or Use Nvidia settings. Am I correct in assuming that the former setting is Windows? I always check the button to use Nvidia settings (and then Apply>OK), but when I go back to this screen at a later time, the Other applications control color settings is always selected. I'd like to default to Nvidia.
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy computer recently has started to reset the volume to 100% and keep it at that level, it is unable to be reduced to a better level.a week ago, I installed X-Lite 4, on my computer so i was able to start setting up my voip phone.this problem started about 4 days ago and i was able at first been able to get around it by restarting my computer but then some time later time varies, it would just reset volume to full level.with this doing this it has displayed on my screen bottom middle screen, a picture fo a speaker and showing volume bar at full. this is always ontop of all other windows.the only way I have been able to get rid of this is by stopping the service "audiosrv" through task manager.I have since done a scan with spybot, cleaned my computer with c cleaner, ran my virus scanner etc.
I have also changed property changes in audio settings and nothing has made a difference.I have also uninstalled x-lite, done a system restore to about 2 weeks ago, nothing still made any difference. I am running Windows 7 ultimate 32bit, on a pentium dual core at the moment I am thinking that maybe my audiosrv.dll file or something assoicated with it may be currupt or been infected and not being picked up so far.I have to be able to fix this issue with doing a fix. without a reinstall of the OS / software.
I have recently built myself a PC (Windows 7, i5) and it's running fine except for one problem. Every now and again, when I've been away from it, I find that it's reset itself. I don't think it's overheating as the machine has two extra case fans and the temps seem fine.How should I go about starting to investigate this as it has never reset itself while I've been there.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI have the clock set to notify me when clock changes, and it always has a note as to when a change is scheduled for savings time, but it never notifies me nor changes the time on it's own. I always have to reset it myself and that is usually after the time confuses me enough for me to check the actual time.
How do I get it to reset automatically?
