OK so on to my problem and question. I set my taskbar to be along the top of my monitor screen. It seems like ever since WinXP and probably before that, some windows that open creep under the taskbar. So when this happens, I have to move my taskbar in order to close the window. Yeah I know there's other ways to close this window without moving the taskbar, but another more elegant way to avoid this problem is make the taskbar solid so the window can't creep under the it

How do I stop this from happening?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI added my user folder as a toolbar to the taskbar for quick access to its subfolders and files. I had set some of rarely-used system folders in my user folder (such as "Desktop," "Searches" etc.) as hidden, and selected "Do not show hidden folders, etc." in Folder Options. These hidden folders are not shown in Windows explorer's window, but they show up on the taskbar's toolbar. Is there a way to keep them hidden on the taskbar as well?

I don't know why MS made it the way they did without giving an option to expand it if we wanted to.
I recently installed Win Seven onto another harddrive because
I wanted to keep my xp installation and be able to choose on boot
which os I want to use.
Since my installation of seven it boot straight into seven without
giving me the choise of OS.
I tried using EasyBCD but I cant select the drive letter which contains
my xp installation, why is that ?
Could somebody tell me how to use this program before I do something
stupid here ?
I am about to reformat my system and reinstall all programs and settings etc.. One question I have is around the registry tweak to add a "Take Ownership" icon to the right click contect menu.I generally install this tweak as it's extremely useful and saves messing around with calcs commands. It seems however that once this is done in Windows 7 RTM 64 it replaces the icon to run as administrator (which is also extremely useful). Is there a way to keep both icons/features in the context menu?
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a tweak possible to cause a program that doesn't have the ability built-in, to open multiple instances of itself to do so?I use Movie Collector for cataloging videos, and often when using it's scraper function, the options for a particular program's data download, is for each season of the program, which means that the program tree and thumbnail display fills rapidly, causing some orderly disorder.I prefer to integrate the seasons that I have of a series into a single listing, but to do that requires not only a lot of copy/pasting, but is hindered by the fact that one must go back and forth, opening and closing windows a lot. It would be much, much easier, if one could place two windows of the program side-by-side.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhile windows was uploading some updates yesterday, I cleaned my registry using Iolo's system mechanic tool and that's where the problems started. (I already read and understood your message: don't use those tools and stay out of your registry. A lesson I learned too late, unfortunately.)My computer rebooted and after a couple of minutes I noticed the message: " failure configuring windows features reverting changes ". I managed to bypass this loop by running in safe mode and recover my computer to a restore point in the past. This only worked partially: I get windows to run in normal mode but I get this message: "system failed while restoring the registry from the restore point. Restore point damaged or was deleted during restore". So it didn't restore but I can get into my windows now.So I don't get the 'reverting change loop' anymore, so I can access my computer but what's the mess? Well my computer is slow as hell.Like mentioned above, I already looked around on this forum and wrote down what I already tried. [code] My computer is terrible slow because of a registry defrag/optimization of a registry tool (in combination with windows update) --> I need to find a way to get back my old registry files but system recovery ain't working.
View 9 Replies View RelatedJust reinstalled Windows 7 64bit on my new Crucial m4 SSD. However..I have my taskbar set to never combine so that there's no icons.
My previous install of Windows 7, I found a registry hack where I can make the "Tabs" on the taskbar wider. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I found a million threads on how to make the icons bigger and the auto preview bigger.
What I'm looking for:
Example:I want my taskbar to show
|Windows 7 Forums - Post New Thread - Mozilla Firefox|
instead of
|Windows 7 Foru|
Everything is fine now. If I did something, not sure what worked exactly, but I won't argue Got a strange issue. I've been doing some fiddling recently with customizing Windows 7 (specifically, installing Rainmeter and trying to install custom themes). When I tried to install a theme, however, I ended up with font troubles. Apparently it wrote over some of the main fonts and, oddly enough, made the font show up transparent in some places. (a specific example is in a folder I created on the desktop) Is there a way to restore the fonts completely to default? I've tried restoring to defaults in font settings, but no-go. What do you guys think? I'm thinking I should give up custom themes for a bit until I can make a restore point (I like to dive into things like this. Keeps it challenging, you know ) EDIT: Forgot to mention that this is all on the 64 bit version!

View 7 Replies View RelatedI can almost always find answers I'm looking for via Google. So, as a last resort, I've actually signed up for a forum to ask a question that I haven't found an answer to yet. That question is: Is there a program that exists that will make windows (like Firefox, explorer, Pidgin, Outlook, ImgBurn, CCleaner, etc.) transparent (much like PowerMenu) but then when you hover the mouse over that window, it becomes opaque? Then once the mouse is moved off, the window goes back to being transparent?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit laptop. It started malfunctioning really badly, to the point where we pretty much lost a lot of programs and such. It was the work of a very impolite virus. When you bring your mouse over the file that has all our important stuff, it says "Folder is Empty" So I decided to transfer all via a USB port, to move them from my sister's Toshiba to mine. Everything moved like normal, we had to wait a few minutes because there was a lot of file transfer.
