I have downloaded the realplayer setup; but when I try to run the setup, it works; but when it's almost done it tells me that it could not find a file called real cleaner.

So I bought this like a year ago and only had the basic Medieval installed (Without kingdoms) I got into it again and wanted to play it with kingdoms so I deleted Medieval and tried reinstalling it again. Im not good with computers at all but I have Windows 7 and I played it on this computer before and I have a good computer so I know it's compatible.I put the Cd in and click the green launch Icon and the main menu comes up. I click install then it comes up with the four total wars and I check all of them and click next, and then when I get to the next page it asks me to put in disc 2 and select where I would like to install it. I put in the Cd and then pick where to install it (Default is the CD it is being installed from) I have tried my C drive and my external drive but neither works. A error message pops up and says Setup could not find a file or the specified path or disc. Please check that the proper disk is insert or specify new path.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been doing a lot of research on this and I know this topic has been covered a million times, so please bear with me. I'm specifically wondering about the "file-optimization" features in third party defraggers such as Diskeeper or Iobit Smart Defrag (which I use). I know that Microsoft has refined their own defragger, but it seems to me that it has no obvious file optimization and it of course does not have real-time defragging. I've been using Iobit Smart Defrag for a long time and it seems to do a good job of keeping my computer in shape. But, if the Windows 7 defrag works good enough, I'd prefer to just use that and get rid of Smart Defrag to free up CPU and RAM. I'd obviously lose out on the real-time scanning, file optimization, and the boot time scan that Iobit just added to their latest release. But, are these features really necessary for fast, clean performance of Windows 7? Or are these just gimics from third party companies to get me to purchase their software.

I cannot install some programs that have to beusing setup.exe (if I use msi installer - it's OK, but some programs like Adobe Photoshop Elements must be installed using setup.exe). When I click on setup.exe, I'm instantly getting a message that this file cannot be found.
This is not a problem with the particular program, but with many. Also, couple months ago I didn't have these problems with the same programs. I've tried Microsoft FixIt - didn't help. I don't know when this happened, but at least two months ago, so I cannot even use the restore point.
I'd also ran SFC /scannow, it fixed some problems, but not this one. Are there any ways to fix this besided re-installing Windows?
Can I sort the recycle bin on file extensions so I can easily find a file?

The compatibility check states that my computer is capable of running Windows 7(32) I am curious if there is anything I could do to get the installation to detect my harddrive.
My computer specs are:
Nvidia GTS 450
Intel Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz
4.00gb Ram
Dell XPS720
PLDS DVD+RW DH-16A6S SCSI CdRom (driver up to date)
I attempted to format my C: as well, as per a friends suggestion, and was unable to do so recieving an error message stating "system partition is not allowed to be formatted" . I do not recall partitioning my system.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter 8 long years I've finally upgraded my wheezy old pc, and now am drooling to play with this beastly new machine I've just assembled. My system specs should be in my sig below.But after 12 long hours of trying to install windows 7 pro, I'm more kinds of frustrated than there are words for.As in the topic title, I'm up against the "setup cannot find or create a system partition" error. My machine has a single 2 TB Hitachi Sata 3 hard drive, so there is no raid to muck things up, which seems to have been the primary cause of everyone elses troubles with this error. Using my old rig, I partitioned the new drive and transferred all the data from the old drives, leaving the first 75 GB partition empty and waiting for windows 7.
Then "the troubles" began. Research ensued.First thing I tried was to load updated sata 3 drivers from the mobo install disk. No help.Then I tried downloading the latest drivers from Asus and loading them from a flash drive during installation. No dice.Then I tried changing bios settings from Sata to IDE. No dice.Tried all of the above again with minor tweaks. Using the setup tools, I deleted that first partition and tried to make it again but setup gives me the title error.Well, of course I need that partition back so after some more research, I downloaded gparted, booted it up, but the video output is messed up and impossible to read.Then I slept for 6 hours. I woke up, tenacious and desperate, and figured I'd try diskpart (well above my paygrade) to make the first partition active and/or primary. Diskpart won't allow it? I disassembled my new system, plonked the old system back into the case, booted up into winxp off the old hard drive and with Easus partition manager and tried the same thing as with diskpart, but with the same results. No dice.Then, clearly somewhat crazy at this point, I put the new machine back in the case and tried ALL OF THE ABOVE AGAIN. No dice.Upon boot, POST sees the hard drive, but its not detected in bios. I don't know whether this is a hard drive problem, a mobo problem, a configuration problem, or completely normal for my gear. In any case, windows setup lists all the partitions.
Realplayer will not download in win 7. I tried setting realplayer to run as administrator. I'm unable to download the plugins in firefox, so I'm trying this in chrome. Nothing.

Here's the problem: To get the volume slider on the keyboard to work, I need to install Launch Manager. I found the download on the website and extracted it. When I run setup.exe though, absolutely nothing happens. It doesn't even show up for a split second in task manager.
I tried the same file on another computer and it ran just fine. I installed .Net framework as well as the C++ Runtime Distributable. No change. I've tried to run in compatibility as well as an administrator. I also tried Dependency Walker, it had this to say:
I tried downloading the new IE, no change, even tried DLing the DLL and putting it in the folder and that had no change either.
Recently I've been getting a "windows cannot find the specified file, please make sure that you have typed the name correctly and please try again." error message every time I try an open any file named setup.exe or uninst.exe. I have scanned this PC with AVG, Avast, Malware Bites and IObit to no avail. I believe the problem first surfaced when un-installing AVG and the Tune Up Utilities program and then installing Avast.

Normally under 'Control Panel' - 'Default Programs' - 'Set associations' you can browse for program and when selected you can make it the default program for the particular extension. I simply can not select the MS Publisher executable for association - it is just ignored. I suspect this may be a registry issue but am not sure where and how to fix it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of my drives in raid0 crashed and fortunately I had windows 7 x64 backup activated and running daily. After recreating the array with the remaining drives, I tried to restore from the external usb drive but it didn't work. Apparently the problem is that I had been running "file backup" and not "image backup". Probably because when I configured backup for the first time, it asked to back up all my drives which was not possible and not needed so didn't check the image backup button.
Now the backup set is visible only from within windows (I set Windows 7 again up) but NOT from the restore part of Windows 7 setup / recovery disk. Files inside the backup set are not .vhd but zipfiles. All my c: drive files actually ARE inside the backup set, but running restore will restore all the crap folders (like c: vidia) except from the system folders like c:windows, c:program files (and x86), c:programdata etc.
Any way to restore these? I am thinking of the possibility of somehow restoring all the files and running windows repair on top of this to actually make c:drive bootable again. My users folder is not affected as I had moved it to d: but this presents the additional challenge of being able to actually make the system see the users folder....
Is a registry cleaner necessary? On almost all of them I've used, it detects tens or hundreds of "problems" that need to be fixed, on freshly installed systems too. And after fixing them, if I run another scan, it finds even more! Does it make my system "faster" in any noticeable way? It seems to cause more problems than it fixes.
