Jun 19, 2012For the past day windows wants to install the same 4 updates over and over, I have windows update set to download and let me choose when to install.
I can't understand why I even need them, as I uninstalled net framework. Notice how the update at 8:17 AM., KB2656368, is the same as one of the 4 updates installed at 7:47 PM. Windows wants to install the same four kb files again.How do I stop this?

Jul 2, 2011I am currently having a probelm with my windows not downloading 2 updates. I let the auto update download and install all of the important updates but I noticed that there are 2 that are not automatacily downloading; SP 1 and Security KB2467173. The odd thing is, when I tried to download them manually through windows update, the download just hangs at 0% I have been using windows 7 for about 8 months and this is the first time an update won't download.One other thing, when I stop the update that's refusing to download, my cpu goes up to %50 usage untill i restart.

Nov 6, 2009after successfully installing windows 7 (my first windows install since XP, after which I moved to Ubuntu) and doing the initial set-up etc., installing my own anti virus software and MS Office etc, I thought it was time to let it update itself.
however, every time I tell it to update then shut down it fails. I tried to troubleshoot it using the MS help box which was very little actual help, and then tried to initiate the update manually, however, when it comes to installing some windows 7 security and system updates and some IE updates, installation fails, resulting in error code 800736B3, whatever that means. The updates it fails on are:
security update for INternet explorer 8 for windows 7 (KB974455)
security update for windows 7 (KB974571)
security update for windows 7 (KB975467)
update for internet explorer 8 compatability view list for windows 7 (KB975364)
update for internet explorer 8 for windows 7 (KB976749)
update for windows 7 (KB974431) I'm currently running avast! (v4.8 home edition) following Windows 7 informing me that it would not allow AVG to run (it was from an 'untrusted source' apparently, despite having been working a few days previously), but thats another problem entirely
Any help than can be offered will be much obliged! All I've been able to turn up from googling is a command that un-registers windows, which then for some reason allows the updates to occur, following which I can use my original activation code (given to me by digital river with the student upgrade deal) to re-activate windows, although I am reluctant to try this!

Updates Does Not Install / IE 9 - Reverting Changes With Error On Restart
May 29, 2012I installed windows 7 ultimate 64 bits, I do all updates including sp1, and it appears one last update that is IE 9 but on optional. It seems that it install, when I restart pc windows is installing ok, but when it restarts it started installing and reverting changes with error. I already downloded the file and its is the same. I do reset updates and is the same.

Apr 20, 2012I've just put my Dell Studio back to factory settings after having it for two years and deciding to give it a rebirth. I maintain my laptop very well but always like to do a reset every so often.
The problem I'm having now is that the damn thing wont update from Windows Update. It will identify that there are 76 important or critical downloads, but hangs at 0% downloading.
I went to the MS catalogue and tried to download manually, but even though I had the updates selected in my basket, again, it just hung on 0%.
I've ran Kasperskys TDS, the Malicious Tool Removal MS thingy-ma-jig, ran an sfc check where it did note there were corrupt files but it couldn't fix them. The Fix It link to the MS Update Not Working thing found no problems either.
Interestingly, I've just reset and it's telling me the system had to be restarted to finish installing updates, but when you click on it for more info, there's no updates listed.

I've tried all the trouble shooters and the update readiness tool, I've sought and received advice from windows answers to no avail, 14 days ago it did allow some updates but now its insists that IE9 on IE is not downloaded when I can see it is and all the time I keep getting Error Codes 80073712 and 9C48 , I've attempted and failed on at least 21 times now and every time it looks like it may make it but then it fails.
