View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm on Windows 7 Professional 64 bits My motherboard has an onboard graphics card that works just fine. I installed an old PCI graphics card in order to use more monitors (TNT2 Riva by NVidia). The card is so old that it doesn't have a driver for Windows 7 64bits (it seems that it works in 32 bits)As a result Windows 7 uses a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" as the driver, the monitor and card works but it wont let me go above 1024x780, is there any way to force a higher resolution in this driver? Both my monitor and card can support it?

View 1 Replies View RelatedMy OS is Windows 7 32-bit. I'm using 2 monitors. The first one is from my laptop, Thinkpad T400 which has a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels. The second one is a 18.5-inch LCD (G900HD from BENQ), which has a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels.
I need to use both of them at the same time (to view more windows simultaneously). We all know that this is possible if we choose the right option in "Control PanelAppearance and PersonalizationDisplayScreen Resolution".
My problem is that I cannot choose the right setting for my second resolution, because its native resolution (1366 x 768) does not appear in the suggested list, as you can see from the below picture:
As a result, text and images displayed in my second monitor seem to be blurry. So my question is how to set my second monitor's resolution back to its original state?
I am confused by the screen resolution of my Windows 7 Media Centre PC. I'm running Win 7 Pro with a 16:9 widescreen monitor which claims to have a native resolution of 1366 x 768. I've never been able to set that in Windows or the video driver.7MC has the monitor set to 1024 x 768 (4:3) but nevertheless shows a fullscreen image with a 16:9 aspect ratio and works perfectly. When I first installed Win 7 the desktop was also set to 1024 x 768 but the image was stretched horizontally so that it filled the widescreen but was horribly distorted.I discovered that setting the Windows desktop to 1148 x 648 (16:9) almost fills the whole display, just leaving thin black lines on either side and filling it vertically. As this is the correct aspect ratio I was happy to live with the slight reduction in size. 7MC is unaffected and continues using the whole screen at, presumably, some secret alternative to 1024 x 768.Since the 648 vertical resolution is being stretched to 768 to occupy the full height of the monitor I presume the 1148 horizontal resolution is being stretched by the same factor. This would make the horizontal resolution 1361, very close to the 1366 x 768 the monitor wants.
I took screenshots of both the MCE screen and the Windows desktop, expecting that the image dimensions would be related to one of the preceding resolutions. However, they are both 1952 x 648, with the actual screen image in the left hand 1148 x 648 area and an empty desktop section to the right. This makes no sense to me whatsoever. Somewhere and somehow there's a lot of rescaling or cropping of the monitor image and I'd love to know what's going on. I need to know this because I'm trying to set TunerfreeMCE up and want to tell it the screen coordinates of various buttons on a flash catchup service for a particular channel so it can trigger play etc. I just don't know which coordinate set to use!The display adapter is a Radeon 9600...did I mention this was old? I had exactly the same problems with Vista previously, have just upgraded and would like finally to get it right.
How do I add a custom screen resolution in windows 7? my screen is a 22" but I recently ordered a new cable and since then it will only work on displays up to 19"

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Envy 14. It has been working fine, except for when I reboot. For some reason, when I reboot, my screen goes black. My homescreen inevitably pops up, and a popup says that it was a graphics card error. This is fine, because I still get my stuff back. However..Today, windows 7 (x64) said it had updates, so I update and reboot. After the reboot, my computer was in a completely different resolution (800x600).I tried right clicking and going to "screen resolution", but it wouldn't let me change back to my old resolution (1366x768 or something like that). It says that the only other setting is 1024x768. I have full administrative rights, I haven't installed or used any programs except the windows install. The last program I used was GIMP. Why won't it let me change back my resolution?

View 1 Replies View RelatedBefore upgrade I had a max screen size of 1280 x 800, and if I set to a smaller size, the image still filled the screen. This size is of course WXGA . Since upgrade I have a max of 1028 x 768 which does not fill the screen, and if I choose a smaller one,e.g. 800 x 600, the image visibly shrinks still further. I am told that I may need a new driver ; now the machine specification, and the label on the machine say the graphics is Nviidia GeForce Go 7400 GPU , but when I look at Device Manager it says that the Display adaptor is " Standard VGA Graphics Adaptor" Have I somehow ( in the upgrade) lost the Nvidia set and gone to something else on the motherboard ? how can I get my full screen back ?

View 1 Replies View Relatedfor the past month i have had an issue where before the log in screen would show, it would be a blank screen with a cursor, that i could move. (It worked normal in safe mode) I normally would just ignore this problem and it seemed to go back to normal after a little while. Well yesterday it didn't go away, so i went online looking for a solution, in safe mode. I've read to disable/enable drivers, re-install drivers, just plenty of things. And the result of all this is that my screen resolution wont go back to normal, and there is a black border around my screen, around a half inch. Also, my computer has been running EXTREME slow lately.

an ASUS EEE PC.
I installed Windows Thin PC on it, a more 'compact' version of Windows 7. All the drivers automatically installed but the VGA driver doesn't work.Basicly when I [Right Click -> Screen Resolution] the box with the resolutions is grey and stuck to 800x600.I know it can do 1024x768 'cause it did so on XP but I had battery/ACPI issues. So I moved to Windows Thin PC.I have tried a number of registry hacks but nothing works...

i did install chipset and display drivers, but still i couldnt have good resolution for my toshiba sattelite
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs there any way to force the Standard VGA Driver to display in 1280x1024 32bit? If I look at the modes available, then I find 1280x1024, but only in 16bit.
I have an old Nvidia GeForce2 MX/400, and after installing the XP drivers I was able to run at 1280x1024 in 32bit, but I was getting some crashes in nv4_mini.sys when trying to install DVDFab. "The Internet" tells me that this is due to the XP drivers, so I uninstalled them again and rolled back to the Standard VGA Driver and was able to install the software. But now I am limited to 16bit again.
So, is there any way to force this?
Is there a way to have 1280x1024@75hz with gpu scaling on i really don't like seeing black bars. 60hz is just to choppy when playing cod4 i had it setup before but then i updated my drivers and now cod4 is locked at 60hz again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFew days ago I caught a virus (at least I believe I did)... Used Malwarebytes and found 7 infected files in my Windows Folder. The first few syptoms of my OS was the resolution of the screen changed to 1024x768 (it should be 1920x1080) and is stuck there. The refresh rate changed from 60Hz to 59Hz, when I tried to change it back, the screen just flashes black but the tab still says 59Hz. So I reinstalled Windows 7 with the upgrade option from the OS disk, hoping to fix everything. But it didn't...
My bios was also messed up, everything was reset and edges of my screen was cutten off. The booting animation of Windows 7 is now changed to the Vista's booting animation. I reflashed the bios and that fixed that, now I've done a clean install of Windows 7, formating C: then installing. But all problems still persists... even there is no more virus found by 5 anti-virus programs. I'm still stuck in 1024x768, Windows 7 thinks my hdmi cable is apparently a dvi cable, the refresh rate is still 59Hz, the booting animation is the Vista's one.
I have a Dell Monitor model # 1908fwpt and we have used it as an external for a few laptops now, and on the last two hook-ups it has constant, non-flickering white horizontal lines across the screen. The only resolution that doesn't is 1280x1024 for some reason. I have changed the cables, used both VGA and DVI, and run the self-diagnostics and updated all drivers. I have chased this issue up and down and not been able to come up with a way to fix it. The monitor is not old, it hasn't been used very much, and I really don't want to replace it...
Since its done it on a few different computers I tend to think its not a driver issue, or a cable issue... And the one resolution it works on is all stretched out and flat.
