View 0 RepliesYesterday I made one folder hidden in my F:/ drive. Today I want to un-hide it. I went to "Folder and Search Options" >> View Tab and then "Show hidden files and folders". Then I applied and OK the changes. Still I don't see my hidden file. The F:/ drive shows that I have 7GB of data in it. But it shows a folder of 98MB only.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was using my desktop like normal then an error came up saying that there was a hdd failure, and that i needed to scan for errors. all my files disappeared and only this error would come up. There would be hundreds of the same msg spamed on my screen. I scaned my hdd for errors using my Bios/Advanced options and no errors came up. I decided to take out the hdd and put it into my External Hdd bay to hook up to my laptop to extract the data off it.When i hooked it up to my laptop it showed up empty. I went into folder options and clicked on show hidden files and folders. Everything came up but it was grey/transparent. I then copied the files to another hdd for backup.
Then i formatted the hdd and put on a fresh new OS. Id like to mention i have a second internal drive that i use for backups but it wasnt backed up recently when this issue happen so i had to take out the main drive and use it as an external to back up onto another external drive.so then when i click on my second internal drive after the reinstall of the new OS it shows empty i have to go in and show hidden files and folders.. now they show again transparent. also i plug in my external to get the recent back up and all those files are still transparent when i move them to my desktop that is freshly OS installed they are still grey/transparent and i have to keep the show hidden files and folders to view them.. so its all my music, pics, documents etc they are all greyed out..i tried to copy my backup IE favs into my new IE browser and they wont show up because they are hiden it shows it copied to the favs folder but in ie i cannot view them if that makes any sense.
I am trying to get my music off my ipod to my laptop win 7 home. 32 bit. When I goto folder options and select show hidden types. I hit apply and ok. but it wont show up and when I return to the menu it stays on hide hidden files.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI added my user folder as a toolbar to the taskbar for quick access to its subfolders and files. I had set some of rarely-used system folders in my user folder (such as "Desktop," "Searches" etc.) as hidden, and selected "Do not show hidden folders, etc." in Folder Options. These hidden folders are not shown in Windows explorer's window, but they show up on the taskbar's toolbar. Is there a way to keep them hidden on the taskbar as well?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have some files that I would like to hide from anyone that may use my computer. I already know how to hide folders/files in the 'folder and search options.' However, when I hide my files/folders and then search for one of the file names in the Start Menu search bar, the file will show up despite it be hidden and the 'Do not show hidden files' option is checked. I also attempted to put a password on the folder (one folder has all the files I want hidden) using this site for a guideline: How to create a Password Protected Folder in Windows 7hen I lock the folder, I can still search for the files in the Start Menu search bar and they will open without the password. Is there a better site or program to effectively lock my folder/files? And what can I do to prevent the Start Up search from looking for my hidden files.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI was trying to display Hidden Folders/files to access an appdata folder under C:Usersusernameappdata. (it's to fix an issue with the game Dead Space 2) Anyway, I opened My Computer, then C drive, then Users. In here, I right clicked on empty space and opened properties. I checked 'Hidden' and apply. Said it needed administrator rights, I accepted. Then most desktop items disappeared, most files from my documents disappeared and after reboot, The ATI catalyst control centre is popping up an error message saying 'failed to start'.I realised I chose to hide all the files within that folder instead of showing hidden files/folders..I went to folder options and chose Show Hidden file and I can see them again but they have that see through look to them. ATI catalyst still won't start on reboot. I tried system restore to yesterday but still exact same. When I go to User Properties on the C drive again, it shows the files as Read Only and Hidden is unchecked.
View 9 Replies View RelatedYesterday night I was in my friends house and he seriously needed help. Hope you genius people help him. All his folders, file and shortcuts show as LNK file in Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I tried scanning his PC with avast!, MalwareBytes, Hitman Pro 3.5 and SAS, but the result was the same. How did it come up? My friend was chatting with his uncle in Skype, he asked him to download 3 pictures, the pictures where names as LNK file, my friend opened the file and after that all his programs, files and shortcut was defaulted to (file name).LNK. He wasted $35 to renew his windows, and he doesn't wants to format either. So is there any way to revert to normal state rather than formatting or system restoring?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI backed up all of my data files over to a CD/ROM before restoring my Windows 7 PC due to a hard drive failure.
After successfully restoring the Windows 7 PC, I also restored my backed up files from the CD/ROM using HP RecoveryMgr, which was included as part of the backup process. Then I see all folders show "This folder is empty", even though the folder "Properties" show that the folder is not empty and contains files being backed up during the restore.
How can I make the files in the restored folders visible/accessible again?
The little popup box in the tray that comes up when you hit the up arrow (to "Show hidden icons") is bugging me. It seems to have a timer built in that hides it a couple seconds after you click on one of the icons inside. This really bugs me. I would prefer that it either hide itself immediately after I click on one of the icons (but not if I right click one, obviously) or else lets me hide it by clicking directly on it somewhere. I know I can hide it by clicking on the arrow again, but some of my tray applications (namely my Portable Apps Launcher) minimize again if I click that arrow, leaving me with no other option than to wait for that annoying box to hide itself and get out of the way.
View 3 Replies View Relatedyou know when you launch the open menu to upload or something and you select the desktop, it has all this crap at the top (Libraries Homegroup, user folder, eta) which you have disabled on the true desktop making uou have to scroll down to select the one thing that actually *IS* on the desktop?
how do you disable those folders so they don't show up?
Some of my important system files are no longer hidden and I can't hide them even with the Command Prompt "attrib" command. Files such as bootmgr and ntldr are shown and I can't hide them. Also, show Protected System files is unchecked and show hidden files is also unchecked so they shouldn't be showing. I tried to re-add their system file attribute but I keep getting an "Access Denied" error in CMD and I do not have user account control on and I'm on a Default Administrator Account.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI downloaded HP's Smart Web Printing software but the icon that is supposed to appear on the IE tool bar in order to start the program does not appear, so I cannot use the program. What does appear is an icon whose balloon says it can be used to make the start icon appear, but it doesn't have any effect. I'm using a Sony VAIO 64-bit Windows 7 laptop with Internet Explorer 8. The HP program sounds great and I have good use for it, but so far I haven't been able to find a clue at HP or Microsoft's support sites. I've tried reinstallation twice with the same result.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it at all possible to hide the Downloads, Links, Favorites, Searches, Videos, Saved Games, and Contacts folders (just the folder, not contents)? I've tried just hiding it like any other folder but it won't work.AND if possible, have explorer open in my home folder instead of libraries.
PS: I tried disabling libraries entirely, but it opens to My Documents instead of my home folder.
i use BitLord to download random stuff anyways the Downloads Folder Shows up like this : Now when i open Nero up it shows this Weird thing is if i hover over the folder from normal window it says the Downloads folder is only 800mb (as it is only showing me one item) yet from Nero it says the folder is over 9 Gigs.
