I have my orginal O/S disk that does not have SP1 on it. Can I use another O/S W7Pro x64 disk with SP1 to perform the repair operation. Then will it require me to enter the new product key or can I keep the same orginal product key? Does the program read the product key from the disk

The problem is that as soon as windows boots up it starts up in Startup Repair. Startup repair does not fix the computer, it gives an error that says it cannot fix it automatically.So naturally I tried to repair computer from the Windows 7 install disk.However, I get this error when I use startup repair from the installation disk:

The operation completed successfully This seems strange to me.I have no clue how to fix it and have no idea how she messed up her computer, but I suspect it may be because she might have deleted important files.My last resort would be to do a fresh install as I have no idea what sort of files she has saved and I wouldn't want to destroy anything important.Also, (and this may be obvious) I have no idea what version of Windows 7 she has or what service pack. She is a computer illiterate so I doubt she knows(I'm using my install disk).
i tried to boot from the repair disk that i put on a usb flash but my system is not listed when it gives the option for recovery system. it now says that i need to load drivers and i dont know what ones i need to load or if i have them. im working with a hp mini netbook so i had to use a flash hd. if anyone knows what dirvers i need.

I've tried using last known config., and I must of turned off the system restore at some point because it states that there are none to revert back to when I try that. Malwarebytes and MS security essentials seem to have cleared that up, but everything is still running slow in it.Additionally, the malware deleted all the shortcuts from the start menu (S.M.A.R.T. rogue antivirus, I deleted the temporary files before reading that was where the shortcuts were moved to)The administrator account is not suffering from the slowdown, everything seems fine in it. I made a windows repair disc using it.Partitions: there are four right now, windows (100mb), C drive (100gb), D drive (350 gb), and a recovery partition (15gb)1. I'd like to restore/repair windows 7 on the non-administrator account. From what I understand, the registry is likely faulty. I have little understanding of how to fix it, and no image or backup from before the malware infected. My data files are backed up to an external hard drive. I'd prefer to keep the programs registered and installed. I'm interested in dual-booting ubuntu. As the maximum of 4 partitions are assigned, I'd need to remove one of them. I've created a disk image of the system and C partitions onto an external hard drive (using Macrium Reflect). The data files are also backed up, either on that disc or on different clouds. I'd like to confirm that having done this, and having a windows repair disc, it's safe for me to use the recovery partition for ubuntu.

I've been stuck on the startup repair for almost 5 hours saying that it's repairing my hard drive or whatever (i forget exactly what it said), I first booted linux to check the SMART data on the HDD (i now know that I can do it with HBCD too) it came back all fine. I am now running Hirens Boot CD and DRevitalise to scan and repair bad sectors.

I do have a DxDiag on the desktop of the pc in question which I could get if needed (to tired to do now)
Edit: Reinstalling is not an option I will consider unless there is nothing else that I can do.
Edit: Turns out there is a tool from WD for HDD testing, am running that now instead if the last one.
