Every icon on my taskbar only open off screen. I can see they are open by the thumbnail picture, but I can't make it my active window. I have tried the alt-tab, move method but still can't get them to appear. Is the problem caused because my computer thinks there are two monitors, when I actually have only one? How do I stop this from happening?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have several HDD and one SSD. The SSD was my boot "C" drive and single win 7 OS. The SSD failed so I installed Win 7 on one of the back-up HDD. The install made that drive "C". I replaced the SSD and installed WIn 7 as a second OS on the SSD and it became drive "B". I can boot to either OS install on start-up but regardless of which install I boot with, drive "C" becomes the active system drive, even though the desktops are different (as they shoujld be for the two OS installs). SO, even if I boot from the SSD "B" drive, in windows disk manamgent it indicates that "C" is the "system" and "active" drive while it will indicate that "B" is the "boot" drive.
I want to format drive C so I can change its drive letter and reinstall Win 7 as a single OS to the SSD and make it drive "C", but windows will not let me change drive letters or format the current HDD labeled as "C" - obviously because it considers it the active sytem drive even when I've booted from the "B" SSD.
In windows 7 there is a glaze on the active window, but in a cruel joke by MS, every other window also has a glaze (just a bit less).Note: My taskbar is using the old style from Win XP.How do I fix this? Ive tried playing with the themes, and at best I can make the active window look more obvious, but never that apparent... The other solution is to use "classic theme" but I lose Areo

It seems like ever since WinXP and probably before that, some windows that open creep under the taskbar. So when this happens, I have to move my taskbar in order to close the window. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have only had my Asus CM 1730-03 desktop for 4 days and it works fine except one very important thing. Four out of 5 times when I turn it on, it shows the Asus logo and the Windows 7 logo and plays the Windows 7 music, then I see a black screen with an active cursor that I can move with the mouse. No key commands work, like CTRL-ALT-DELETE. All I can do is hold the power button in until it turns off, then turn it on again. Even when it does boot successfully and I use it for a while, when it goes into rest mode, I get the same black screen and active cursor and have to power down again.
The only installations I have done are Kapersky anti-virus and an internal Linksys Wireless-G adapter from my old computer. At first I did not install the software for the wireless adapter, but I took it out of the PC today, installed the software successfully, and re-installed the adapter (per the instructions) and the computer is still behaving the exact same way.
By default the icons for programs I'm using in the taskbar (firefox, fl studio, etc.) are on the left, right next to the start menu button. How can I make them on the right, next to the notification area icons?

I had set some of rarely-used system folders in my user folder (such as "Desktop," "Searches" etc.) as hidden, and selected "Do not show hidden folders, etc." in Folder Options. These hidden folders are not shown in Windows explorer's window, but they show up on the taskbar's toolbar. Is there a way to keep them hidden on the taskbar as well?

Just shows me a black screen which fades back to a icon-less desktop. Solutions regarding finding explorer.exe and running it to show desktop icons don't work either.Just pops out the explorer window showing the desktop.And don't even start on right clicking desktop and select show icons.... cause that's the first thing I tried. System restore in safe mode yielded no results. Virus and malware scans turn up a clean bill. I'm only short of reformatting the pc, and I'm not even sure if I'm able to run the reformat from windows.

This is what it normally looks like and should always look likeAs you can see indicated by the red line, there is a space between my web browser and the task bar.However if I restart my computer or if I open up a full screen game this is what happens:As you can see the space disappears. I prefer the look with the space but the only way to get it back is move the taskbar back to the bottom, then move it back to the topThe space comes back if I do that.However I should also mention that if I keep the taskbar on the bottom and turn off autohide, the space will be there as well but when I restart the computer the same problem occurs down there as well.
