View 5 RepliesI have installed fresh Windows 7 Pro x64, and Office 2007 Small Business Edition SBE. Every time I try to type my Product key (which I have checked several times and it is correct) I got message saying that my key is invalid. To be honest I am not entierly sure whether I should call Microsoft and explain the whole palava or there is something better.
View 8 Replies View RelatedSo, I've recently been getting this "The Windows 7 Home premium product key is invalid for activation" I wasn't getting this the first two weeks after I re-installed my Windows 7 home premium, so I assumed everything was fine. Then, I started to get this... I don't see why the key would be invalid, it's the key that's on the bottom of my laptop, and yes before anyone asks, my windows os before was windows 7 home premium 64 bit, like the one I have installed now.

View 5 Replies View Relateda few months back, I use windows update to install a windows update. After, some strange things have hapend. When I booted my computer on, my monitor went into powersave mode and wouldent come out of it, so I switched the port and it worked fine. I then went to play minecraft, I noticed it was very laggy. I checked my system score and it has dropped by 1.1 points for some reason. I tried to use recovery to roll back the update but it didnt make a difference, so I tried to re-install the OS. I went to control pannel -> Recovery -> advance recovery methods and reinstall windows. It restarted, and once it restarted and boots into the part when I am reintalling the OS it it gives an error:"The unattended answer file contains an invalid product key. Either remove the invalid key or provide a valid product key in the unattended answer file to proceed with this windows installation."What I have tried:
Re entering the product key
Try to install it many times
reinstalling drivers
using recovery
I've been using the same USB drive to install previous versions of windows 7 (both x86 and x64), but when trying to do the same with 7264 x64, I get an error during the install process asking me for drivers. I assume it isn't referring to drivers for the HDD because when I click "browse" to find the drivers, the drive and its partitions are listed.
has anyone else run into this problem?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have tried winiso, magiciso, etc to add the cversion.ini file to it but none of those allow it to work. Need some help, what is the way to make this happen?
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have the 7264 ISO, and I know that I'll need to edit the cversion.ini file to upgrade to 7264.
I don't want to burn a DVD for this upgrade, so I just wanted to know what I have to do after editing the cversion.ini file.
Is it enough if i sun the setup.exe from HDD with Vista compatibility?
I want to upgrade my w.7 from build 7100 to 7264 but I have photoshop and other programs installed on build 7100 and I want to know if these program will still work without any problems after upgrading.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy upgrade from 7100 to 7264 failed. I had the same problem when upgrading to 7100 and had to reformat my drive. Here's the problem: at some point when transfering files and system settings (2nd step I believe) the C drive becomes currupted somehow. The OS still runs and boots, but the drive shows up as "access denied." The sizes under properties are all 0.
I'm using the computer to post this so it still runs, but the drive is desperately crippled. I think the partition table is messed up somehow.
Any ideas?
How do I do an in place upgrade from build 7264 to RTM?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't install Windows Live. The installer keeps rolling everything back after 99% of the process. For the first time it failed it only installed MSN and Mail and the rest was rolled back. Since then it doesn't download the installation files any more as the old ones are stored somewhere on the disk and it uses them for the installation. Guess the problem occurs because the installation files are corrupted but how do I force the installer to download the again? Looked everywhere and can't find the place where the old installation files are stored...
Just in case, the error i'm getting after the roll back is:
'try installing win live programs again. progs were not installed because the installation was cancelled. aborted: 0x80004004'
I run setup.exe from harddrive and click install now then it gives "error code 0x080070490"
(Windows Setup cannot find a location to store temporary files. etc.)
I have enough free space, but it won't work.
Have anyone any ideas?
I have a repeatable BSOD every time I wake my machine
Hardware has been running 7229 x64 without issue.
The BSOD seems to be random.
With other apps open, I never have a problem (put the machine to sleep and woke it 20 times with different combos of apps open )
With media center, I have the problem with fullscreen or windowed and whether it is in focus or not.
Did not have this problem with 7201 (did not check with 7229).
Anyone have any suggestions?
What is the difference between a Windows 7 Default Product Key and a Product Key?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently running OS 7 Beta RC Build 7100. Were do I get this newer version, is there a big difference? And am I able to upgrade to the newer Beta?
I realize that October is fast approaching for the RTM but I plan to keep running the Beta for a couple of months past the Grand Opening.
Is it possible that all the updates that I have received equally add up to the newer build?
I have windows xp pro x86, I just installed windows 7 ultimite x64 as a dual boot on the same partition.
Windows 7 works great.
when I boot up, if i choose xp, error says
"windows will not start because system32/ntoskrnl.exe"
"invalid boot.ini"
"windows could not starte because the following file is missing or invalid windows root system32 ntoskrnl.exe
I did some reading and some places say to put in my xp disk, start up with r for recovery and type bootcfg /list bootcfg/ rebuild
Although I am scared of messing up the windows 7
Someone else told me just to put my winxp disc in and do a repair..
recently i made a post on my netbook's problem to activate windows, when I used Vista, unfortunately i couldn't. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Windows 7 laptop, it has two network connections - one that I use at work; it is a hard wired connection (by DHCP - where the server automatically assigns an I.P. address), and the other wi-fi; which I use at home (again by DHCP where my modem / router assigns an I.P. address).
Recently I performed a Windows update (whilst at home - connected to my wi-fi network) and now when I take my laptop to work I am unable to connect to the internet. The Windows (2000) server knows that my computer is there, and I can access network shares, however I can't browse the web.
I had a look at my network settings by "ipconfig /all" and discovered that my "hard wired" connection is being supplied an invalid Gateway I.P.
Other computer on the network are not receiving an invalid Gateway.
As a temporary fix I have entered a static IP, however I am wondering if anybody knows what may cause my laptop to be assigned an incorrect Gateway IP, particularly when other computers on the work network are not experiencing this issue.
I have a Gateway FX6801-05 which originally had Wiindows Vista installed. I purchased a complete Windows 7 ultimate (not upgrade, not OEM) from eBay. I wiped the disk then installed and verified it without a hitch. Automatic updates has been working fine.Yesterday I changed some things around on my motherboard. When I booted Windows 7 Ultimate, which has been installed on my computer for several years now, it reported that my copy of Windows was invalid. Apparently the motherboard remembered the OEM Vista product number. I tried reauthorization both on the web and by phone using my new product key of Windows 7. The phone reauthorization doesn't even allow me to talk with a support person.Did I really buy an unauthorized Windows 7 ultimate, or is something weird going on here because VISTA OEM was originally installed on this computer?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an old computer that is running Windows XP that I've decided to upgrade to Windows 7. After a bit of trouble, I managed to get through the installation process. At least I think I've got through the installation process - the problem starts soon after the bit where you have to name the computer. Soon after, the computer has to restart, but when it does there are some strange noises from the computer and an error flashes onto the screen for a second:Invalid BOOT.INI fileBooting from C:\windows\And then the screen just goes black. I had to boot it up using the Windows 7 CD again and I tried going on repair installation. It checked, tried and failed to repair. Under details it said "A recent driver installation or upgrade may be preventing the system from starting".I haven't added any new hardware during the installation process - all that was connected was the keyboard, USB mouse, monitor and power cable.

However, when it did reboot, I got a message saying Invalid Partition Table. So, i was like wtf, like any person. I tried rebooting and going into safe mode. It wouldn't let me. AT ALL. View 7 Replies View RelatedI am running a small network at my house, and I have a Win2003 server that seems to have problems. It doesn't boot anymore. One suggestion was to take the hard disk, connect it to another computer and work on it. Ok, so I did that. Took the HD from the 2003 machine, got a connection kit for USB and connected it to my Win7/64 notbook. Of course, that blew up my notebook-When I connected the HD, the laptop froze. Obviously, I had not choice but to remove the external hard drive and reboot. The reboot now ends up in a single line: Invalid Partition Table.I have tried the system Recovery Options on the DVD, but the automatic options don't work. So I need to find another way to restore the partition table.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an awesome fan app (FAN Xpert) that I have been using on my Rampage IV Rig. I recently did a re-install of Win 7 (about a week ago) and it has yet to run. It actually is part of suite of utilities that comes bundled with ASUS Mobo's. I have installed it a number of times in the past and have never had any problems. First thing I did was uninstall and re-install I used Revo Uninstaller in safe mode. The problem re-occurred so I then did a regular uninstall.Next I ran SFC.I got a bunch of errors (11) that were all Explorer.exe based. I then replaced Explorer with a fresh copy from the Windows 7 DVD. still Class not recognized. I don't use any of those Registry repair utilities as I have found them to be more detrimental then helpful. So far I have had no problems with any other Apps.

I am trying to install a copy of Windows 7 Professional x64, obtained through my university's MSDNAA program, on my desktop. Through research, and another thread on this forum i have attempted to make a USB disk to load the .iso onto the desktop, however when moving the files from the iso onto the flash disk it returns the error "Invalid MS-DOS Function" when trying to copy/move the install.wim, install_Windows7 PROFESSIONAL.clg, as well as the other .clg files. What can I do to remedy this issue and get this thing to install? The computer I am attempting to do this on is my Windows 7Pro x86 laptop.
