As I open windows update, and check for updates, after a while it gives me an error:
"Windows could not search for new updates. An error occured while checking for updates for your computer. Error(s) found: Code 80073712."
I have also tried Windows Readiness Tool, it doesn't fix my computer, I still can't check for updates successfully.

I have installed them numerous times.I check the update history and it says they were successful. (If that's the case why are you wanting to install again? ) Now when I try to "check for updates" I get the error 80073712.I have tried Microsoft fixit numerous times. I have tried the hotfix KB947821(also numerous times) to no avail.
When I try to check for updates I get an error code saying that I need to install new windows update software but after trying to install it I get an error windows could not check for updates and get an error with the title as an error(error 800703F1).
(might be related) Some days ago windows tried to install some updates but failed several times. Every time I restarted the PC it said the updates failed to install and then I had to re-download them.
So I can't use windows update to search for new updates at the moment.

When I went to install the x64 drivers, I got a message saying that my Operating System was not compatible, but then it asked me if I wanted to run it under the correct settings, which I did and then it installed. As for the Windows Updates, I tryed to run them and I get "Windows could not search for new updates" and error code C004F012.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI had the same 3 updates continually installing everytime I logged on. They were sucessful in update history but kept comming back. I ran the system rediness tool, but it didn't help. I ran the microsoft fix it soultions for windows update normal then aggressive. Now I get this error while checking for updates. I tried to run sfc /scannow and then sfc /verifyonly but get the following error: windows resource protection could not perform the required operation. I also tried to install the latest service pack got the following error: error_sxs_componet_store_corrupt(0x80073712). When I look at programs->installed updates nothing listed, also when I look at programs->turn on/off windows features nothing listed.

I have downloaded and run system readiness tool. I have run troubleshooting/fix problems with windows update I have run sfc/scannow. I have run MS Fixit as well.
I seem to have a corrupt manifest file. My laptop came windows 7 loaded so I only have recovery disks and a recovery partition. I don't want to have to do a complete recovery and have to install all my software again.

Whenever I have tried to do the update to instal Service Pack 1 the process has always failed, giving me "error 80073712". I have tried doing some of the possible solutions found throughout the internet, including disabling anti-virus software, downloading SP1 manually and installing it on my own, attempting to install in safe mode, doing check disk, but nothing seems to work. What can I do?

I did some reading and I tried some solutions with no luck: 1) Run System Update Readiness tool from Microsoft. 2) Run the System File Checker which could not run giving me a "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation" message
I also looked in my Windows/logs/CBS/CBS file and I found several errors with mainly " Failed to get CSI store"
Today a message came up saying that windows could not check automatically for updates and after clicking it to search manually I got the thread title as an error(error 8008005). several of the Windows 7 machines on our domain here at work are reporting that windows could not search for new updates. We have just recently had a new server installed SBS2011 and then shorty after is when this issue sprang up. The windows xp machines are able to update fine.

The problem is similar to the one I described previously (here: Windows could not start the Windows Search service on Local Computer)
...namely, I am running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit, and have experienced the same error message ( windows cannot find 'search:query=XXX', where XXX is my search query) when attempting to initiate a search via the Windows start menu search box. Unfortunately, my previously proposed solution (of removing a network search location from Windows Search Index list) does not resolve it.....and so finally I resorted to using Samhrutha's proposed solution of modifying the registry to reset Windows Search back to default (which DID work...but ended up removing all the search index customizations I had made).
However, when I then modify the search indexing options to include indexing of my C: drive, I get the "windows cannot find 'search:query=XXX'" error message.
If I then uncheck the C: drive box in the search in the search indexing options, the error message does not occur....so I then went thru a tedious process of trying to identify which folders on my C drive were causing the issue, and from what I am able to tell, the "windows cannot find 'search:query=XXX'" error message seems to always occur when the indexing options include at least one folder WHICH IS OWNED by TRUSTED INSTALLER (e.g., program files folder, program files (x86), c:, etc.). This wasn't a problem previously, so my guess is that MS Update recently (e.g., w/in the last few months) changed some security setting which now prevents Windows Search from being able to index/access folders owned by TRUSTED INSTALLER, resulting in the "windows cannot find 'search:query=XXX'" error message.
What happens is that I get the error 80096001 as Windows is trying to look for new security updates. As mentioned in post #68 from the above thread, I have already tried the following and none have worked.[URL]

When I search using Windows Explorer, after approx. 30 seconds, I get the following error: "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."Would anyone know why I am getting this error and where would be a good place to start to correct it?I did a clean boot even excluding windows programs and the problem was still there. I work on a place that repairs computers, I have one pc laptop dell, which I made the dell recovery, immediately after that, I try to do the updates and said to reboot as the service was disabled but it isn't. I try to do by our hard disks we run a program that have all updates for 7, it starts installing sp1 and says catastrophic error. The defender is down. I read something about windows defender.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am getting BSOD everytime I boot up the computer. It will say configuring windows then crash to BSOD and say dumping physical memory. Code error is 0x000000d1. It says that Ndis.sys is involved. Top of the BSOD it says Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL or something. it just continues this cycle of trying to boot up followed by crashing.
I can boot up in safe mode, but not safe mode with networking. So I'm not sure how to download the latest drivers without an internet connection.
I am running Windows 7 service pack 1 on a Dell inspiron 546. I have tried booting in safe mode and running msconfig to only boot up microsoft programs, and i've disabled Mcafee security and firewall.
