Unspecified Error Code 0x80070035 - Network Path Was Not Found
Nov 27, 2009
I keep getting Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found error whenever I try to connect to any other computer (running windows 7 ultimate) on my network. I have another computer with windows 7 ultimate that does not have this problem. Firewalls are disabled on all computers. Computers all ping fine. Can ping by name too. If I try to connect via IP address, I get Error Code: Error0x80004005 Unspecified error.

Ok, I have a laptop and a desktop. Desktop is currently running 7 x64 and laptop is running 7 x86.
Few weeks ago I was able to access my LAPTOP from my DESKTOP normally by using the Network in the explorer. I was prompted to key in my Username and Password of my LAPTOP and I gained access after.
Now, I have no idea what happened to my DESKTOP. I am able to access other computers but not my LAPTOP. It keeps stating Network path not found with error code 0x80070035. Troubleshooting indicates no problems found.
I do dual-boot with Vista x64 on my DESKTOP and I am able to gain access to my LAPTOP using Vista.
One of the workaround I got for Windows 7 is to create HomeGroup and use my LAPTOP to join it and I can gain access to Network after that.
So, is this a HomeGroup bug and any fix for it?
EDIT: Never mind, I just re-create my password on my laptop and it's fine now. So, it's really weird.

"Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found" when trying to access any network shared drives. Our file server is a windows server 2003 standard edition. This problem occured yesterday on my laptop with OS windows 7 pro. I cannot access any shared folders, shared drives. I cannot access my own laptops shared folders. I can see the device on the network and can connect to my laptop and access files on my laptop from other pc's. I have checked all the services required and they are started, netbios over tcp/ip is enabled, network discovery is turned on, windows firewall is turned off and also tried disabling the antivirus on the laptop but none worked. Also tried the system restore, which did not allow me to log back into the domain giving error " Trust relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed". So had to undo the system restore.

I installed Windows 7 on my computer a little more than a week ago from Windows Vista Home Premium. My home network worked fine, and I was able to connect to the internet, share files and everything perfectly. However, starting yesterday other computers on the network could not see me and I could only see one or two other computers on the network, and I couldn't see the main computer, i.e. the one with the wireless router.
When I try to click on that computer in Windows Explorer, the green loading bar starts to fill up, but then a window pops up that says "Windows cannot access "(Name of the computer). Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise there might be a problem with your network.
To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose. Error code: 0x80070035. The network path was not found." I click Diagnose and no errors were found. I tried removing the network from my network list and resetting it up, and nothing. What should I do?

I have had my vista pc and my windows 7 (basic) net book setup to let me share files (through an Netgear DG834PN Route) for around 18 months with no problems.
However as of 3 days ago I can no longer do this and non of the network tools can fined or solve the problem. I can uses the internet though my rooter, see my vista pc on the network as well as the media streaming (windows one) thing.
I can also access my net book hard drive from my pc no problem and transfer/delete files as well?
When I do try to connect the following error message is given: "Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found"
P.s. I know windows 7 basic has not create home group ability, but it worked with the one I made on vista. I can not afford to upgrade my copy of windows 7 so that is totally out of the question.

My father and brother each has a separate Windows 7 desktop, and neither one has any problems with connectivity. There is also a Windows XP machine on the same network, and it has no problems with connectivity. The XP is attached to a shared printer that can be successfully accessed from any desktop machine on the network. Now comes the interesting bit: I have a laptop PC which I upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows Vista x64 Home Premium. I am able to see the two Windows 7 computers in the Network list, but when I double-click on them, I get the message:Windows cannot access \MACHINE-NAME Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click Diagnose.Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found. All the machines on my network have a static IP address. When I try to access any of the other Windows 7 computers on my network, I get the same message as above but with the following two lines replacing the last two lines above:
Error code: 0x80004005
Unspecified error
The troubleshooter found this problem:Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (IP address) - Detected I am unable to see the XP machine on the network list, and until recently, I have been able to view its files via IP address only. I have tried every solution I found so far, including:Disabling IPv6 Opening the desired ports in Windows Firewall Enabling Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing Releasing and renewing the IP configuration Flushing the DNS cache Clean boot for diagnostic test Enabling all P2P services?

I'm having difficulty trying to get my new Windows 7 pc set up to share files across my existing home (wired) network which consists of 1 desktop pc running WinXP and 1 laptop running WinXP.I want the 'C' drive on each of the 3 computers to be shared. I've had the 2 Windows XP computers set up and working like this for several years without a problem but I can't seem to get the 'C' drive on the Windows 7 computer to do the same. All 3 computers have the same workgroup name and none of them require passwords to log on to Windows. There are no problems with the firewalls on any of the machines. On the Windows 7 PC when I right click on the 'C' drive and select the 'Sharing' tab, I have set this up to be shared and when I click on the 'Advanced Sharing' button there is a tick in the 'Share this folder' box, the 'Share name' is 'C'. If I then click on the 'Permissions' button, this shows a 'Group or user name' 'Everyone' and this group has Full Control, Change and Read boxes ticked. As far as I can see there is nothing more I can do.
However from my Windows XP computer, when I go to My Network Places and double click on the icon for the Windows 7 'C' drive, I get the message "\Computername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The network path was not found"I've subsequently set up a sub folder (of the Windows 7 'C' drive) for sharing by right clicking on the folder, choosing 'Share with' and then selecting 'Specific people'. I then set up a group called 'Everyone' with read/write permissions. Now I can navigate to this folder from my 2 WinXP computers.

In a network with 10 computers, the PC-2 can access everyone but the PC-5. All other computers can access each other and PC-5 can also access everyone else.
Where is the bug? The PC-2 has the bug right? Why is it only one PC that the PC-2 cannot access?
Basic routines are checked I think: All running windows 7 All having same network sharing settings, Network discovery ON (both home and public) File sharing ON (both home and public) Public folder sharing ON (both home and public) Password OFF (both home and public)
Error message say: "Check the spelling of the name." (?!?!)

my new laptop is less than a week old.
hp dv6-2044ca.
and I've been trying to configure a home network with the workgroup, WORKGROUP
i need to share files between a XP Desktop and a Laptop that has Windows 7.
i have followed a lot of guides and tips by now but i cannot get it to work!
on my laptop, it recognizes the XP computer, but fails to open it
it says i have the naming wrong, yet i know it is correct.
diagnose doesn't help and Pinging the ip address says request timed out 4 times, thne something about 100% packet loss.
on the xp computer side, it recognizes my laptop and can access files
as for network settings, it should be all correct cause i followed this guide that i found on a post by a Microsoft worker (i think).
i just cannot figure out what is wrong.
and the error is 0x80070035
my purpose for this is to access Desktop and the printer connected to it
as well as the shared documents folder,..

I have a 11.04 ubuntu samba share that is serving files to my network (though I don't really think this is relevant). I have 2 Windows 7 64bit machines (1 laptop/1desktop) that can access these files fine, however I have 1 Windows 7 32bit that is unable to access the files. (I even think it may have been able to before.)When I browse the network and go to SERVER it says:
"Windows cannot access \SERVER.... the network path was not found"
HOWEVER when I navigate to \192.168.1.151 with explorer it works fine. What I have tried:
* I have removed all wireless networks and reauthenticated.
* I have set all network configs to the most open possible: network browsing: ON, sharing: ON, homegroup: Off and password authenticate.
* Disabled Norton Internet Security firewall (also on the other two computers)
Again this server is perfectly accessible from all other computers (even a third laptop come to think of it), so it must be something stupid with this one laptop.

So over the past few days, I've painstakingly setup a new Sandy Bridge PC just the way I like it and was preparing to transplant it into my existing system when I discovered I can't access any network shares! It worked fine when it was a completely clean install with just the driver loaded.
System A: DIY Sandy Bridge PC with Windows 7 x64 SP1.
System B: DIY Athlon 64 X2 PC with Windows 7 x86.
System C: Gateway Notebook with Windows 7 x86.
All systems are using MSE for AV, have the firewall and password protected sharing OFF. Network discovery, file and printer sharing, and public folder sharing are on. A gives me error code 0x80070035 (network path not found) when I try to acceses any shares on the network, even its own. A only sees B on the network, not C. B and C can access all shares, inlcuding A's shares. All the systems can ping each other. I thought perhaps when I was setting up A that I disabled a service or feature that caused this, but I've set everything back to way it was and it still doesn't work. I've also tried a second NIC.

I downloaded the .exe for 7 Home Premium from the UK Ultimate Steal site. It says it's preparing setup1.box, but eventually it gives me an error message saying "Unspecified Error".
The .iso is equally annoying, I burned it to a DVD and tried to get my laptop to boot from the DVD drive. It waited a moment and then booted from the hard drive. I burned to a different DVD and attempted to boot from DVD drive, it did the same. I then tried to boot a DVD containing Ubuntu. This booted perfectly fine.

3 PC's all running Windows 7 Ultimate
1 Desktop connection via wire to router
2 Laptops connected via Wireless (Linksys wrg54g)
All 3 PC's are visible on all 3 PC's via the Homegroup in Windows Explorer. I can browse/copy/write files on all 3. All sweet. All 3 can print to the 2 Printers connected to the Desktop.
Laptop A is configured to Backup using the Windows 7 Backup to the Desktop. This works fine.
Laptop B however when trying to backup to the desktop I get an error message after I have selected the Drive in the setup screen and I've entered my username/password credentials
The error code is 0x80070043
I've tried everything and I'm quite experienced.
Both laptops for all intents and purposes are identical.

I have a Desktop computer with Windows 7 (32 bit) and a laptop with Windows 7 (64 bit). I'm trying to set up a network printer, so I can print from my laptop using my desktop computeer printer. I've set up my wireless computer which uses Windows Xp just fine, and can print from that computer. But when I try to add a network printer on my laptop, as it's finishing installation, an error message pops up saying "cannot connect to printer" error code 0x0000000d. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Is it possible to set up a 64 bit with a 32 bit computer?

- Windows Backup skipped C:UsersxxxxxDocuments because is it on corrupted drive C:.
- Windows Backup skipped c:UsersPublicvideos because is it on corrupted drive C:.
- Windows Backup skipped c:UsersxxxxxAppDataLocalLow because is it on corrupted drive C:.

When I try to create a system image on a network location Windows asks for Network credentials for the target location. The credentials I enter are correct but I always get an error message that the location can't be used because the password is not correct (Error code 0x80070056).
Is this a bug in Windows 7? Any way to fix or work around this?

Once I've started my computer the "Network" icon is kind of "searching" but after a while it becomes red like I have no internet access. But I do got internet, I can go the internet but I can't open anything in the start menu. Then after a while again, the icon becomes "normal" and everything works fine. The code I get when I troubleshoot is "0x80070426" and the troubleshooter wont start. This is kind of annoying, I am using Windows 7 ultimate.

Running Win 7 Home with all latest updates. Why can't I access all Windows 7 functions in normal way, yet I can access them directly by a workaround? I recently found that I could not access the administrator functions for computer management on my home computer. For instance, when right clicking on the main "Computer" icon on my desktop and selecting "Manage" I would get an unspecified error. Going in through control panel I could not access many system admin tools and when I try I get error of you may not "have the appropriate permissions" This applies to "Services" "Component Services" "Computer Management".
Workaround: Today I found that I can open the administrative tool folder in Explorer directly and then right click on one of the management functions and select "Run as Administrator." Then it let's me in OK and I can control things. It's only the usual ways of accessing these controls that I can not now do. This is my personal computer and I'm logged on as administrator, the only account on the system, AND it is telling me I can't access all the files on my own computer's hard drive that you normally use to manage win 7. It's not networked files I'm trying to use but my own Win 7 computer's hard drive, e.g. I get the error when I click on own Desktop Computer Icon and select "Manage."
