My laptop is running on windows 7 64 bit and it has microsoft office 2010 starter pack built in. One day my co-worker gave me a CD to install a full version of microsoft office 2010. I thought 'why not?' but after the installation, it asked for product key which I do not have so I uninstalled it (not knowing it will affect my pre-installed microsoft office 2010 starter pack).
Days after I uninstalled the microsoft office (full version), I went to click on microsoft word (starter pack), and it needs a product key (it was pre-installed so there's no way for me to know the product key) and in the end I decided to uninstall it so I can install other working version of microsoft office. It probably leaves trail of registry maybe on the inside and also it has drive Q which I can do nothing about. So, I used "YourUninstaller" to completely remove anything related to 'microsoft office' and it did remove everything but when I tried to re-install different version (or even the same version) of microsoft office, it WON'T let me do it. I kept on getting errors, fed-up with the errors - I did a further reading on the net and found that I have to change the registry file in order to install microsoft office back to my laptop.
I turned the windows installer point to '0' in the regedit thingy (as this is what I read from the net). The default point is 1. After changing the windows installer point to 0, it really did let me install the microsoft office back into my laptop and I thought the problem was over but I noticed my windows now boot-up very slowly, it isn't normal...... and then I changed the point back to 1.
Everything works out fine until I noticed another problem. Every windows start up, I noticed that my razer synapse 2.0 driver now keeps updating. It's like every freaking restart or start up of windows, the razer synapse will update itself so I thought I'd just reinstall it and see what happens. It won't let me uninstall it with the Error 1612: The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.
After downloading the update I got this message when it started to install: [code] The Extended attributes are inconsistant.Am I going to have to reformat my hard drive?!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have done tried to do a clean install with an upgrade disc on a new formatted hdd and but when I type the product key in it says "the product key is not valid" the key is correct and it worked when I used it on the same pc before I needed to re format, oh and its not connected to the Internet as I need to get windows on so I can put my wep code in.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running windows 7 sp1 and downloaded the german language service pack.but i can t install it and at the end of the progress it fails, with out mentioning the reason or giving an error.I didn t do that from windows update because i wanted to have the installation file for the future, after reinstalling windows.By the way, i have enough free space on windows drive, have downloaded the same 32- bit as the system, and the installation file doesn t seen to be corrupted.I also try to install it, instead of double-clicking- by going to region and language sections and install from there, but in browse window i can t give the installion file to it and it says that : no valid installation package is founded in this folder.

I clicked on Device Manager > Other Devices > Mass Storage Controller. Under Device Status it said, "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)."
I don't know what device they are talking about. All the storage devices on my PC seem to be working. Why does DM think there is a Mass Storage Controller at location PCI bus 7, device 1, function 2? I clicked on Update Drive - search failed to find a driver and suggested none needed. I clicked the Uninstall button and the message dissapeared until I rebooted the system.
Can somone tell me why Windows 7 might think there is a Mass Storage Controller on my PC?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running Windows 7 64-bit. Evaluation version 7100. The driver for the ethernet connection is some sort of Intel driver built in with the Dell E520 Motherboard. The thing is, the wireless works. I use a D-Link Xtreme N Desktop Adaptor (DWA-552).
But my computer is in such an awkward location in the house that it's not really an excellent option, so I got 20m of ethernet cable to hook up my PC to the router which is a D-Link DI-614+.
The Router and modem are connected to a PC that is running Windows XP. When I plug in the cable to my computer it sorts it out for a while but it ends up saying it doesn't have a valid IP address?
This only occurs with the ethernet cable and not the wireless. Could this be a case that my computer is too advanced? What if I rolled back to 32-bit or XP? The drivers for the DI-614 are already at the latest, and D-Link discontinued support for it like 5 years ago.
There are several other computers in the network and they work with the ethernet cable and wireless too, but they're all XP. So it's probably something with Windows 7. Having stable connection to the internet is just the main goal I want here.
I have been using Windows 7 beta (386) with no problems up until a few days ago.I've run into the The Network Adaptor "Local Area Connection" does not have a valid IP Configuration message. I recently had a virus (windows 7 antivirus 2012) and I removed it safely. Now I am having problems opening programs on my system all around and I suspect it is a registry problem. I could open the programs via "Run as administrator" but that is a huge hassle (my user account has administrator privileges.) Another thing is when I try to open the program and it has the "select from one of the following to open" window, usually when i select a program to open it with there's a bottom check box for "always use selected..." but that is grayed out... not sure what is happening.I tried to create a new user and that new user can open programs fine.

It was a fake anti-virus program that was telling me I had viruses in an attempt to get me to buy their fake product. Anyway, the program is now history but I am encountering more problems that may or may not be a side effect of the virus. When I try to open an application I get an error giving the file location of the application followed by the message "Application not found". I can get around this and open the application by following the file location given by the error message and opening it. It then forces me to choose which program to open it with, in which case I need to tell it to open it with itself...
This is very irritating and in many cases makes opening applications close to impossible. When I'm choosing the program to open it with, it won't allow me to check the box telling it to set the program as the default. Is there any way to solve this issue short of completely re-installing windows 7?
I own an Asus K61IC laptop (Pentium dual-core processor 2.7 Ghz) which runs Windows 7 Home Premium (pre-installed). A few days ago it started to get stuck during some startups at the welcome screen (preceded by a small hang time between you click the user and the password box comes up). Today the problem became serious after it got stuck again at the first boot-up, and I had to turn it off from the on switch. Finally it successfully start from the second time and when it did I searched in the event logs and found 2 errors which happened during the first boot-up: -Zone alarm could not start because it timed out (I'm not too worried because the second startup showed a similar error with spybot) -The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly. (I copy/paste this from the event log, if you need the hole thing ask for it) I should mention the computer runs avira free and that I checked using the Asus Live Update that the BIOS is up to date.
