View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm running 64-bit Windows 7. Last night my computer was fine, and I just booted up today to find that whenever I run programs, they don't show up on the taskbar. I have two monitors, one is my laptops screen and the other an external one. If I drag the applications to my laptop screen, they show up on the external screen, but if they are on the external screen, they don't show up at all.
The external is set to my main display.
Any ideas on what's going on?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to make only certain programs show their text in the Windows 7 taskbar? Under normal circumstances, I still want to use icon view, but some programs use their title bars to show information that I would like to see. Is there a registry tweak or anything to do this for those specific programs?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded a Packard Bell desktop to Windows 7. It was originally XP. When I installed 7, it didn't look the same as my laptop that had 7 pre-installed when bought. On the desktop, it doesn't show previews of windows on the taskbar when scrolled over etc. Can I make it the same as the laptop?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI logged onto my computer this morning and instead of getting the normal taskbar and being able to do what I want, my Libraries folder popped up and I got no taskbar. I can't use any keys or shortcuts on my keyboard. Only the mouse and open programs through the folder window. There was no error message in the booting process and it was fine last night.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI added my user folder as a toolbar to the taskbar for quick access to its subfolders and files. I had set some of rarely-used system folders in my user folder (such as "Desktop," "Searches" etc.) as hidden, and selected "Do not show hidden folders, etc." in Folder Options. These hidden folders are not shown in Windows explorer's window, but they show up on the taskbar's toolbar. Is there a way to keep them hidden on the taskbar as well?

View 2 Replies View RelatedOk i have windows 7, Recently i have found out that i have a full list of errors that happened pretty much overnight:Here's the list 1. I can't go onto Control Panel It say's " This operation has been canceled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator" I AM THE ADMIN.. I am the only account too. 2. My Task bar is missing, When i go ctrl-alt-del i see no option to open up my task bar. [FIXED] 3. I cant RIGHT click on anything on my desktop, as well as my folders and stuff. Although i can right click while playing games or browsing the internet, so my mouse is definitely not broken. So u must be thinking, this guy has a virus for sure... Well if i do have a virus it must be made by ******* Bill Gates. Because i can't find it.I have the FULL version of Trend Micro Cillin as well as Norton 360, I've just recently downloaded Malvare Bytes, and that couldn't find anything as well. I've done a full system scam on both anti-virus programs, i see no viruses. I did get a virus a week ago, but Norton quickly picked it up, I'm thinking it may have changed a few settings in my computer before i managed to delete it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSo about a month ago I restarted my computer and when it came back on all my programs pinned to my task bar and everything that was in my start menu was gone. From there I could not unlock the taskbar and nothing would pin in either the start menu or taskbar. I researched everywhere about it. I tried unlocking the taskbar in properties and registry with no luck. I finally found some posts about how my user profile was corrupt and from there I went on and made a new profile and copied everything and BOOM it all worked fine now. Well today it happened AGAIN! I restarted my computer and everything disappeared. So I think it is still a corrupt profile, but this is the second time it has happened.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a client that has laptop with windows 7 Pro. He had a faulty network card, so I have added a new, usb network card. That said, He can not pin anything to taskbar or start menu. I cleared both folders of shortcuts(567 of them) but to no avail. He also has no options under his desktop Context menu for New. He is also using a roaming profile, of which I will disable next time I am there. I have a feeling that might be the issue. I did scour the internet trying all the usual suggestions, but do vaguely remember something about an entry in cache somewhere that if it is too big or corrupt, it could cause this behavior. I am unable to find that post anywhere now.I mention the network card because one post had taskbar issues until he disabled his faulty network card. I have disabled the faulty network card.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Gateway computer yesterday with Windows 7 preinstalled on it, and last night I tried to wake it from sleep but when I did, it didn't show the taskbar, icons or start button. All I could see was the background. I tried the "ctrl+shift+esc" method to fix it, but when I hit those keys nothing happened. I'm at a loss, and I don't want to return the computer!
View 3 Replies View Relatedmy Acer Aspire running Win 7 has stopped showing the audio icon on the Taskbar. Some websites have very annoying music or 'announcements' so I like to switch the sound off - now I can't without going via Control Panel.I have looked in Control panel and found System Icons - and the Sound label is shown as OFF. But the little arrow next to it to change the state is greyed out so I can't turn it back on.I tried the 'show all icons' under Notification Area Icons but the audio still doesn't show.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled a Windows 7 OS, and now the volume icon has disappeared from the taskbar. The only way I can adjust the volume is to go into Control Panel. I found the "turn system icons on or off" window, and although the volume icon says "show icon and notifications," it's not on the taskbar, so I don't know what more to do.
View 6 Replies View RelatedLately at seemingly random times, all of the toolbars except for the language bar are missing when I startup Windows. The only way for me to get them back is to re-activate them again through the menu.
Why does this happen and how can I keep them from being unselected from the taskbar?
Just recently i have noticed that the battery icon is missing from my taskbar. I have already right clicked on the taskbar and went under 'notification area' and selected for it to always be displayed. I have also tried clicking on 'turn system settings on and off' but it says it is off and does not allow be to turn it on. It kind of looks like the icon is missing or there is no icon for the battery power. I have a Windows 7 laptop.
View 1 Replies View Relatedmy icon's have gone missing from the bottom right of the taskbar? there not under the arrow icon either.
Does anyone know how i can get them back?
Yesterday a user complained that there laptop had slowed down in recent days. I went ahead and ran msconfig the I deleted most of the programs that were running on startup. I also stopped some services. The PC speed improved but when the user restarted the laptop there were no icons or taskbar.
I pressed ctrl-alt-del and started task manager. I started explorer.exe and my computer showed up with the drives on the machine. I also ran sfc /scannow and it did give any errors, i created another profile and it has the same results. When I right click on the desktop nothing shows up. I booted into safe mode and there are no restore points to recover to.
I suspect the problem is registry related and was caused by me deleting the startup programs. I am not sure how I can restore the laptop without reinstalling it.
I had my new desktop with Windows 7 Home 64bit for about 2 weeks now and so far im loving it. The one and only problem im having is the volume icon in the taskbar.Sometimes when my Windows boots up, the volume icon is missing from the taskbar. I take a look in "turn system icons on or off" and the Volume, Network and Action Center are greyed out (cant click them.) It does this once every 2 or 3 reboots. The only way to fix it is to reboot. Its not a huge problem but its very annoying having to reboot 2 times.
