WebDAV / Add A Network Location / Path Not Valid Error
Jul 12, 2012
I can connect to my WebDAV folder on my online server by BitKinex for example, but when I want to add a Network Location to the explorer it fails with the error message that the path is not valid ... but it is valid though.

I'm using Win 7, full RC, 32 bit. This problem happens on any machine and happened in Vista 32 bit as well.
I host our SharePoint server externally at Apptix and I am unable to map a network location to show up in Explorer. I'm not technical enough to know if this is a WebDAV issue or what. I have done tons of web searches when we had this problem initially with Vista 2 years ago. The solution was to download KB907306 and it worked in Vista.
Ok, I can accept that Vista and SharePoint development may have been out of synch at some point, but why the (insert multiple explicatives) hasn't Microsoft fixed this in Win 7? I'm not the only person in the world who hosts SharePoint and wants to view folders in Explorer. Is my hosting company the only one configured like this?
That being said (whew, I feel better), I tried to install KB907306 in Win 7 and I can now attach the location. I can see it on the left side of Explorer (folder view?) and in the main section. I can expand the left side to see the sub folders (I am prompted for my credentials), BUT, the contents of the folders never update the main window. I never see the files I want to see.
Oh, I also had the nightmare Outlook 2007 / hosted Exchange server config issue. I got around that one. Both our Exchange and SP servers are hosted by Apptix.

I have been using Windows 7 beta (386) with no problems up until a few days ago.I've run into the The Network Adaptor "Local Area Connection" does not have a valid IP Configuration message. When I go to Network Sharing I see that I am connected to an Unidentified Network but unable to connect to the internet. This has happened all of a sudden.

I keep getting Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found error whenever I try to connect to any other computer (running windows 7 ultimate) on my network. I have another computer with windows 7 ultimate that does not have this problem. Firewalls are disabled on all computers.
Computers all ping fine. Can ping by name too. If I try to connect via IP address, I get Error Code: Error0x80004005 Unspecified error

Ok, I have a laptop and a desktop. Desktop is currently running 7 x64 and laptop is running 7 x86.
Few weeks ago I was able to access my LAPTOP from my DESKTOP normally by using the Network in the explorer. I was prompted to key in my Username and Password of my LAPTOP and I gained access after.
Now, I have no idea what happened to my DESKTOP. I am able to access other computers but not my LAPTOP. It keeps stating Network path not found with error code 0x80070035. Troubleshooting indicates no problems found.
I do dual-boot with Vista x64 on my DESKTOP and I am able to gain access to my LAPTOP using Vista.
One of the workaround I got for Windows 7 is to create HomeGroup and use my LAPTOP to join it and I can gain access to Network after that.
So, is this a HomeGroup bug and any fix for it?
EDIT: Never mind, I just re-create my password on my laptop and it's fine now. So, it's really weird.

I'm new to this forum and your tutorial, but they have already served me fine. Right now I'm stuck in your "How to Create a System Image Backup in Windows 7". I (think I have a backup) on an 5yr. old 40g portable done with HDClone. Now I'm trying to follow your Win 7 Image Backup, I do have a few more older HDD's but I want to use a new 32g Corsair flash, but "Create a System Image" keeps giving me a "the drive is not a valid backup location." Do you have any ideas if/how to get around this??

Upon installing Need for Speed: Shift, I get this error:
"Error 1606: Could not access Network location 0"
Can anyone tell me where "0" is located at in the registry?
All of my searches led me to the "Recent" folder, so I tried the method for that along with others and no go. I just can't find the 0 folder (or whatever it is?

I have tired everything that I have seen on these forums. Perhaps I am overlooking something simple. I have gotten them to the point where I can see them on each system but when I tried to access them I get "path not valid error". The other thing is it was working before I went on vacation. I used my laptop in Florida and since I have been back I cant get on the network. I don't know what I did to get on the network the first time....

I'm having difficulty trying to get my new Windows 7 pc set up to share files across my existing home (wired) network which consists of 1 desktop pc running WinXP and 1 laptop running WinXP.I want the 'C' drive on each of the 3 computers to be shared. I've had the 2 Windows XP computers set up and working like this for several years without a problem but I can't seem to get the 'C' drive on the Windows 7 computer to do the same. All 3 computers have the same workgroup name and none of them require passwords to log on to Windows. There are no problems with the firewalls on any of the machines. On the Windows 7 PC when I right click on the 'C' drive and select the 'Sharing' tab, I have set this up to be shared and when I click on the 'Advanced Sharing' button there is a tick in the 'Share this folder' box, the 'Share name' is 'C'. If I then click on the 'Permissions' button, this shows a 'Group or user name' 'Everyone' and this group has Full Control, Change and Read boxes ticked. As far as I can see there is nothing more I can do.
However from my Windows XP computer, when I go to My Network Places and double click on the icon for the Windows 7 'C' drive, I get the message "\Computername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found"I've subsequently set up a sub folder (of the Windows 7 'C' drive) for sharing by right clicking on the folder, choosing 'Share with' and then selecting 'Specific people'. I then set up a group called 'Everyone' with read/write permissions. Now I can navigate to this folder from my 2 WinXP computers.

I've had this problem since I bought a new desktop PC with windows 7 installed. Every once in a while my internet stops working (router+modem) and a yellow exclamation mark appears. When I use the windows solution utility I get two different messages:
a)either my wireless network connection does not have a valid IP
b) the default gateway is not available
I am using d-link dwa-127 wireless adapter since my computer does not have an integrated wifi card, and I have already removed norton, which could possibly be blocking my conncection. I have tried setting my IP manually, but it does not work.
At the beginning it all functioned normally, and even now it works, but it did not before. I also noticed that when it does not work it says 'Unidentified network', and when it does it says 'Smuc' (the ssid of our network). The internet as such is working this whole time, I always check it on my laptop with windows XP and an integrated WiFi card.

since I installed Windows 7 on my computer, I've been having trouble connecting to the internet. I have a wired connection to a Belkin router. I have the latest firmware for the router.
When I start my computer, sometimes it will automatically connect to the internet, however most of the time it doesn't. I see a yellow exclamation point over the networking icon at the bottom, which says "Unidentified Network - No Internet Access".
The only way to solve the problem is by running troubleshooter -- numerous times. When the troubleshooter doesn't work, it says "Local Area Connection doesn't have a valid IP Configuration". I then have to repeatedly troubleshoot, or disable and enable my internet. The troubleshooter "Resets the local area connection adapter" - which works sometimes, but sometimes it doesn't.
Other times, it connects to the Belkin router, but says that there is "No Internet Access."
I have disabled the Bonjour service, which was a suggestion I saw in previous threads.

I get the unidentified network no internet access thing come up when i click on the little symbol at the bottom which has the yellow warning triangle infront of it. I have tried disabling the connection and restoring it. Releasing the ip and renewing it. I have tried to update the driver (ethernet cable) but it says it is up to date. In the driver management there is a yellow triangle next to the USB network interface.

So I'm having a major problem with my laptop. Been fine connecting to the internet since day 1 and now after having my laptop for about 6 months, It decides to connect, but have "Limited Access", therefore, not allowing me ANY Access. I diagnosed the problem and it told me to shut router off, all that stuff. I shut the router off, waited 10 seconds, turned it on, all that jazz and says that I "Completed" that, but now reads, "Wireless Network Connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration".

I currently have my Xbox 360 connected up to my Laptop via Ethernet and I am having a problem with streaming videos and music. Everything else works fine, it connects to Xbox Live etc, and connects to the Laptop and finds the video files, it just won't play them. It gives the error:
'The connection to your computer was lost. Make sure your computer is turned on, connected to the network, and running media sharing software.
Status Code: 53-C00DF238'
I can't find much information about this error apart from one person stating that the ethernet connection to their Xbox had made itself public rather than private and could fix it by changing it to private again.
This is where I'm having a problem. The connection is showing up as an unidentified network with no internet access and as a public network. I can't figure out how to change it to a private network, there just doesn't seem to be an option.
Everything else on the laptop is working fine, my firewall is configured correctly, media player 12 is sharing correctly, the homegroup is set up etc. It just won't stream the video and the only thing I can think of now is that it needs to be a private network in order to allow streaming. I just can't change it.
I have attached a screenshot of my network & sharing centre to show you how it won't let me change the network location type.

I have a desktop PC with a Broadcomm Gigabit ethernet onboard. I live in a rural area and do not have cable internet and I have to use wireless. I have a UM175 wireless USB device. I use the USB to connect to the internet and use "Internet Connection Sharing" to share with my local connection (Broadcomm).
I set the Broadcomm to 192.168.0.1 and all the other PC's on my home network can get to the Internet through it.
My problem is I cannot get the Broadcomm network location to get set to Home. It keeps defaulting to Public, and because it is Public, I cannot use Homegroups with it because it is being seen as a Public network.
I tried removing the wireless card and, using Device manager, I disabled the Broadcomm and re-enabled it but when it came back online it automatically reverted to "Public".
