somebody has ripped off the superbar for windows xp except that in xp it's fully transparent and i think it looks better. is there anything to make the ACTUAL superbar in seven fully transparent?
Can I make my taskbar of Windows 7 so that it is transparent and I can see my desktop into it? I found a program Chameleon Window Manager, is that good? How must I set it up then?
Is it possible to make Explorer's background transparent without the use of a third-party program, such as BGE? For instance, can this be done by editing a visual style using Windows Style Builder?
I'm just wondering if there is a way to make the desktop icons not show trough the transparent top border of an application? I like my wallpaper to show through it, but not my icons.
My 5 Windows 7 ultimate x64 pc will share their drive with each other completely.Without any restrictions (full read/write/modify access )I do not want any PC asking for User Id and password when the access the shared drive. What i know basically is i will be having same workgroup on each PC .I will turn on Network Discovery and enable file and printer sharing. Will turn off Password Protected Sharing radio button. Now doing this what i need is,1. what type of user accounts i need on my each pc? (every pc log in to with its own different user name and password)2. In advance sharing tab, just using EVERYONE will solve my problem?(along with NTFS permissions)
I was using a program called Hide Super Bar (can't even find it online anymore) to hide my superbar when I was using rainmeter as my desktop environment. But now that I want to go back to default, I cannot get get my superbar back. There was only one .exe in the HSB folder and I clicked that and nothing happened. Also nothing happened when I uninstalled the program. I have already turned auto-hide off.
With vista and previous OS's it was easy to just right-click a program on the taskbar and hit the letter "c" to close it. you could very rapidly close a series of windows from the taskbar.
now in Windows 7 x64 when i right click a program in the taskbar and hit 'c' it simply highlights the "close window" option... requiring me to either have to hit enter or click on the selected option "close window"
is it possible to have things work like they used to ?? such that a right-click and then the letter 'c' would close the window without any additional input ?
Firstly, I have setup the Windows 7 superbar to never group programs and they appear similar to the way they do in Windows XP. I am now trying to figure out a way to get the programs to not "stick" together (e.g. when I launch firefox, all of the firefox icons open up adjacent to one another, instead of at the end of the last application that was opened).
I know this is probably a rare request because everyone seems to love the way the Superbar currently works, but I figure it never hurts to ask.
Also, I would politely request that if you intend to contribute to this thread with a response that is akin to "just get used to the new superbar", than I ask you to kindly ignore this post and continue along with your life.
When I start up my computer, the superbar takes like 40 minutes to actually work. And like right now, I closed a window about 10 minutes ago but the icon is still in the bar. I can't open it up or anything, it's just there.
Since we started writing about it, we said that the new taskbar is one of the best features in Windows 7. It has some very interesting new features & improvements which definitely boost user productivity compared to older versions of Windows. Therefore it is only natural for us to continue our series of articles about it. In this article, I'll show how to further customize different aspects of the taskbar such as: its appearance, size, location and toolbars.
I'm trying to plug a USB camera into the back of my computer, but the computer won't acknowledge that I plugged it in. I don't get an error message or anything, it simply doesn't seem to notice anything. (I've tried it with a flash drive, too—same deal.)
I'm not missing drivers for the device itself, as I've plugged them both into other ports and they work fine. It seems that the port itself is the problem. I just reinstalled Windows yesterday after getting infected with a System Fix virus, so that may have something to do with it.
EDIT: It may have something to do with my BIOS, as I changed my boot order for the reinstall. I'm not aware of anything else being changed, but it's possible.
Earlier today I was pinning some shortcuts to the superbar (wordpad, My Computer, Godmode) and now, for some reason, when I open Firefox, Chrome, or Opera, the superbar won't combine the tabs together, so instead of hovering over the icon for the browser and getting the different tabs to pop up, only the open tab pops up above the icon. But it works fine for Internet Explorer, open windows folders, and wordpad/notepad. Those icons pop up the multiple open documents when hovering. But the browsers won't show multiple tabs when hovering.I checked the options for the superbar and it is set to "always combine, hide labels".
I recently installed 2 new disks, put windows (7) on it and kept the old hdd as a back up, and to just be able to get to my old files should it be necessary. However the question is this: Id love to just move all my games from my old disk to my new one, but I'd need the old registry values. Are they anywhere physically on the old disk? Obviously I can't acces them by regedit, so is there a way to import (parts) of it Or do I have to disconnect the new drives, boot on the old disk and copy what I need?
I was trying to uninstall a print driver for a network printer for one of my users (Windows 7), and I ran into that issue where it tells you that it can't remove the drivers because they are still in use (this after stopped and restarting the spooler, rebooting, etc.). So I was looking at the "File Repository" for this print driver (C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepositoryhpcu115u.inf_amd64_neutral_4a9d334b04ff58b2), and it has the same files as another folder that is pointed to under the "Driver" tab in the Print Server Properties dialogue (C:Windowssystem32spoolDRIVERSx643). My questions are the following:
1. What is the purpose of the File Repository folder as compared to the driver folder as listed above?
2. If I am unable to remove the print drivers through Print Management (using admin rights), should I manually delete the corresponding File Repository folder, should I delete the files in the corresponding folder as listed above (C:Windowssystem32spoolDRIVERSx643), neither, or both?
3. Why in the world does it give that message, even after having deleted that printer? Is it a matter of other users on that machine being mapped to that same network printer, or what?
I did check to make sure there are no other services started that use the printer driver.

i am new here to seven forums, not sure if this is the right thread i should be asking in, but never know till i try. Anyhow, I am playing a game called Aion, and my Ping in that game is around 70~100Ms.I use Verizon fios, 25/25 speed plan, a MI424WR Router, that was provided, and a wired connection.*Also i do not have any FPS Lag, i am getting 50-60 frames.*And i have leatrix latency fix installed, version 3.00
I am trying to modify the attributes of a file (in this case the album title for a group of MP3 files in 1 folder). All I want to do is change one character.W7 (home premium 32bit) blanks out the whole box, and I have to type the all of the text again.
I have recently upgraded to windows 7 pro on a nice new 1TB hard drive. I have removed the previously installed win xp drive, and that is now in an external caddy. I have been in the process of moving the files from the xp drive to the Windows 7 drive. I forgot to backup my IE8 bookmarks before the switch over, and have tried to find the actual bookmark links via windows explorer but can't find them. I have tried looking in dos and setting users favourites...but the bookmarks are not in there.
Quite spontaneously and for no apparent reason, I can no longer copy/paste a simple "add contents of 2 cells" to empty cells (e.g. e3+d4, to the next cells down the column, etc.). No matter what I do it will only copy the actual contents i.e. the result of the previous calculation. What I have tried:-
1. Deleting all contents and formats from the range of cells and starting over; 2. Using the drop-down menu of the paste button to select the "paste-special / formula" option (which keeps jumping back to the first default option at the top of the list); 3. Running the Office diagnostics built-in software off the microsoft top-left button to detect faults and anomalies - Nothing works and I am at a loss.......most peculiar...........
Everything is fine now. If I did something, not sure what worked exactly, but I won't argue Got a strange issue. I've been doing some fiddling recently with customizing Windows 7 (specifically, installing Rainmeter and trying to install custom themes). When I tried to install a theme, however, I ended up with font troubles. Apparently it wrote over some of the main fonts and, oddly enough, made the font show up transparent in some places. (a specific example is in a folder I created on the desktop) Is there a way to restore the fonts completely to default? I've tried restoring to defaults in font settings, but no-go. What do you guys think? I'm thinking I should give up custom themes for a bit until I can make a restore point (I like to dive into things like this. Keeps it challenging, you know ) EDIT: Forgot to mention that this is all on the 64 bit version!
I have recently purchased a Sony VAIO Laptop, running Windows 7 Premium. On my attached screenshot, you will notice parts of the pages are transparent, I can see my desktop and other images which are underneath. Is this normal on Windows 7 or should I return it to the store from which I purchased it?
I can almost always find answers I'm looking for via Google. So, as a last resort, I've actually signed up for a forum to ask a question that I haven't found an answer to yet. That question is: Is there a program that exists that will make windows (like Firefox, explorer, Pidgin, Outlook, ImgBurn, CCleaner, etc.) transparent (much like PowerMenu) but then when you hover the mouse over that window, it becomes opaque? Then once the mouse is moved off, the window goes back to being transparent?
After I restarted my computer today my taskbar changed from being see-through to a horrible sky blue colour. I have done my research and outcomes that have made other peoples taskbar transparent have not worked for me, such as changing the theme of your computer to one of the Aero ones. Still my Taskbar reamins light blue. instead of the window with the color intensity and what not.
I have a Toshiba Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit laptop. It started malfunctioning really badly, to the point where we pretty much lost a lot of programs and such. It was the work of a very impolite virus. When you bring your mouse over the file that has all our important stuff, it says "Folder is Empty" So I decided to transfer all via a USB port, to move them from my sister's Toshiba to mine. Everything moved like normal, we had to wait a few minutes because there was a lot of file transfer.
Maybe this has something to do with the last round of updates. There are now transparent gray x's on the corners of the documents on my desktoop. They are on both .docx and Wordpad documents. I opened one of the documemts and it opened find but I cannot understand the purpose of these odd gray x's.
I've got a scan lines (horizontal) going up as if It's scanning a paper!?This only occurs when playing (all) games without VSYNC. Leaving VSYNC on solves the problem but I'm more used to play on higher framerate. Movements feel very slow when leaving it on (especially on FPS games). I've taken screenshots but it's not visible. Also there's something fishy going on:
Additional info:
-my graphics card is not overlocked
-Not overheating when leaving vsync off (remains below 60C)
-I'm using the official MSI drivers for my MSI GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr OC edition (ForceWare 280.26)
-Using VGA cable with a DVI adapter for my graphics card
Here's the exact problem I've found on the internet: Getting Scan Lines in High End Gaming on GTX 560
i am wondering if i can replace explorer. exe into transparent theme. i have tried everything, customizing msstyle, downloading windows 8 7282 build pack and downloaded it spending 8 hours and what i only found is full glass theme which was very bad quality and i did not like it because it uses wierd scroll bars and has a too high contrast and also the start menu looks s**t because of the blue writing and fully transparent without the blur. i also had to do a system restore because of the explorer. exe did not work.
