Whenever I have tried to do the update to instal Service Pack 1 the process has always failed, giving me "error 80073712". I have tried doing some of the possible solutions found throughout the internet, including disabling anti-virus software, downloading SP1 manually and installing it on my own, attempting to install in safe mode, doing check disk, but nothing seems to work. What can I do?
I have been trying to install SP1 since Apr 2011. I keep getting the error 80073712. I have been able to install all of the other updates. I have downloaded and run system readiness tool. I have run troubleshooting/fix problems with windows update I have run sfc/scannow. I have run MS Fixit as well.
I seem to have a corrupt manifest file. My laptop came windows 7 loaded so I only have recovery disks and a recovery partition. I don't want to have to do a complete recovery and have to install all my software again.
Here is the message in the checksur file.
Checking System Update Readiness. Binary Version 6.1.7601.21645 Package Version 13.0
I had the same 3 updates continually installing everytime I logged on. They were sucessful in update history but kept comming back. I ran the system rediness tool, but it didn't help. I ran the microsoft fix it soultions for windows update normal then aggressive. Now I get this error while checking for updates. I tried to run sfc /scannow and then sfc /verifyonly but get the following error: windows resource protection could not perform the required operation. I also tried to install the latest service pack got the following error: error_sxs_componet_store_corrupt(0x80073712). When I look at programs->installed updates nothing listed, also when I look at programs->turn on/off windows features nothing listed.
I am having trouble installing sp1 despite other windows updates having been flawless so far. I tried following instructions found at the Windows site but the System Update Readiness Tool didn't find any errors and repair installation aborts. Sorry to bother you with another "sp1 fail" thread but I have exhausted my search options for solution here and in other sites, which makes this request for help my last resort.
I have windows 7 pro with SP1.I'm having a problem with three updates.
KB2633171 KB2676562 KB2679255
I have installed them numerous times.I check the update history and it says they were successful. (If that's the case why are you wanting to install again? ) Now when I try to "check for updates" I get the error 80073712.I have tried Microsoft fixit numerous times. I have tried the hotfix KB947821(also numerous times) to no avail.
I got notification 1/9 that 14 updates are available for Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. All installed but 1. Update KB2773072 generates error code 80073712. I have re-tired multiple times each after a system reboot. The update is RECOMMENDED not critical. I can probably go without it. It appears it is related to gaming applications. I don't game. getting the update installed?
I installed a lot of updates yesterday, except DotNet 3.5 SP1 and Windows 7 SP1, because WU gives me the following errors when I try to install such updates:
800B0100 80073712
I already tried the Update Readiness Tool and nothing.
I recently re-installed windows and am now trying to install the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010). All goes well, it installs everything, but as it finished I get this error: I have tried redownloading, using other installers and updating my graphics drivers. Nothing will work. It's probably worth mentioning that the first time I tried installing, about a week ago, my computer totally froze in the middle of the install and I had to force restart.
I'm working on a client's laptop, compaq Presario CQ57, 2gb ram 250 GB HDD.
I installed a new harddrive and installed a new copy of Win 7 Home Premuim x64 After it reboots, it just hangs in the welcome screen with the Windows logo.
I reboot via Windows 7 repair disc and run C: chkdsk /r and I get this message "disc check error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1"
I'm trying to install Boris FX RED 5 trial on Windows 7 64bit. Each time I try to install it I get the following error message:'Error 1926. Could not set security for file C:Windows. Error: 0. Verify that you have sufficient privilages to modify the security permisions for this file.'I contacted Boris FX who told me it's a Win 7 error. I have an administrators account and UAC is set to off. I've never encountered this installation error before since I installed Win 7 about a year ago.I can't find an '. Error:0.' file or folder. I tried to change permissions on the 'Windows' folder but this wouldn't work.
I was installing windows with a clean install and everything went smooth.
The installation got to "completing installation" and after about 15 minutes, i heared few "beeps" from the computer (not the speakers).
the computer restarted itself and then installed the registery files...
after that, it went to a blue screen with a flower (like in the start of the install) and said: "Starting Services ".
after about a 4 seconds, it said: "The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click OK to restart the computer, and then restart the installation"
when i clicked on "OK" the computer restarted it self and repeat to show the message.
i tried to redownload and reburn but it repeat it self, both 64bit ver. and 32bit ver. so it isnt a corrupted file.
i got no other OS on my computer, because after 4 years my computer started to slow down, so everyone told me to format, so i formated the computer and wanted to install windows 7 so i got no other computer to play games on (im using a old laptop right now).
I took advantage of the student offer for Windows 7 upgrade!
I downloaded the Windows 7 installer and when I try to run it I get this error.
"We are unable to create or save new files in the folder in which this application was downloaded. Please check the folder properties to make sure that you have security permission on the folder to write files and that the folder is not read-only"
I'm trying to upgrade my Toshiba (Satellite) Vista to Windows 7 Home Prem. edition.
Everything seemed to be going well until the end and I entered into (any) user account. Windows 7 started to prepare the user account...suddenly I get a IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error...that's it...no help at all? Restarted and got the error Stop 0x000000A at about same place. Gee's, this was supposed to be a simple install now; stupid MSFT.
I have 2 other computers I wanted to upgrade but now...?

Whenever I try to install the driver for my onboard sound card(Asrock C-media Ac97) the following error is rendered: I found the driver on this thread: UDA051_build01_Logo51.3_Standard_.rar (PeterBoard's post)
Is this a problem with impulse not supporting/blocking the install on Windows7, as Ive heard they block some games from windows 7, or is this an unrelated error that needs a different fix?
I have an old Dell XPS Gen2 desktop that is running WinXP. I wipped my Raid0 hard drives to perform the install of Windows7. After helping the setup see my raided hard drives, I started the install.
After the second step in the installation process I keep getting an error message that says something like: "Windows could not configure your computer's boot sequence. The installation could not continue"
Does anyone know what I'm missing? Could my bios be too out of date for this setup? or is it something else?
I've tried to install Windows 7 numerous times. It gets through the entire process and then I get a blue screen of death at the "Completing Installation" screen.
It says there is a problem with igdkmd32.sys which is an Intel graphics accelerator driver.
The thing is, when doing a search, I don't have that file on my computer at all. My only graphics driver in the system area is my GeForce 7600GS. There is nothing showing the Intel one so nothing to disable.
WIN 7 installs a-ok to Seagate 500GB Sata HDD when drive is direct connected to main board using SATA data and power cables. Problem is, WIN 7 fails to find the same drive when the drive is installed into a KingWin removable drive bay. Drive shows a-ok in setup (BIOS). Ubuntu or Mint Linux installs a-ok onto same drive in the KingWin removable drive bay.
I just got a new laptop and im trying to put windows 7 on it. 64bit. Everything goes well until it goes to first boot up. When it goes to first boot up after that display of weird lights on the bottom. It restarts it self and then goes to boot though vista, Which isn't there any more cause i wanted to format to get rid of blotter where. After it boots though vista it goes to a grey screen then all of a sudden a ERROR comes up in what looks like a text document.
i am trying to put win 7 onto a medion pc which has vista 32bit, i have tried doing a clean install and an upgrade but it will not run for more than one restart.one of the erorr msgs were unverified and the others are anything from system repair to the pc not booting up
I've had a few problems with my Acer desktop so decided to do a fresh reinstall.I downloaded two different copies of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP 1 (one from the Del forum, can't remember where the other was from!). Burnt one to an ISO DVD and the other to a ISO USB drive. I installed the latest BIOS.I disconnected all HDD apart from the one I wanted to install onto - which I did a format of (from within Windows 7 - the fast format). The Windows 7 install get's to the "Expanding Windows files" which sticks at 0%.I then get a error (x80070017) which says it cant extract the files?
Basically my friend asked me to install seven on his laptop for him so that it would dual boot his current os and seven. Both are 32 bit so thats ok. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5920, and had two partitions on the laptop when I looked at it. The main one was for vista and it was called ACER. The second seemingly has no purpose and he never used it and was called DATA. So I thought that it would be easy enough, just format the DATA partition and install seven on it.
So I started up the win-7 install disc and installed it to the DATA partition after formatting it with the win-7 partitioning tools. This was ok and at the end of installation it wanted to restart and I let it. It then rebooted and completed setup. This should be it done. So I removed the disc and booted like normal, the windows boot manager came up like ususal giving me the choice of what os to boot into, so I booted into vista to check it was all right. It was. So then I decided I would go ahead and set up his user and all for him so I booted into seven. I managed to set it up and it once again (like normal) wanted to restart. So it did...
But now it boots past the bios screen and nothing appears. Even after 10 minutes nothing loads. Only a single underslash i.e. _ flashes. (EDIT: This is the BSOD!) The bootloader doesn't even appear! Just the underslash! I have never encounted this problem before and I am extremely confused as to why this has happened! I tried the install again but the same result came up.

I've installed Windows 7 32-Bit RC1 on my desktop without issues using Daemon tools and mounting the ISO and installing to a separate partition, that's all very peachy. The original OS was Vista HP 32-bit.
Can't say the same for my laptop running Vista HP 64-Bit. Using the same method, the installer gets to about 12% and then comes with this error.
Windows cannot copy files required for installation. The files may be corrupt or missing. Make sure all files required for installation are available, and restart the installation. Error code: 0x80070241
I've downloaded more then 10 GB in the past 3 days re-downloading .ISO from both the Microsoft site and Bittorrent sites and seeing if they're corrupted. They're not. I get the same error every single time. Something else is the problem.
I tried installing BOTH the 32-bit and 64-bit inside my Laptop Vista 64 bit OS and I get the same error.
I've also unzipped the .ISO to my drive and tried installing that way. Same deal. Why did my Desktop go so smooth but my laptop is a living hell?
