"Error 1606. Could Not Access Network Location %AppDATA%."

I am having an intermittent problem isnalling different programs in Windows 7. I will get the following error message when the insall fails "Error 1606. Could not access network location %AppDATA%." When I got this error before I was able to get around it by crated another administrator account in Windows to install programs. Since then I have did a clean install of windows and the issue went away until several months ago. So far the programs that I cant install are Java updates, and Quickbooks Starter Edition. Below you will find some basics about my PC.
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, Service Pack 1, 64 bit

Can anyone tell me where "0" is located at in the registry?
All of my searches led me to the "Recent" folder, so I tried the method for that along with others and no go. I just can't find the 0 folder (or whatever it is?

I have a boot drive which is 250gb (My C drive). I have Win 7 and some apps on it.I have installed Steam on my other hard drive. So far most games have been cooperative and install their folders close to Steam!However, one game in particular (Empire Total War) has installed one of its folders in "C:UsersXYZAppDataRoamingThe Creative Assembly".From experience from my old PC, I know this folder (The Creative Assembly) can grow to close to 20gb in a matter of a year. I don't want that to happen and therefore thought of relocating, moving, or redirecting this folder (The Creative Assembly) to another location.How do I do that and is that recommended? I have this backup software (GENIE9) that doesn't work. The vendor tell me I have to deletesome files that are in C:users/programs/appdata. The problem is: even though I am the administrator, I cannot even view what is in that folder, much less delete any files withinit.The vendor (GENIE9) is totally clueless as to how to do this.Apparently the operating system has put some severe restrictions on this folder even for users that are administrators.

I recently installed an SSD in my PC, and did a fresh install of Windows 7 in the process. I unplugged the HD with the existing install of Windows 7 during the installation process, and plugged it back in after. Now I'm trying to retrieve some settings for an app I had on my previous installation. But when I go to my old Windows 7 boot drive (now D: ) and try to access the AppData folder, it seems to be showing me the contents of my current AppData folder on C: instead. Is this what Windows does? If so, is there any way around it, so I can retrieve the application data that I'm after?

I looked up the previous threads and followed instructions. They worked for others but not for me. I tried the Fix It patches but still my problem is not fixed. Just today I noticed the following:My Op Sys was resurrected via an image that I had saved a month ago. If I try to uninstall any of the programs that came with the Image, I get error 1606. However, If I install a new program it will uninstall just fine.

I ended up getting infected with some stupid virus and had to ultimately restore to a previous saved instance of my OS.Since then my Owner/administrator account seems to have problems running applications and applying the appropriate permissions. Any apps that use the C:UsersOwnerAppData folder no longer have permission to save files to this location and I cant for the life of me figure out how to fix it.

I was trying to display Hidden Folders/files to access an appdata folder under C:Usersusernameappdata. (it's to fix an issue with the game Dead Space 2) Anyway, I opened My Computer, then C drive, then Users. In here, I right clicked on empty space and opened properties. I checked 'Hidden' and apply. Said it needed administrator rights, I accepted. Then most desktop items disappeared, most files from my documents disappeared and after reboot, The ATI catalyst control centre is popping up an error message saying 'failed to start'.I realised I chose to hide all the files within that folder instead of showing hidden files/folders..I went to folder options and chose Show Hidden file and I can see them again but they have that see through look to them. ATI catalyst still won't start on reboot. I tried system restore to yesterday but still exact same.When I go to User Properties on the C drive again, it shows the files as Read Only and Hidden is unchecked.

I have a home network with 4 computers; 3 wireless, 1 Ethernet. When they were all XP, things were working fine. Now 2 of the wireless systems have been upgraded to Windows 7 with the "family Pack" retail upgrade.
I believe I have made all the proper permissions and security policies, but this is not working. The Windows 7 system can access the XP system folders. but the XP systems can see the Windows 7 system but get an access violation error.
I've tried some of the suggestions in other thread, no joy. I turned off the McAfee firewall, but that doesn't help.
XP doesn't know anything about "Homegroups" I have a work group name and its set on all systems,
What am I missing?

I have this problem with my new Asus laptop which was fine yesterday, but cannot connect to any wireless network now. When I click the Network connections button on my task bar it shows me my internet connection with the words Limited Access next to it. I've been on google for a good 2 hours and can't really find the answer. I may know what's wrong, however. Yesterday I pressed the shutdown button on my laptop and then it starts those automatic updates that happen when you shut down. It said something like "Updating 1 of 1 updates". It took a while so I put thelaptops screen down, and when I checked on it again 5 minutes later... Blue screen. Once I've started my computer the "Network" icon is kind of "searching" but after a while it becomes red like I have no internet access. But I do got internet, I can go the internet but I can't open anything in the start menu. Then after a while again, the icon becomes "normal" and everything works fine. The code I get when I troubleshoot is "0x80070426" and the troubleshooter wont start. This is kind of annoying, I am using Windows 7 ultimate.

I currently have my Xbox 360 connected up to my Laptop via Ethernet and I am having a problem with streaming videos and music. Everything else works fine, it connects to Xbox Live etc, and connects to the Laptop and finds the video files, it just won't play them. It gives the error:
'The connection to your computer was lost. Make sure your computer is turned on, connected to the network, and running media sharing software.
Status Code: 53-C00DF238'
I can't find much information about this error apart from one person stating that the ethernet connection to their Xbox had made itself public rather than private and could fix it by changing it to private again.
This is where I'm having a problem. The connection is showing up as an unidentified network with no internet access and as a public network. I can't figure out how to change it to a private network, there just doesn't seem to be an option.
Everything else on the laptop is working fine, my firewall is configured correctly, media player 12 is sharing correctly, the homegroup is set up etc. It just won't stream the video and the only thing I can think of now is that it needs to be a private network in order to allow streaming. I just can't change it.

I have a desktop PC with a Broadcomm Gigabit ethernet onboard. I live in a rural area and do not have cable internet and I have to use wireless. I have a UM175 wireless USB device. I use the USB to connect to the internet and use "Internet Connection Sharing" to share with my local connection (Broadcomm).
I set the Broadcomm to 192.168.0.1 and all the other PC's on my home network can get to the Internet through it.
My problem is I cannot get the Broadcomm network location to get set to Home. It keeps defaulting to Public, and because it is Public, I cannot use Homegroups with it because it is being seen as a Public network.
I tried removing the wireless card and, using Device manager, I disabled the Broadcomm and re-enabled it but when it came back online it automatically reverted to "Public".

I'm trying to establish a home network between my 2 computers both running win 7 7100 (main is x64, secondary is x86). they are connected directly with an Ethernet cable. my main computer shares its Internet connection with the secondary computer (thus mains ip address for that connection is static, secondary is dynamic, assigned by dhcp).
my main computer does not recognize the network connection between the 2 computers - it shows up as an unidentified network and i cannot change its name or location (it's stuck at public).
is there any way to get my main computer to recognize the network without adding any hardware?

Im not sure if anyone else has had this problem or noticed it, but I have enabled the GPO prevent users from adding files to the root of thier users files folder on our network as we use folder re-directs to my documents which in theory should keep everything tidy. This works up until a point, if I try and browse to the location and create a file I cant. If I try and drag a file into that location I cant, but as soon as I try to save as it lets me

Okay so I just tried to add a new network location in the My Computer.
I set the network address as \MYLAPTOP but the program didn't let me do that because I need to specify a folder. I don't want to specify a folder because I just want to use the root folder. So I then typed it as \MYLAPTOP\ with an extra slash at the end. The shortcut was made but it didn't work so I tried to remove it.
Now every time I press "delete" on the shortcut Explorer.exe crashes and restarts. I tried this in safe mode with and without internet access but it always crashed.
Now I'm just looking for a way to manually delete the icon through registry or some other editor.
