As mentioned above, I can not get windows explorer to show the full file path even when I click in the empty space. I have looked everywhere for how to fix this. It also does not copy the full file path when you ask it to do so. I don't want to go to classic. My hard drive died in my laptop. I replaced it with a new ssd. I was unable to get my copy of windows. This is a fresh install

(i've lost the right-click function so cant do quick lookup for properties) what do i have to do to make the search results display the full path of the file? also, if the result shows more than one file and i click on one of them, the result window vanishes so i have to start the search again to find the next file. how do i make the search window stay put until i tell it to go away?

Got the files recovered and transfered to a backup drive, installed a new F/ drive and as I began re-installing program files, discovered I couldn't use Explorer right-click to copy data files to a different directory. I tried the NirSof shexview program to disable all context menu items, no joy, even in safe mode. I made a crashdmp file, but don't know how to open or read it. Per other threads, I've uploaded that to skydrive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm putting together a slide show of 3D images that I want to show on my TV next week when we have company.I would like the images to stay on the screen a little longer without having to actually create a slide show in some special application like Premiere.
The Slide Show function in Explorer works great if I can control the timing.
I was using my desktop like normal then an error came up saying that there was a hdd failure, and that i needed to scan for errors. all my files disappeared and only this error would come up. There would be hundreds of the same msg spamed on my screen. I scaned my hdd for errors using my Bios/Advanced options and no errors came up. I decided to take out the hdd and put it into my External Hdd bay to hook up to my laptop to extract the data off it.When i hooked it up to my laptop it showed up empty. I went into folder options and clicked on show hidden files and folders. Everything came up but it was grey/transparent. I then copied the files to another hdd for backup.
Then i formatted the hdd and put on a fresh new OS. Id like to mention i have a second internal drive that i use for backups but it wasnt backed up recently when this issue happen so i had to take out the main drive and use it as an external to back up onto another external drive.so then when i click on my second internal drive after the reinstall of the new OS it shows empty i have to go in and show hidden files and folders.. now they show again transparent. also i plug in my external to get the recent back up and all those files are still transparent when i move them to my desktop that is freshly OS installed they are still grey/transparent and i have to keep the show hidden files and folders to view them.. so its all my music, pics, documents etc they are all greyed out..i tried to copy my backup IE favs into my new IE browser and they wont show up because they are hiden it shows it copied to the favs folder but in ie i cannot view them if that makes any sense.
Starting a few hours ago out of nowhere my computer screen will only enlarge to about 90 percent regardless of the browser (Firefox and Internet Explorer) and even software programs such as music editing or anti virus.I have a Toshiba Dual Core Windows 7 with Norton 360/C Cleaner/Spybot that are run daily.

I attempted to turn my PC on last night and got as far as black screen with cursor spinning, windows would not load. I booted into safe mode and ran superantispyware, malwarebytes, kaspersky....all came back finding nothing. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them."There is only my profile on the install of windows and I am the administrator, i've tried from the start menu - run - CMD with admin privileges and it gives me the same message. I've tried to Take ownership but that option isn't available in the drop down menu - it doesn't restrict me accessing any file or folder just the running of any file.In safe mode i've ran AV & AS programs including - Spybot S&D, Superantispyware, Avast, Malwarebytes AM & Microsoft security essentials - and none of them have found anything except a few cookies the first time through which it removed and changed nothing, as you would expect. I am also running Online Armour as my firewall but had turned off the program guard to install couple of programs, but not the webshield. As i mentioned above in Safe Mode i can run most programs no problem including the AV's. I also run Msconfig in safe mode to see if i could see a service or startup program i don't recognise as i've experimented with alot of them when i was running XP and there doesn't appear to be something that looks out of place.

when comes to PC with Windows 7 (which I hate BTW! For me best was the one before "Vista" - I think it was "Windows XP"?)!That said - when using IE8 every single time when I click a link the page opens up in new window but reduced in size and I always have to "maximize" it to view it. It is driving me nuts! I have been told more than once that a window will open the same way that it was closed - not true! Reduced window does not happen when using Mozilla. Must be simple option for me to make a change - but how? Where?

It will do this three or four times and then be completely fine for the rest of the day. I thought it was down to my Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio drivers, but now I am not so sure.
