Recently I've been getting a "windows cannot find the specified file, please make sure that you have typed the name correctly and please try again." error message every time I try an open any file named setup.exe or uninst.exe. I have scanned this PC with AVG, Avast, Malware Bites and IObit to no avail. I believe the problem first surfaced when un-installing AVG and the Tune Up Utilities program and then installing Avast.

I've got a Microsoft Access 2003 database that all of the computers share that is hosted on one of the XP machines. The Windows 7 machine can access the Access database through the network just fine, as long as no one else is accessing it. However, if someone else on an XP machine on the network is using the file, it won't open on the Windows 7 machine. Doubling clicking the file on Windows 7 gives me the circling blue icon for a second or two, then nothing happens. If the XP user exits the database, then I can open it fine.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen win 7 open up, what I see on my single display is a desktop screen of a tipical secondary display that would be placed on the right of the main screen.
I go into desktop properties and I see that win7 detect and show 2 screens as if I had a dual screen setup. But I only have one 24" screen. I always need to ask win7 to "detect" the screens again, then it automaticly delete the second "non-existent" screen.

I had an unusual happening on my PC. First noticed some instability while trying to open a file from Explorer, could not scroll down to file and it was jittery. Then, every time I tried to enter on an input line, an endless string of zeros were input and I could not overide or erase. Even on Email addressees. I tried a reboot and the zeros appeared on the start up password line and I could not logon. Same thing after complete power cycle. I suspected a stuck key on the keyboard and tried a different keyboard but no help. So I tried a complete restore. At first, it seemed to have the same problem, but somehow, eventually, I got logged on and now everything seems OK. But I don't really know what caused this and fear it could happen again.
View 2 Replies View Relatedif i go to the start button to go to my computer the window will open on the first try , but say i try to go to my computer again it will just sit there and not open. the exployer window will open but not the contents inside.does not care how many times i try it will only open the window and show nothing inside , a bar will go across the top to show progress but still it will not open.if i restart the computer i can open up the my computer or just computer in W7.like right now i tried to open up the window to check my hard drive and im still waiting for it to open.this goes on on both of my computers running windows 7.all coms are updated to the fullest and im not overclocking or doing anything other normal stuff.So is there a bug or somthing that im missing , once again if i go to start , and hit computer the window will open on the first try , but if i do it to many times it will just open a window and just sit there.even further if i open it up and try to open a file it will just hang there and not open , there is no error warning or nothing.

Here's the problem: To get the volume slider on the keyboard to work, I need to install Launch Manager. I found the download on the website and extracted it. When I run setup.exe though, absolutely nothing happens. It doesn't even show up for a split second in task manager.
I tried the same file on another computer and it ran just fine. I installed .Net framework as well as the C++ Runtime Distributable. No change. I've tried to run in compatibility as well as an administrator. I also tried Dependency Walker, it had this to say:

Normally under 'Control Panel' - 'Default Programs' - 'Set associations' you can browse for program and when selected you can make it the default program for the particular extension. I simply can not select the MS Publisher executable for association - it is just ignored. I suspect this may be a registry issue but am not sure where and how to fix it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I bought this like a year ago and only had the basic Medieval installed (Without kingdoms) I got into it again and wanted to play it with kingdoms so I deleted Medieval and tried reinstalling it again. Im not good with computers at all but I have Windows 7 and I played it on this computer before and I have a good computer so I know it's compatible.I put the Cd in and click the green launch Icon and the main menu comes up. I click install then it comes up with the four total wars and I check all of them and click next, and then when I get to the next page it asks me to put in disc 2 and select where I would like to install it. I put in the Cd and then pick where to install it (Default is the CD it is being installed from) I have tried my C drive and my external drive but neither works. A error message pops up and says Setup could not find a file or the specified path or disc. Please check that the proper disk is insert or specify new path.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne of my drives in raid0 crashed and fortunately I had windows 7 x64 backup activated and running daily. After recreating the array with the remaining drives, I tried to restore from the external usb drive but it didn't work. Apparently the problem is that I had been running "file backup" and not "image backup". Probably because when I configured backup for the first time, it asked to back up all my drives which was not possible and not needed so didn't check the image backup button.
Now the backup set is visible only from within windows (I set Windows 7 again up) but NOT from the restore part of Windows 7 setup / recovery disk. Files inside the backup set are not .vhd but zipfiles. All my c: drive files actually ARE inside the backup set, but running restore will restore all the crap folders (like c: vidia) except from the system folders like c:windows, c:program files (and x86), c:programdata etc.
Any way to restore these? I am thinking of the possibility of somehow restoring all the files and running windows repair on top of this to actually make c:drive bootable again. My users folder is not affected as I had moved it to d: but this presents the additional challenge of being able to actually make the system see the users folder....

From time to time at any old time of the day (randomly it seems in other words) I'll go in and try to arrange, rename, or get rid of files and I'll get "The action can't be completed because the file is open in Windows Explorer. Close file and try again". Except that the file ISN'T open anywhere.

View 4 Replies View Related"windows 7 setup.exe corrupt file the file or directory is corrupt"I'm trying to install 7 32bit OEM Home Premium with the legit bought holographic CD (not a burned image of any kind) onto a Gateway laptop with a brand new hard drive.I was getting this error installing the OS the regular way booting to the cd and installing from it, so instead I copied the contents of the cd to a freshly quick formatted NTFS partition on the new laptop hard drive, then used bootsect and diskpart to setup the disk. It boots just fine and also gets the same error installing straight from the hard drive.

When I try to open it I receive the error message "viewer.bat not a valid Win32 application". I'm also not sure how a .bat has anything to do with a video file (unfortunately I have no experience with .bat files).
There are is also a folder on the CD called "disstech" and it has three folders in it called "bin", "dis" and "log". What am I working with here?
