I just got a new laptop and im trying to put windows 7 on it. 64bit. Everything goes well until it goes to first boot up. When it goes to first boot up after that display of weird lights on the bottom. It restarts it self and then goes to boot though vista, Which isn't there any more cause i wanted to format to get rid of blotter where. After it boots though vista it goes to a grey screen then all of a sudden a ERROR comes up in what looks like a text document.

I have all my Fast track drivers and the pro tools up-to-date. The thing is I just dont know how to discover the driver that is causing this and why if it supose to be compatible with my system req.
my system is
ASUS K42JK I3 core 4 gb ram windows 7 ultimate 64 sp1 at least 50 gb of free space after the install. video card and sound card(onboard) of good rates.
I'm weeks of spasmodic attempts into replacing my old C-drive with a new SSD and a clean install of Windows 7, 32 bit. Here's the current loop: Following Sandisk's instructions on formatting SSD for use as OS with Win 7:
1) I verify BIOS - SATA is (as before) set to ACHI 2) I place Windows 7 upgrade disc in drive, hoping to use "Option 1 - normal clean install" (from Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version ) 3) I get "Windows Error Recovery" screen, stating "windows did not shut down normally" (white text on black screen), with two options - start normally, or startup repair.
- if I select "start normally," it merely returns (after a minute or two) to the same Error Recovery screen after some POSTs (nothing other than single-beep) - no request for my input, no "press any key," etc. - if I select default ("startup repair") option load: "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically" ultimately results after a lot of attempting to repair, etc.
PC will still run Ok from old HD when connected, and shows the SSD in Disk Management with a "System Reserved" 100 MB (F) partition along with a 112GB (E) partition. I keep thinking I need to wipe those and try again, but not sure how or if that's even worth trying. I did have the same SSD up and running Win 7 for a brief time - didn't start at some point afterwards...
I am having difficulty with drivers on my Acer Aspire 5253 system using Win 7. It is a couple months old. Within the last month, I have been getting random blue screen of death error messages in which the computer shuts down to prevent damage. The computer boots up fine without any problems. The blue screen that I see contains the same information each time.
Blue screen and freezing. This is happening frequently but never has any regularity to it. Sometimes happens after a couple of days and sometimes after a couple of minutes. Also sometimes with only one browser window open and sometimes with 15 or more. Happens with both chrome and firefox. Has not happened with other programs as this lapy only gets used for surfing/email/forums etc. Sometimes happens while the computer is sitting idle right after boot. Very strange.
I have Windows 7, Live Mail. Mail with attachments come in with no problems, like photo attachments, but my mail will not go out with photos attached. They are not huge files. I get an error message "error/tasks" but then that screen freezes.
I recently re-installed windows and am now trying to install the DirectX End-User Runtimes (June 2010). All goes well, it installs everything, but as it finished I get this error: I have tried redownloading, using other installers and updating my graphics drivers. Nothing will work. It's probably worth mentioning that the first time I tried installing, about a week ago, my computer totally froze in the middle of the install and I had to force restart.
I'm working on a client's laptop, compaq Presario CQ57, 2gb ram 250 GB HDD.
I installed a new harddrive and installed a new copy of Win 7 Home Premuim x64 After it reboots, it just hangs in the welcome screen with the Windows logo.
I reboot via Windows 7 repair disc and run C: chkdsk /r and I get this message "disc check error 766f6c756d652e63 3f1"
I'm trying to install Boris FX RED 5 trial on Windows 7 64bit. Each time I try to install it I get the following error message:'Error 1926. Could not set security for file C:Windows. Error: 0. Verify that you have sufficient privilages to modify the security permisions for this file.'I contacted Boris FX who told me it's a Win 7 error. I have an administrators account and UAC is set to off. I've never encountered this installation error before since I installed Win 7 about a year ago.I can't find an '. Error:0.' file or folder. I tried to change permissions on the 'Windows' folder but this wouldn't work.

Can't find any info with a quick search. I am more a hardware, not software guy. I don't know if this is related but it is a $1000 gaming rig with an SSD, boots up great, but takes about 5 minutes to shut down. Reason for this?

I am a computer musician using a PC running Windows 7. My problems began when I was working on a new track in Abelton Live 8. I had a decent size project running when Abelton crashed. It was late so I just shut down my PC and went to bed. The next afternoon, everything booted up fine. I loaded Abelton and the project I was working on. As soon as the project opened I got a blue screen. I tried restarting my computer and this time Windows would not even boot. I received an error message saying BAD_POOL_CALLER. I restarted in Safe Mode and Windows was able to boot, but an error box came up saying that it could not load NVCP.dll. I contacted my computer guy and he said that file is for my NVidia drivers and that I should uninstall them, try to boot and if that worked then reinstall them with the latest version. I go into the Control Panel and try to Remove Program but the NVidia driver will not uninstall. There are 5 drivers listed for NVidia and 4 of them will uninstall by themselves, but one of them is completely unresponsive. Every time I select it and hit uninstall it just sits there and nothing happens. I tried reinstalling the drivers but it gives me an error every time it begins to unpack the zip file so I can't do that either. I've tried in both Safe Mode and Normal but I keep getting blue screen crashes as I'm trying to fix the problem.
For a while (ever since I updated my BIOS, I think) my computer have been taking around 10 minutes to shut down and after the 10 minutes it shows a blue screen for a second and then it restarts/shutdown. I recorded the computer screen while it was shutting down and was able to take a screenshot of the blue screen. This is what it says: Code: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen. Restart your computer. If this screen appears again follow these steps:
Check to make sure any new hardware or software or software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable BIOS memory options such as catching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components , restart your computer, press F8 to select Advances Startup Options, and then select Safe Mode.

For the past two months or so my PC has been randomly restarting with no noticeThis can happen when I'm playing a game, working on a word doc in OpenOffice, or browsing the web using Firefox or Chrome. It displays no error message besides the "Windows did not shut down properly" upon restarting. It seems to happen at least once a day. Sometimes it happens shortly after the computer starts up. Other times it happens hours later.- the original installed OS on the system? - Yep- an OEM or full retail version? - Full Retail- What is the age of system ()? - Roughly 14 months- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?) - Roughly 14 months
Start Up with Boot Disc Loaded still yielding Black Screen with No's 1&2 and no Defined Purpose to the Numbers... 1 however just Boots Win7x86, and 2 still yields Non Boot Disc or Disc Error, replace and press any key to Restart Alert... This just boots Win7x86 also...
Still unable to get Partition Selection Page at S/U... Tried Downloadin' EasyBCD, but that's no Help... Tries followin' the Tutorials, also no Help... Burned 3 Discs thru CDBurnerXP (How I did my x86 Disc I'm runnin' off of now), Windows own ISO Burner in Win7x86 and no luck...
I recently started up my computer and a weird screen error appeared. Ill try my best to explain it. The screen is split up into 4 sections and its kinda blurry. Its almost like permanent safe mode.
I have a viewsonic tablet with windows 7 home premium 32bit. Would like to use the on-screen keyboard, but recently it won't load up and get an error message "Could not start on-screen keyboard"... have read through forums here, and nothing has solved so far.
I have a photoscreensaver error that reads as follows:
Photoscreensaver.scr Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point DwmHintDxUpdate could not be located in the dynamic link library USER32.dll
It comes on when the screensaver starts, I have go no screen saver organised, the screen just goes black, then when I move the mouse the black screen goes and the above is in a box. It is possibly related to a rolling wallpaper I am using from my photos folder.
The screen saver for Win 7 HP on my DELL Laptop doesn't get activated. Even the dell tech support teacm tried to activate it remotely, but didn't succeed.
I own an Asus K61IC laptop (Pentium dual-core processor 2.7 Ghz) which runs Windows 7 Home Premium (pre-installed). A few days ago it started to get stuck during some startups at the welcome screen (preceded by a small hang time between you click the user and the password box comes up). Today the problem became serious after it got stuck again at the first boot-up, and I had to turn it off from the on switch. Finally it successfully start from the second time and when it did I searched in the event logs and found 2 errors which happened during the first boot-up: -Zone alarm could not start because it timed out (I'm not too worried because the second startup showed a similar error with spybot) -The embedded controller (EC) did not respond within the specified timeout period. This may indicate that there is an error in the EC hardware or firmware or that the BIOS is accessing the EC incorrectly. You should check with your computer manufacturer for an upgraded BIOS. In some situations, this error may cause the computer to function incorrectly. (I copy/paste this from the event log, if you need the hole thing ask for it) I should mention the computer runs avira free and that I checked using the Asus Live Update that the BIOS is up to date.
I have been experiencing a problem that has occurred out of nowhere on my HP TouchSmart Tx2-1377nr laptop. I'll go step by step on what happens when I turn it on:1.Standard Boot Screen occurs.2."Windows Error Recovery" Screen. On this screen I have two options, launch startup repair or start windows normally.2a. If I start the startup repair it shows a loading files screen then I am met with the backround of my login screen. No user accounts are shown and all I can control from this screen is my cursor. After a couple seconds, a command prompt window flashes and disappears and from there on I'm stuck on this screen till I unplug the battery or emergency shut off.2b. If I start windows normally the 4 color loading animation starts. Then the computer just bluescreens, and restarts and I'm sent back to step 1.I've tried a lot of things. I've started it in safe mode, done every option off F8, done a lot with my BIOS, and tried reinstalling windows off the windows installation disk. When I try to install windows off the disk, it holds me on the setting up installation screen with the same backround as step 2a.
