How To Display Full File Path In Start
Jan 7, 2012win 7 home premium on HP pavilion, i do a start ---> search programs and files and it gives me the resultant file but without its path. sometimes thats a fat lot of use! (i've lost the right-click function so cant do quick lookup for properties) what do i have to do to make the search results display the full path of the file? also, if the result shows more than one file and i click on one of them, the result window vanishes so i have to start the search again to find the next file. how do i make the search window stay put until i tell it to go away?

Now I have to select the directory, then go through several folders & subfolders to get to the correct folder every time . This is very time consuming. Mar 28, 2012Every icon on my taskbar only open off screen. I can see they are open by the thumbnail picture, but I can't make it my active window. I have tried the alt-tab, move method but still can't get them to appear. Is the problem caused because my computer thinks there are two monitors, when I actually have only one? May 31, 2012I have several HDD and one SSD. The SSD was my boot "C" drive and single win 7 OS. The SSD failed so I installed Win 7 on one of the back-up HDD. The install made that drive "C". I replaced the SSD and installed WIn 7 as a second OS on the SSD and it became drive "B". I can boot to either OS install on start-up but regardless of which install I boot with, drive "C" becomes the active system drive, even though the desktops are different (as they shoujld be for the two OS installs). SO, even if I boot from the SSD "B" drive, in windows disk manamgent it indicates that "C" is the "system" and "active" drive while it will indicate that "B" is the "boot" drive.
I want to format drive C so I can change its drive letter and reinstall Win 7 as a single OS to the SSD and make it drive "C", but windows will not let me change drive letters or format the current HDD labeled as "C" - obviously because it considers it the active sytem drive even when I've booted from the "B" SSD.

I have found some others attached to Win XP but have to do with the installation of some software which prevents access to explorer.exe. When I boot in safe mode this issue does not appear...

How To Use Thumbnail Switch Active File
May 24, 2011Usually I have opened a lot of excell files and they are very similar each other. I recognize them by the title on the thumnail on windows taskbar. If I click on a file that is open in backgroud it switch on desktop, but if it is already on desktop it goes to background.
This is very unpleasant to me. When I click on a thumbnail I want THAT window. What can I do?
Cannot Make Full Recovery Discs
May 22, 2011I have been trying to make recovery discs for the Toshiba Satellite laptop. I went throught the Recovery Disc Creator Wizard which informed me to have five DVD discs ready. By following the onboard instructions I completed three discs on Verbatim DVD-R 8.5 GB: Recovery Disc 1 and 2, and a 3rd Windows Recovery Environment disc. However, when I was starting the 4th disc the computer fist failed to acknowledge it and then opened the drawer requiring another disc. The disc was empty as far as I know but I went back to the shop and bought five more discs and the system also rejects these although they are identical. However, the applications disc requirement states either a 4.5 or flashmedia to be inserted to make only one disc. I think I will buy the 4.5 disc and see if it works.

Mar 20, 2012I've been running windows 7 trouble free for aprox 1 year. I attempted to turn my PC on last night and got as far as black screen with cursor spinning, windows would not load. I booted into safe mode and ran superantispyware, malwarebytes, kaspersky....all came back finding nothing. From safe mode (or any mode) I can not acccess control panel, computer, etc; when I attempt to access I get the folllowing error msg, "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. Dec 26, 2011So I bought this like a year ago and only had the basic Medieval installed (Without kingdoms) I got into it again and wanted to play it with kingdoms so I deleted Medieval and tried reinstalling it again. Im not good with computers at all but I have Windows 7 and I played it on this computer before and I have a good computer so I know it's compatible.I put the Cd in and click the green launch Icon and the main menu comes up. I click install then it comes up with the four total wars and I check all of them and click next, and then when I get to the next page it asks me to put in disc 2 and select where I would like to install it. I put in the Cd and then pick where to install it (Default is the CD it is being installed from) I have tried my C drive and my external drive but neither works. A error message pops up and says Setup could not find a file or the specified path or disc. Please check that the proper disk is insert or specify new path.

Apr 12, 2011I have looked for an answer online but most of either does not work or is very complicated for your average man.Windows 98 was the best operating system, everyone knows thatWindows 7 has been treating me fine until recently.Over the last week, 4 or 5 different programs that I have been using , wont load. They come up with the error message in the subject of this post. And it says i may not have permission to view the files? These are programs i downloaded such as skype, vlc media player, google talk, audacity, utorrent. Things like that. Only 1 did it at first, now 5.Really annoying and I cant see a reason for it. So I usually will have to download the program again, but I cant keep doing that and it doesnt always work anyway.One idea i had , i thought it might be a problem to do with AVG virus killer thing.I have AVG free virus killer thing but it keeps crashing. It says many files are unhealable cos theyre unabale to locate the file. and also it indicates that there is a problem with one of the AVG files. Sometimes avg wont respond . (it says not responding)Does anyone have an idea of what I should look into ? I never had a problem with windows 98 until they started making stuff that only runs on later versions. I used to play worms on windows 98 for 8 hours a day.

Apr 5, 2012my issue is though all my files, documents, start menu & icons are where they should be if i try to access them it gives me the message"Windows cannot acces the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them."There is only my profile on the install of windows and I am the administrator, i've tried from the start menu - run - CMD with admin privileges and it gives me the same message. I've tried to Take ownership but that option isn't available in the drop down menu - it doesn't restrict me accessing any file or folder just the running of any file.In safe mode i've ran AV & AS programs including - Spybot S&D, Superantispyware, Avast, Malwarebytes AM & Microsoft security essentials - and none of them have found anything except a few cookies the first time through which it removed and changed nothing, as you would expect. I am also running Online Armour as my firewall but had turned off the program guard to install couple of programs, but not the webshield. As i mentioned above in Safe Mode i can run most programs no problem including the AV's. I also run Msconfig in safe mode to see if i could see a service or startup program i don't recognise as i've experimented with alot of them when i was running XP and there doesn't appear to be something that looks out of place.
