after i reinstall windows 7 ultimate i try to install Internet music downloader and it says: the system cannot find path specified, i try to run as administrator but it doesn't works. i open troubleshoot compatibility and it says: incompatible application. i am using 64 bit windows 7 and i get this error on every program i want to install.

I'd like to use Teracopy for all copying etc. But after moving to 7 from xp it's giving me these errors. I have Win 7 Pro 64-bit. I copy from network drive for which I have read and write permissions as windows' own copy works fine. But with teracopy I immediately get error "Open error: The system cannot find the path specified". I'm trying to copy, not move, a folder with several subfolders from a network drive into local C:. I have administrator privileges. It seems that Teracopy somehow doesn't have even read permission for the network drive. Taking ownership of the network drive (samba share) is not possible.

On my system I have an SSD, so I have (Windows Restore) turned off. When I download a program and try to install it, it says creating a Restore Point and sits there for a while. A long while. I have found that I can go into Safe Mode and install things with no problem, fast. Even after it is satisfied with the restore point and says it is installing, it will just sit there and drag on. What can I do to get things to install without Safe Mode?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI did a clean install of windows 7 pro using sysprep to move my user files and program data to other drives. This works well as I only have a 120gb SSD running Windows 7 and a partition for Win 8 Pro that I haven't installed yet.
I changed the default installation path from c: to s: in both the 32/64 bit registry and now some of the programs (photoviewer, media player, defender) won't run. I've fixed the programs that I could, pointing those back to c: as I did not move any of the programs that comes with windows.
How can I find out which of my files path names were too long?I'm backing up my files from one external drive to another (just dragged a giant folder over and waited over a day for it to paste the entire thing), now I come to read "The file name(s) would be too long for the destination folder. You can shorten the file name and try again, or try a location with a shorter path." The destination folder saimply reads "CD2", which could literally be anything. What's the entire path?I've got Windows 7.So I'd gladly shorten whatever path(s) and try again, but how do I read entire path of which files were too long to be in which destination folder?Don't know what to do, the window is still popped up that has the option of either "Skip" or "cancel" along which a check box at the bottom that reads "do this for all current items (11 found)", I haven't clicked anything yet.

Im not good with computers at all but I have Windows 7 and I played it on this computer before and I have a good computer so I know it's compatible.I put the Cd in and click the green launch Icon and the main menu comes up. I click install then it comes up with the four total wars and I check all of them and click next, and then when I get to the next page it asks me to put in disc 2 and select where I would like to install it. I put in the Cd and then pick where to install it (Default is the CD it is being installed from) I have tried my C drive and my external drive but neither works. A error message pops up and says Setup could not find a file or the specified path or disc. Please check that the proper disk is insert or specify new path.

I did a full computer backup...the one that creates a .vhd file and such...well I can't figure out a way to get all my old programs and such back b/c it seems 7 RC needs the backup to be saved on the old OS using "Easy Transfer" in order to access the files through the new OS.
I have a full backup on my external, but the restore function in 7 RC doesn't recognize it. Is there an easy way to restore it? Can i use the windows.old files? If so, how do I install the programs from progfiles? Some are missing the setup applications it seems.

I have purchased a D-Link 1040 wireless print server and have connected it to my printer using a USB connection. I have installed the software. I turned the power on and pressed the little button on the side of the print server to enter search mode. What strange, in the safe mode all works well. I tried 'last known config' - didn't work. I tried system restore - same thing. I tried to repair system with the 'repair tool' from the cd - didn't recognize any problems.
My question - is it possible to re-place system files, or do un upgrade win 7 to win 7 but keeping all my programs installed? I really do not want to reinstall them, it would last 3 days.
In old xp, there was an option to hit 'r' on the second question while installing from cd, and we could have everything still installed, but system files replaced.
