Make Hidden Folders Not Show Up On The Taskbar's Toolbar?
Jun 22, 2012
I added my user folder as a toolbar to the taskbar for quick access to its subfolders and files. I had set some of rarely-used system folders in my user folder (such as "Desktop," "Searches" etc.) as hidden, and selected "Do not show hidden folders, etc." in Folder Options. These hidden folders are not shown in Windows explorer's window, but they show up on the taskbar's toolbar. Is there a way to keep them hidden on the taskbar as well?
I am trying to get my music off my ipod to my laptop win 7 home. 32 bit. When I goto folder options and select show hidden types. I hit apply and ok. but it wont show up and when I return to the menu it stays on hide hidden files.
Is there any way that I can make the activated default/hidden Administrator account to show up only when booted in Safe Mode but not when in Normal Mode.
I was using my desktop like normal then an error came up saying that there was a hdd failure, and that i needed to scan for errors. all my files disappeared and only this error would come up. There would be hundreds of the same msg spamed on my screen. I scaned my hdd for errors using my Bios/Advanced options and no errors came up. I decided to take out the hdd and put it into my External Hdd bay to hook up to my laptop to extract the data off it.When i hooked it up to my laptop it showed up empty. I went into folder options and clicked on show hidden files and folders. Everything came up but it was grey/transparent. I then copied the files to another hdd for backup.
Then i formatted the hdd and put on a fresh new OS. Id like to mention i have a second internal drive that i use for backups but it wasnt backed up recently when this issue happen so i had to take out the main drive and use it as an external to back up onto another external drive.so then when i click on my second internal drive after the reinstall of the new OS it shows empty i have to go in and show hidden files and folders.. now they show again transparent. also i plug in my external to get the recent back up and all those files are still transparent when i move them to my desktop that is freshly OS installed they are still grey/transparent and i have to keep the show hidden files and folders to view them.. so its all my music, pics, documents etc they are all greyed out..i tried to copy my backup IE favs into my new IE browser and they wont show up because they are hiden it shows it copied to the favs folder but in ie i cannot view them if that makes any sense.
Yesterday I made one folder hidden in my F:/ drive. Today I want to un-hide it. I went to "Folder and Search Options" >> View Tab and then "Show hidden files and folders". Then I applied and OK the changes. Still I don't see my hidden file. The F:/ drive shows that I have 7GB of data in it. But it shows a folder of 98MB only.
I know that I can access the desktop through the far right of the toolbar, but I want what I've had for years the simple little show desktop icon on the bottom left/middle. I created the "showdesktop.scf" file on the desktop, but I can't seem to get it to pin to the taskbar it will pin to everything else: the start menu, windows explorer, my grandpa's beard but how can I get it to just sit there on the taskbar?
I have the setting "Hide Taskbar" selected, yet I find it often refuses to stay hidden. It seems like sometimes it will do this when an application/window wants to "tell me something", like that there's a new email (sometimes even when the "envelope" that indicates new mail isn't in sight), but sometimes it just seems to stay up for no reason, and I have to close all the windows one by one to get rid of it. Is there any way to get the Taskbar to Stay Hidden unless I'm mousing over it?
I just noticed earlier that whenever my browser is open I can't access my task bar. I keep the tb hidden, but I've never had this problem in the past. I'm not in full screen mode so I'm at a loss. I'm using Chrome if it matters.
Lately at seemingly random times, all of the toolbars except for the language bar are missing when I startup Windows. The only way for me to get them back is to re-activate them again through the menu.
Why does this happen and how can I keep them from being unselected from the taskbar?
In Windows XP when you right click the task bar and add a shortcuts toolbar, you are free to have the new toolbar on any edge of the screen away from the taskbar. In Windows 7, I seem to have that shortcut bar stuck on the taskbar. How can I move the shortcut bar to the top of the screen and keep the taskbar at the bottom of the screen
why part of the first icon on my custom toolbars displays when I lock the taskbar (see pic - I've highlighted the partial icons in red). I've tried sqeezing them as close together before I lock the taskbar, but that's doesn't solve the problem.
This problem has been constant recently, and it only seems to happen when I go AFK for a period of time (maybe when my screensaver comes up).And my toolbar/taskbar completely disappears and is basically not there. If I right click in that area it's like I'm clicking on my desktop. But my start button is still there. To bring it back I usually have to log off, but it's annoying. Here's a screenshot.
When i pass over the icon of firefox on my toolbar at the bottom of the screen( unsure of its real name but the bar with the time and start icon) each and every tab shows up separately. just today i repartitioned my hardrive, and before the reinstall it only showed whatever windows were open, no matter how many tabs were in each.If there is any way i can return it to the old state that would be fantastical, i find it much easier to keep track of my browser and the windows i have open
i was install bitdefender total security 2013 and my problem is why toolbar does not show in my ie,google chrome and mozilla...i was setting it on....and i search it carefully above browser but does not seen it....
I'm using Windows 7 x64. I have placed the taskbar on top. I've noticed many applications will open at the top with the titlebar underneath the taskbar. This is extremely annoying and incredibly dumbfounding how Microsoft released Windows with this bug.
My Desktop toolbar (right click on taskbar->check desktop) suddenly become 7" wide and I do not know how to shrink it back to a more convenient width. I'm trying to find out if there is a keyboard shortcut to move focus to the Address toolbar when it is added to the taskbar. (Again, this is the address bar in the taskbar, not the address bar in an explorer or browser window for which ALT+D is the shortcut.) I've searched Microsoft's list of Keyboard shortcuts, but did not find any information. And my Google searches have not found anything.
I define the toolbars in my taskbar to point to quicklaunch & My Computer, but whenever I restart/shutdown the definitions vanish and I need to redefine which is really annoying.
I downloaded Windows Manager which was recommended here for saving of positions, sizes , etc of folders. It's a great software but I can't seem to use it to save these toolbar definitions, maybe I can and I just don't know how?
I discovered the following entry in my taskbar toolbars: url...As you can see the blank entry does not appear when i right click on taskbar and select toolbars (taskbar1.png). However when i right click on taskbar and then click on properties, the last tab (toolbars) displays an unknown entry (not seen before) with blank title (taskbar2blank.png).I noticed that the same happens even when the system boots in safe mode.A google search didn't help much. I am very familiar with registry editing, but am unable to find the key where these toolbars are added. I also tried running hijackthis but it is very difficult to find something with no name.
I would like to have the Live Messenger and Skype icons into the 'Hidden icons' box (Windows 7), so I don't have them displayed all the time in the task bar.If I use the "Customize" -> "Select which icons and notifications appear on the taskbar" option, there are many programas which I can configure, but I can't find Live Messenger and Skype there to be added.
My folders on my hard drive are hidden (the only way I can view them is through Folder and Search Options in Organise). I can not unhide. See this picture for details (it shows ONE of my folders in my Hard Drive that is hidden): Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting. How do I unhide these folders?
