View 1 RepliesInstalled Windows 7 last night. Everything seems fine except two of the screen savers – Goldfish Aquarium 2 and Marine Aquarium 2 + Time both cause the following error message to pop up when selected (and neither work):
Error while unpacking program, code LP5. Please report to author.
I have found a number of different things on the code LP5 error, but nothing specific to these two programs.
Any ideas? Anyone know how to fix this? Anyone have the same issue?
I really like the Sharks, Terrors Of The Deep screen saver but unfortunately it doesn't work with Windows 7. One of the main things that I liked about the screen saver was the exit on mouse move option. Since I use a wireless mouse I turned the option off so I could turn off the mouse when I want to get off the computer for a while without turning the computer off.
View 1 Replies View RelatedChanging the Windows 7 screen saver is really easy. There are several screen savers included with Windows 7 and it is even possible to download new ones from the internet. Windows 7 is fully compatible with screen savers designed for Windows Vista or Windows XP. In this video we'll show you how to change your screen saver and also how to install a new one.
View 0 Replies View RelatedJ see others have problems with screensavers in Windows 7. I'm also having problems with even the screensavers that come with windows 7. They won't load automatically. I've been using a Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 5000 and a Microsoft Keyboard connected to a USB port (not wireless) for several years with no problems and I installed the latest drivers from Microsoft. I've uninstalled and reinstalled my NVIDIA video driver. All drivers and programs are updated. I wonder if this is a problem with Winows 7?? I CAN load the screensavers manually, but this defeats the purpose of screensavers which adds some amusement and fun to an idle computer!!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI running a dual monitor setup with an LCD monitor and a plasma tv. I want to be able to have screensavers run independently on each monitor, so if I'm doing something on the LCD, but not on the plasma, then the screensaver will start on the plasma but not the lcd. If the screensaver doesn't start then the plasma tv it will get an image burn in.

Sporadically when he types an email in outlook or a document in word, he will have a window that pops up over his document that looks a little bit like an Aero transparent window with a windows icon in the middle. There are no screen savers set in Win 7 or in Win XP and I cannot figure out why it would come up and why its not repeatable every time. Here is a picture.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty with drivers on my Acer Aspire 5253 system using Win 7. It is a couple months old. Within the last month, I have been getting random blue screen of death error messages in which the computer shuts down to prevent damage. The computer boots up fine without any problems. The blue screen that I see contains the same information each time.
View 14 Replies View RelatedBlue screen and freezing. This is happening frequently but never has any regularity to it. Sometimes happens after a couple of days and sometimes after a couple of minutes. Also sometimes with only one browser window open and sometimes with 15 or more. Happens with both chrome and firefox. Has not happened with other programs as this lapy only gets used for surfing/email/forums etc. Sometimes happens while the computer is sitting idle right after boot. Very strange.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have been experiencing a problem that has occurred out of nowhere on my HP TouchSmart Tx2-1377nr laptop. I'll go step by step on what happens when I turn it on:1.Standard Boot Screen occurs.2."Windows Error Recovery" Screen. On this screen I have two options, launch startup repair or start windows normally.2a. If I start the startup repair it shows a loading files screen then I am met with the backround of my login screen. No user accounts are shown and all I can control from this screen is my cursor. After a couple seconds, a command prompt window flashes and disappears and from there on I'm stuck on this screen till I unplug the battery or emergency shut off.2b. If I start windows normally the 4 color loading animation starts. Then the computer just bluescreens, and restarts and I'm sent back to step 1.I've tried a lot of things. I've started it in safe mode, done every option off F8, done a lot with my BIOS, and tried reinstalling windows off the windows installation disk. When I try to install windows off the disk, it holds me on the setting up installation screen with the same backround as step 2a.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was checking emails today and I got a blue screen of death on Windows 7. I didn't take a screen capture, however the error message had to do with winSys32.exe, and then the usually memory dump messages. I rebooted into safe mode and tried running Spybot, but it came up with an error, so I downloaded and ran Malwarebytes anti-malware. It found 5 problems and I deleted them. I then ran Avast and it found no infections. Figuring it was a malware problem, I rebooted. Now Windows won't load. It gets to the Welcome screen, then goes to a blank black screen, with a mouse cursor. The cursor can be moved. I powered down the computer, pulled the battery, and booted it back up. This time I got a black screen, saying my disks had to be checked for inconsistencies. I ran the scan and it found no errors. Windows started to load, then stopped at the blank black screen again. I have my laptop set up with Ubuntu 11.04 on a sperate partion and I have not any problems with it, so I think the issue is related just to Windows, not hardware. My laptop is an Asus g72g, with an Intel Core 2 duo processor @ 2.53ghz, 6 gigs of ram and an Nvidia graphic card. Other then adding Ubuntu I have not done any upgrades to the system. Windows 7 was a installed at the factory, not an upgrade, and I haven't added any software in 6 months or so.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi have a MSI A6000 Laptop. Ive been trying to fix this problem for 2 day with 12 hours time and read countless forums but still haven't been able to solve it.
I recently encountered windows 7x64 installation error, where i could not select disk partition to install. ( i formatted and deleted all of the partitions for a clean install). But somehow after running the memory diagnosis i was able to go through the installation. But during the installation on the second time it restarts, my computer gets a black screen when starting.
i cannot access the post screen menu or the recovery option( it is however possible to access the same thing via booting through the USB and selecting the recovery option instead of installing). Also the memory diagnosis tool does not work any more giving an error. The bios options are as follows:
MAIN : Serial ATA [Hard Disk]
Serial ATA [ATAPI CDROM]
Advanced: PCI Latency timer [64]
Legacy USB support [enabled]
AHCI Mode [endabled]
[BSOD] Blue screen error :PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA in windows 7
View 9 Replies View RelatedA while ago i dual booted windows 7 onto my vista running laptop and it works perfectly. It is a huge improvement on vista, it is faster, better designed and its new features are very useful. Because of this success I know am trying to dual boot it onto my xp running desktop. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to like it.
I have used the same technique that i did on my laptop to install it. I have burnt the iso file onto a disk and run that disk while the computer is running. Checked for online updates and done a clean install. The installation works fine and quite quickly until it comes to the first restart. It restarts and I select "windows setup" on the bios screen as apposed to "an earlier version of windows" which is my xp partition.
It then changes to the starting windows screen that happens just like on my laptop, except the windows logo never materializes and it stays as a black screen with the words "starting windows" on it. i have left the computer on overnight and no change. I have tried reinstalling several times with no luck, both using the same method as before and booting from the disk at startup. Although when I boot from the disk it just skips straight to the same frozen windows startup screen.
I have downloaded the windows 7 adviser software but the program cant seem to make its mind up. Sometimes it announces that my graphics card cant run windows 7 aero and sometimes its fine. I have checked the windows 7 specs and my graphics card appears to meet all the requirements, both dedicated memory and direct x 9 support.
Here are my pc specs:
Dell dimension 5150
XP professional sp3
3ghz intel pentium 4
5 gb RAM
Radeon x300 SE 128mb hypermemory
direct x 9.0
creative SB live! 24-bit
160gb maxator SATA HDD
I was having problems booting Windows 7, so I attempted to use the Bootrec.exe tool to rebuild the my BCD. But I screwed that up big time. Now I get the following error message on a black screen when I attempt to boot up: Windows Failed to start. A recent hardware change or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry. As far as I can tell, the hard drive is operational. The BIOS detected it and it passed the diagnostics test.
My mothers Dell running Windows 7 has a problem where, soon after powerup, the screen goes to a Windows Error Recovery screen featuring two options, either A) Launch Startup Repair, or B) Start Windows Normally. If A is chosen, then it goes to a screen which says, Loading files at the bottom with a loading bar, then when the bar is full, the screen returns right back to the Windows Error Recovery screen. The same with starting normally.

I use windows 7 home premium, an XFX 750i nForce motherboard, intel q9550 processor and an EVGA GTX 460 GPU. I am also using 8Gb of wintec ampx DDR2 RAM. I am not sure what is causing this as I had just taken in my computer about a month ago for a diagnostics at tiger direct and they said everything was fine. I am going to try and run memtest tonight but am curious if anyone here knows what is causing this?
Today, my computer was booting up. It was taking a little too long, so i restarted. When i did, right after the loading screen my computer crashed and the BSOD (blue screen of death) error popped up. I cant access safe mode and i have constantly tried to check memory errors, i restored windows, and ran CHKDSK, all leading to the same problem. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a dell desktop computer with windows 7. As soon as you turn it on it goes straight to the "windows error recovery" screen where it has the option to either start system recovery or start windows normally. If I choose system recovery, it just gets stuck on a screen that looks similar to the backround of the loggin screen, but it's just the backround and my mouse. It will stay on this screen for hours until I turn it off. If I start windows normally, it will have the regular "starting windows" screen then it will flash back to the "windows error recovery" screen. If I try booting into safe mode, or loading the last good configuration, it will always bring me back to "windows error recovery". I have the 2 recovery disks I made when the computer was first bought, but when those are inserted, nothing happens and I'm not sure how to open them, it just always ends up at the "windows error recovery" screen. This computer is only about a year old and I have no idea what to do. I just need it to start up again.
