Setup Could Not Find A File Or Specified Path Or Disc
Dec 26, 2011
So I bought this like a year ago and only had the basic Medieval installed (Without kingdoms) I got into it again and wanted to play it with kingdoms so I deleted Medieval and tried reinstalling it again. Im not good with computers at all but I have Windows 7 and I played it on this computer before and I have a good computer so I know it's compatible.I put the Cd in and click the green launch Icon and the main menu comes up. I click install then it comes up with the four total wars and I check all of them and click next, and then when I get to the next page it asks me to put in disc 2 and select where I would like to install it. I put in the Cd and then pick where to install it (Default is the CD it is being installed from) I have tried my C drive and my external drive but neither works. A error message pops up and says Setup could not find a file or the specified path or disc. Please check that the proper disk is insert or specify new path.
I have downloaded the realplayer setup; but when I try to run the setup, it works; but when it's almost done it tells me that it could not find a file called real cleaner.
I installed Win 7 and if i try to open my computer of click on desktop and open up screen resolution etc. I get "Explorer.exe -Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." I did a search but could not find anything related to this error in Win 7. I have found some others attached to Win XP but have to do with the installation of some software which prevents access to explorer.exe. When I boot in safe mode this issue does not appear...
How can I find out which of my files path names were too long?I'm backing up my files from one external drive to another (just dragged a giant folder over and waited over a day for it to paste the entire thing), now I come to read "The file name(s) would be too long for the destination folder. You can shorten the file name and try again, or try a location with a shorter path." The destination folder saimply reads "CD2", which could literally be anything. What's the entire path?I've got Windows 7.So I'd gladly shorten whatever path(s) and try again, but how do I read entire path of which files were too long to be in which destination folder?Don't know what to do, the window is still popped up that has the option of either "Skip" or "cancel" along which a check box at the bottom that reads "do this for all current items (11 found)", I haven't clicked anything yet.
how do find the bootpath for windows 7 which was my old OS from recently installed windows XP OS.Since i have installed XP i could boot into my windows 7. It only boots in XP where do i find the boot path so that to add it in startup and recovery in XP
after i reinstall windows 7 ultimate i try to install Internet music downloader and it says: the system cannot find path specified, i try to run as administrator but it doesn't works. i open troubleshoot compatibility and it says: incompatible application. i am using 64 bit windows 7 and i get this error on every program i want to install.
I'd like to use Teracopy for all copying etc. But after moving to 7 from xp it's giving me these errors. I have Win 7 Pro 64-bit. I copy from network drive for which I have read and write permissions as windows' own copy works fine. But with teracopy I immediately get error "Open error: The system cannot find the path specified". I'm trying to copy, not move, a folder with several subfolders from a network drive into local C:. I have administrator privileges. It seems that Teracopy somehow doesn't have even read permission for the network drive. Taking ownership of the network drive (samba share) is not possible.
A coworker emailed me the following forms, one is .XML, one is .XSN However the notepad opened version of the header of the .XML form seems to indicate that the form is trying to connect to our corporate server.I wish to be able to use this on a stand-alone laptop. See cut and pasted header below
What is the correct path / etc code (to be used instead of the top header) to enable this form to "look for" the FORM123.XSN on my stand alone laptop. The form is physically in C/My Documents drive
win 7 home premium on HP pavilion, i do a start ---> search programs and files and it gives me the resultant file but without its path. sometimes thats a fat lot of use! (i've lost the right-click function so cant do quick lookup for properties) what do i have to do to make the search results display the full path of the file? also, if the result shows more than one file and i click on one of them, the result window vanishes so i have to start the search again to find the next file. how do i make the search window stay put until i tell it to go away?
I can't play games, and I can't enter my documents, conrol panel, computer and much more! It says:" Explorer.EXE (Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. It must be Explorer.EXE's fault". And when I try to click on "Control Panel" It happens the same, just not from Explorer.EXE... ::{26EE0668-A00A-44D7-9371-BEB064C98683} (Dunno if it's 0 or the letter O xD).
I've been running windows 7 trouble free for aprox 1 year. I attempted to turn my PC on last night and got as far as black screen with cursor spinning, windows would not load. I booted into safe mode and ran superantispyware, malwarebytes, kaspersky....all came back finding nothing. From safe mode (or any mode) I can not acccess control panel, computer, etc; when I attempt to access I get the folllowing error msg, "windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them." This happens when I log in as admin also.
I have looked for an answer online but most of either does not work or is very complicated for your average man.Windows 98 was the best operating system, everyone knows thatWindows 7 has been treating me fine until recently.Over the last week, 4 or 5 different programs that I have been using , wont load. They come up with the error message in the subject of this post. And it says i may not have permission to view the files? These are programs i downloaded such as skype, vlc media player, google talk, audacity, utorrent. Things like that. Only 1 did it at first, now 5.Really annoying and I cant see a reason for it. So I usually will have to download the program again, but I cant keep doing that and it doesnt always work anyway. One idea i had , i thought it might be a problem to do with AVG virus killer thing.I have AVG free virus killer thing but it keeps crashing. It says many files are unhealable cos theyre unabale to locate the file. and also it indicates that there is a problem with one of the AVG files. Sometimes avg wont respond . (it says not responding)Does anyone have an idea of what I should look into ? I never had a problem with windows 98 until they started making stuff that only runs on later versions. I used to play worms on windows 98 for 8 hours a day.
my issue is though all my files, documents, start menu & icons are where they should be if i try to access them it gives me the message"Windows cannot acces the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access them."There is only my profile on the install of windows and I am the administrator, i've tried from the start menu - run - CMD with admin privileges and it gives me the same message. I've tried to Take ownership but that option isn't available in the drop down menu - it doesn't restrict me accessing any file or folder just the running of any file.In safe mode i've ran AV & AS programs including - Spybot S&D, Superantispyware, Avast, Malwarebytes AM & Microsoft security essentials - and none of them have found anything except a few cookies the first time through which it removed and changed nothing, as you would expect. I am also running Online Armour as my firewall but had turned off the program guard to install couple of programs, but not the webshield. As i mentioned above in Safe Mode i can run most programs no problem including the AV's. I also run Msconfig in safe mode to see if i could see a service or startup program i don't recognise as i've experimented with alot of them when i was running XP and there doesn't appear to be something that looks out of place.
I downloaded Abode Masters Collection CS6 and it worked great until I restarted my computer. When I went to access the folder it showed "empty". The files are still in my Programs, but i can't access the shortcut and the icon looks corrupted(which is the only way I can describe it since I don't know exactly what it's called). Then it gives me the "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, file. Lack of permission" error. I tried disabling my anti-virus/firewall, didn't work. I've googled it and nothi
I received this error when trying to install application from USB, External Disk, and CD/DVD. "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the item." I am part of Administrator group and even local Administrator can't install and received the same error. I tried disabling my anti-virus Symantec and still receiving the error. However, if i copy the application installer to my desktop or local disk, it would run perfectly. what is blocking the installation from USB, External Disk, and CD/DVD?
I have just installed a fresh copy of windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. After configuration is done, i am not able to access any folder or any programs not even control panel at all, its giving me the message "Windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have appropriate permissions".
In the attempt to run the setup of a program I get this:indows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permission to access the itemI am the administrator.Usually, by right clicking the mouse, and selecting run as administrator, this does the job. Did not work this time.
When i was turning off my computer last night, windows performed a system update. I was too sleepy so i turned off the power right away without getting the system update done. Today when i logged on to my computer, my desktop background turned black, i cannot open up any file, even My Computer and control panel. This, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item" pops out every time i try opening a file. [url]...
When I try to use the search function on my computer an error message comes up that says "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item".
Everything was ok, then I tryed to open a TXT file, and I had this error : "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file, you may not have the appropriate permissions to access them."
Then I tryed another TXT file : same Then I tryed to launch firefox : same
I had to reboot, and now everything is fine again, but im really wondering why it happened, and if it will hapen again Its a laptop i bought few days ago, and I only installed avast, zonealarm, and made windows updates : it should be clean I only have one account on this computer
When I to open windows explorer I keep getting the following message: explorer.exe windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. you may not have the appropiate permissions.. I can't open the control panel and restarting didn't help one bit. I didn't have this problem until the latest windows update and I'm logged in as the administrator. I'm running on Windows 7 Home Premium x32.
I'm trying to run a DOS program (Locoscript 2.51) in XP mode on a Windows 7 Ultimate virtual PC. This doesn't run - with a message 'error writing file(xxxx) path not found'.Program works perfectly in native XP (on a different machine) and the file is in the same place on both.
Whenever I try to open my computer, the control panel or anything at all I get this message:Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.in the title it says: Explorer.EXE This happened after a clean installation of windows. I tried re-installing it again and it still happens.I booted in safe mode and I checked the permissions for explorer.exe and only administrator has full control and all other users have almost no control and I can't change permissions. I don't have any other firewalls or anti-virus programs, only what came with the original windows 7 ultimate installation.
I deleted it and put in C:Program FilesJavajdk1.7.0_10in; I have been having problems. I have a Windows 7 64-bit machine, and need to replace the file path.
I have two laptops - a new one with Win 7 HP 32bit and an old one with Win 7 HP 64 bit
The new one with Win 7 HP 32bit came with 4gb of ram which is a bit silly since 32bit Win 7 HP can only use 3gb of that, but from what I understand, the serial on the underside can also be used to activate the 64bit version, which would recognise all the ram
Now, even though I've paid for two Win 7 HP licenses, I don't actually have a Win 7 disc, only the factory reset discs (which I had to burn myself when I first turned on the computer - which is pretty shocking really!!!)
But I digress. Is there any way Win 7 HP 64bit on my new laptop WITHOUT paying for it (again) I know XP let you make custom (slipstreamed) XP discs from installations but I can't find a way to do it in Win 7
As mentioned above, I can not get windows explorer to show the full file path even when I click in the empty space. I have looked everywhere for how to fix this. It also does not copy the full file path when you ask it to do so. I don't want to go to classic. My hard drive died in my laptop. I replaced it with a new ssd. I was unable to get my copy of windows. This is a fresh install
i just discovered "action(s)" and i would like to know if there is a way to set it up to execute a command line task such as: csp -i <file name> -o <output bmp)can i set up action(s) to ask for the input file name and the output bmp path and the execute the entire task?
I have a home premium (custom built) i didn't build, i also want to format hard drive. When i put disc in, it doesn't load the windows 7 ultimate install setup, why?
