Any Way To Get Product Key Recovery

Mar 5, 2012

Is there any way to recover your product key? I have Win7 retail for 3 computers. I have just installed on the last computer (the first two were installed a year or so ago) and I don't have the product key. I think I tossed it out as it was on a card IN THE BOX rather than a sticker on the end like every other frigin MS product I have seen. I must have saw the card and just tossed it out thinking it was just another ad trying to sell me something else. Seeing the sticker (but not looking close) just assumed it had the product key.

RTM Product Keys

Jul 15, 2009

I just downloaded build 7600.16834 iso (x64) and looking at the website below which shows the install screens the RTM version is asking for a product key. Does anyone know what to use as a product key as I only have the RC Keys.

I am sure I have read somewhere that you can skip entering the key and then re-arm the RTM version for 120 days. Is this correct?

I don't want to wipe a perfectly good system only to get to the end of the RTM install where you input the key and be stuck there!

Yes, the product key is unique, but how is the ID created? Is that a pre-determined id for that particular version of Windows 7 or is if unique to the key?

Upgrade Key The Same As Product Key?

Aug 7, 2010

I purchased a copy of Windows 7 professional on-line and downloaded the setup file. When I opened it I was told that: 'to upgrade from one version of Windows 7 to another you need to use Windows anytime upgrade' or something to that effect. So I went to windows anytime upgrade and click on 'I have already purchased a copy of windows 7', then I was prompted to enter the upgrade key. I just entered the Product key because as far as I am aware I haven't got an upgrade key.

The upgrade worked so I assumed I had done the right thing. Can any one confirm that the upgrade key is the same as the product key?

Product Key Problem

Sep 7, 2009

I am attempting to install the Windows7 Release Candidate on a Toshiba G50 laptop. Everything goes well until I reach the First Use stage.

When I respond to the instruction to enter the Product Key for the Vista Ultimate operating system that is installed on the omputer, I get a message saying "Invalid Product Key". It is ABSOLUTELY the product key on the sticker on the base of the computer.

Can anyone offer me advice about what to do next? Is there a way to have the computer tell me what the product key of the installed software is?

No Product Key Needed

Oct 28, 2009

I have just done a clean install from vista to win 7 using a upgrade version of win 7 hp, following the tutorial off this site, but when doing the install it didn't ask me for the product key or if i wanted to activate win 7, any one else had this happen, do i need to do anything. When i look at system page it shows a product key that doesn't match the one in the box & there is a button that asks if i want to change the product key, it also states i have 30 days to activate win 7.

Can Change A Product Key

Jul 12, 2011

I while back a friend of mine gave me a Windows 7 Ultimate key because he said he didn't need it. I plugged it into Windows Anytime Upgrade and it started to verify and upgrade. Half way through the process I cancelled the upgrade because I remembered "oh, yeah. my computer sucks." I thought that my computer would suffer massive performance hit from upgrading. By the way it's an Acer Aspire One D250 netbook with Windows 7 starter. My question is, if I buy a Windows 7 Home Edition key can I use that instead because every time I go to Anytime Upgrade it just tries to install Ultimate automatically. Can I cancel the upgrade in place for something else? Should I forget about it completely or should I just go through with the Ultimate upgrade? Can my computer handle Windows 7 Ultimate?

Specs:
CPU: Intel N270 with 1.6 GHZ
GPU: Intel 945 Chipset Family with GMA 950
Ram: 2 gigs

Windows 7 Saying Product Ket Is Invalid?

Aug 9, 2012

So, I've recently been getting this "The Windows 7 Home premium product key is invalid for activation" I wasn't getting this the first two weeks after I re-installed my Windows 7 home premium, so I assumed everything was fine. Then, I started to get this... I don't see why the key would be invalid, it's the key that's on the bottom of my laptop, and yes before anyone asks, my windows os before was windows 7 home premium 64 bit, like the one I have installed now.

Windows 7 Product Keys

Jun 26, 2009

Are Windows 7 Product Keys tied to bit type as well as the version (Home Premium, Professional, etc)?

If one buys, say, Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, but decided to fall back to Professinoal 32-bit, does the Product Key work?

I have only used 32-bit XP and Vista, but am looking at switching to 64-bit with Windows 7 (new PC purchase) and I wasn't sure if the Product Keys are tied to the bit type you are using. Obviously, they are tied to the version (Home Premium, Professional, etc).

I've had the impression with the Windows 7 Beta/RC that a Windows 7 Ultimate Product Key, for example, will work on the 32 or 64-bit version, but wasn't sure.

Product Keys Interchangeable ?

Nov 22, 2009

I recently bought Windows 7 Professional via the student deal. I've read that when buying Windows 7 for the full price you get both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions included on the disc. This is not the case with the student deal as my cd includes the 32 bit version only.

At the moment I want to have the 32 bit version on 2 machines. But in the near future I want to have 32 bit on 1 machine and 64 bit on another machine.

If I also buy the 64 bit version, will I be able to use the product keys interchangeably? i.e. Can I install the 32 bit version from disc 1 but use the product key from the 64 bit disc 2?
