Aug 9, 2011I'm having difficulty trying to get my new Windows 7 pc set up to share files across my existing home (wired) network which consists of 1 desktop pc running WinXP and 1 laptop running WinXP.I want the 'C' drive on each of the 3 computers to be shared. I've had the 2 Windows XP computers set up and working like this for several years without a problem but I can't seem to get the 'C' drive on the Windows 7 computer to do the same.All 3 computers have the same workgroup name and none of them require passwords to log on to Windows. There are no problems with the firewalls on any of the machines.On the Windows 7 PC when I right click on the 'C' drive and select the 'Sharing' tab, I have set this up to be shared and when I click on the 'Advanced Sharing' button there is a tick in the 'Share this folder' box, the 'Share name' is 'C'. If I then click on the 'Permissions' button, this shows a 'Group or user name' 'Everyone' and this group has Full Control, Change and Read boxes ticked. As far as I can see there is nothing more I can do.
However from my Windows XP computer, when I go to My Network Places and double click on the icon for the Windows 7 'C' drive, I get the message "\Computername is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.The network path was not found"I've subsequently set up a sub folder (of the Windows 7 'C' drive) for sharing by right clicking on the folder, choosing 'Share with' and then selecting 'Specific people'. I then set up a group called 'Everyone' with read/write permissions. Now I can navigate to this folder from my 2 WinXP computers.

Dec 13, 2012i installed a fresh copy of windows 7 onto my laptop and everything checks out i create a username and name the computer etc but then when it gets time to sign into my account it pops up with network path not found and doesnt let me sign in prompts me for a password when i dont have one too, allows me to click over and select different user and password but i have no other accounts on there, tried to reinstall it after formating the HD again but still no luck

Jul 16, 2011In IE8, do people use it? I find it blocks something on every web page I visit so I'm always seeing the exclamation point. And wondering if it is making the web page not display properly. On a few sites I was able to allow some things to make the pages display correct but then it has to be run with "choose which content to block" which seems basically the same as not running it at all. I couldn't find a lot of info about it. Only how to turn it on or off.

Jan 20, 2009Ok, I have a laptop and a desktop. Desktop is currently running 7 x64 and laptop is running 7 x86.
Few weeks ago I was able to access my LAPTOP from my DESKTOP normally by using the Network in the explorer. I was prompted to key in my Username and Password of my LAPTOP and I gained access after.
Now, I have no idea what happened to my DESKTOP. I am able to access other computers but not my LAPTOP. It keeps stating Network path not found with error code 0x80070035. Troubleshooting indicates no problems found.
I do dual-boot with Vista x64 on my DESKTOP and I am able to gain access to my LAPTOP using Vista.
One of the workaround I got for Windows 7 is to create HomeGroup and use my LAPTOP to join it and I can gain access to Network after that.
So, is this a HomeGroup bug and any fix for it?
EDIT: Never mind, I just re-create my password on my laptop and it's fine now. So, it's really weird.
Make Computer Remember The Path?
Jan 30, 2012I am scanning docs to my inbox. I then open, rename and save to a specific folder. My old computer used to remember the path I chose after the 1st time. Now I have to select the directory, then go through several folders & subfolders to get to the correct folder every time . This is very time consuming. Can I set it so that the path is remembered and takes me directly to the folder?

Jan 7, 2012I have just built my first pc, and I am stuck at installing windows 7 . Here's what happens, I am trying to install off a USB stick as I don't have a dvd drive for this build. It will load into the setup and it'll stop on a screen requiring me to load drivers.
Here is what it displays:
"A required CD/DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now".
So I found drivers for my mobo Asus M5A97, I select them and then after I click next this message appears: "No new devices could be found. Make sure the driver files are correct and located on the driver installation media".
I don't know what to do! I've tried all I can think of!! Nothing seems to work! I am trying to install windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, I've tried installing windows vista 32 bit, and its been saying the same thing as well! I found the drivers here: [URL].

However, for some reason, I cannot get Windows 7 to see the new boot file.I constructed the original boot system with EasyBCD. Absolutely no problems whatsoever. When I started up the software to make the dual-boot system, it said it couldn't find my boot files. So, I constructed the dual-boot system, and I wrote it on the drive. However, when I start up the computer, I still see the old triple boot menu. I tried clearing it with the Windows 7 restore disk, but it doesn't see Windows 7 on the hard drive.

Jul 1, 2011I have a 11.04 ubuntu samba share that is serving files to my network (though I don't really think this is relevant). I have 2 Windows 7 64bit machines (1 laptop/1desktop) that can access these files fine, however I have 1 Windows 7 32bit that is unable to access the files. (I even think it may have been able to before.)When I browse the network and go to SERVER it says:
"Windows cannot access \SERVER.... the network path was not found"
HOWEVER when I navigate to \192.168.1.151 with explorer it works fine. What I have tried:
* I have removed all wireless networks and reauthenticated.
* I have set all network configs to the most open possible: network browsing: ON, sharing: ON, homegroup: Off and password authenticate.
* Disabled Norton Internet Security firewall (also on the other two computers)
Again this server is perfectly accessible from all other computers (even a third laptop come to think of it), so it must be something stupid with this one laptop.

Our file server is a windows server 2003 standard edition.This problem occured yesterday on my laptop with OS windows 7 pro. I cannot access any shared folders, shared drives. I cannot access my own laptops shared folders. I can see the device on the network and can connect to my laptop and access files on my laptop from other pc's. I have checked all the services required and they are started, netbios over tcp/ip is enabled, network discovery is turned on, windows firewall is turned off and also tried disabling the antivirus on the laptop but none worked. Also tried the system restore, which did not allow me to log back into the domain giving error " Trust relationship between this workstation and primary domain failed". So had to undo the system restore.

How To Display Full File Path In Start
Jan 7, 2012win 7 home premium on HP pavilion, i do a start ---> search programs and files and it gives me the resultant file but without its path. sometimes thats a fat lot of use! (i've lost the right-click function so cant do quick lookup for properties) what do i have to do to make the search results display the full path of the file? also, if the result shows more than one file and i click on one of them, the result window vanishes so i have to start the search again to find the next file. how do i make the search window stay put until i tell it to go away?

Im not good with computers at all but I have Windows 7 and I played it on this computer before and I have a good computer so I know it's compatible.I put the Cd in and click the green launch Icon and the main menu comes up. I click install then it comes up with the four total wars and I check all of them and click next, and then when I get to the next page it asks me to put in disc 2 and select where I would like to install it. I put in the Cd and then pick where to install it (Default is the CD it is being installed from) I have tried my C drive and my external drive but neither works. A error message pops up and says Setup could not find a file or the specified path or disc. Please check that the proper disk is insert or specify new path.

They come up with the error message in the subject of this post. And it says i may not have permission to view the files? These are programs i downloaded such as skype, vlc media player, google talk, audacity, utorrent. Things like that. Only 1 did it at first, now 5.Really annoying and I cant see a reason for it. So I usually will have to download the program again, but I cant keep doing that and it doesnt always work anyway.One idea i had , i thought it might be a problem to do with AVG virus killer thing.I have AVG free virus killer thing but it keeps crashing. It says many files are unhealable cos theyre unabale to locate the file. and also it indicates that there is a problem with one of the AVG files. Sometimes avg wont respond . (it says not responding)Does anyone have an idea of what I should look into ? I never had a problem with windows 98 until they started making stuff that only runs on later versions. I used to play worms on windows 98 for 8 hours a day.

Apr 5, 2012my issue is though all my files, documents, start menu & icons are where they should be if i try to access them it gives me the message"Windows cannot acces the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them."There is only my profile on the install of windows and I am the administrator, i've tried from the start menu - run - CMD with admin privileges and it gives me the same message. I've tried to Take ownership but that option isn't available in the drop down menu - it doesn't restrict me accessing any file or folder just the running of any file.In safe mode i've ran AV & AS programs including - Spybot S&D, Superantispyware, Avast, Malwarebytes AM & Microsoft security essentials - and none of them have found anything except a few cookies the first time through which it removed and changed nothing, as you would expect. I am also running Online Armour as my firewall but had turned off the program guard to install couple of programs, but not the webshield. As i mentioned above in Safe Mode i can run most programs no problem including the AV's. I also run Msconfig in safe mode to see if i could see a service or startup program i don't recognise as i've experimented with alot of them when i was running XP and there doesn't appear to be something that looks out of place.
