Screen Gone Black With Error Message BOOTMGR Is Missing
Jul 31, 2011It is a packard bell with windows 7, bought from a large electrical chain, so no support there -it didnt have a restore disk but I have downloaded one, and also made one from daughters laptop. The screen is black with white warning saying BOOTMGR is missing, press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart, When i do this the same happens. I have pressd F12 and booted from downloaded disk.first i get a black screen saying windows loading. then a grey box tha says system recovery options and keyboard input method - a drop down option - i choose united kingdom and hit next.

Jul 9, 2012I recently built an HTPC and it was working OK until last night. I�ve been using it mainly as an OTA DVR and it does wake up,record, etc.I went to program a recording & it was already awake & the HDD indicator LED was on. However the HDTV had a black screen with a message to select boot device & press any key. This was not a BSOD but a black screen. There was no way to select anything as every time I pressed a key the same message displayed another time. I finally powered off.Another program was scheduled to record at this time but it should not have. It was a series schedule set for new but this episode was not. That�s one strike against the EPG. Anyway it started recording after I booted back up but it was missing the first 40 minutes because I booted up 40 minutes into the program.

I received two disks in the mail and installed 64 bit version. I activated and was fine for a few months and got the black screen. This time, I added a usb drive to my comp. and got the black screen. I removed the usb device but the deed was done. I can't find the activation code so I can't activate on line. I have been through all the activation tutorials.

Feb 28, 2010I've been running Win7 Ultimate x64 on a new I7 Quad core system for just 1 month. Bought the system from a legitimate OEM with whom I've dealt for more than 9 years. Win 7 activated with no problems the day I rec'd the system. This morning, for the first time, I rec'd the message that my Win 7 version may not be genuine, and asking if I want to activate or pursue the issue.
Thinking the message may be a result of spyware (even though the system is well protected) I bypassed the message, and my desktop finally loaded without event. I then checked the control panel, which showed that I had a genuine activated copy of Win 7. Have all the current OS updates.
What's going on here? Obviously this message is spurious. Will it be a problem, and what caused it?

Jun 30, 2011I am using an Acer Aspire 5738G, which originally came with Windows Vista Home Premium. Later I got the free Windows 7 Home Premium update disc and never encountered any problem.
But since the last 1 month or so, I've been getting this 'Windows not genuine' message on a random basis. Microsoft Security Essentials says that it will disable itself within 30 days if the issue is not resolved. When I click on 'Resolve issue', an IE window is opened and takes me to Microsoft's website. When I do all the steps explained, everything goes back to normal and my Windows is again considered as genuine.

Feb 17, 2012My laptop will start up with the black 'starting windows' window and then go to the blue screen where it says administrator with an icon. When I click on it it says it's loading then the screen goes black and a little message pops up saying 'windows could not complete the instillation. To install windows on this computer restart the instillation.' when I press my only option which is 'OK' my laptop logs off and shuts down. This keeps happening every time I turn it on.

Oct 31, 2009When I turn my machine on I get the Windows logo, then the screen goes black and a text message advising me that a disk check is occurring, and if I want to skip it I have to hit any key in X... seconds. If I let it run, it eventually goes to all black on the screen, the disk runs and runs - I let it run for two days once - and nothing happens.
If I "hit any key" as instructed it goes to the Windows boot and all appears to be well. I guess I shouldn't complain, but I really hate the whole "disk check" screen thing, and would like to get rid of it. How can I do that?

All of a sudden I am getting a "Not a Genuine Windows" error.Windows is genuine as it's the original installation from Dell with all the updates. He told me that I could not use the Dell reinstall disc but that I could use any Windows 7 retail disc. He said I "could not" use a retail upgrade disc, a real copy of which I have from another computer.thread on this forum under another topic said an upgrade disc is ok. So now I am confused. Can I use the retail upgrade disc to repair the installation or do I need to hunt down a non-upgrade Windows 7 installation disc?

Jun 14, 2012I got a problem since yesterday I get this message from Windows not being genuine. My computer is like 1 1/2 years old and I never had problems since now. I know that my copy of Windows Ultimate is genuine since I activated it by myself well but I sadly don't have the product key anymore since I can't find my installation box. Well I hope that the problem can be fixed without needing a product key.

Jan 11, 2013i have a MSI A6000 Laptop. Ive been trying to fix this problem for 2 day with 12 hours time and read countless forums but still haven't been able to solve it.
I recently encountered windows 7x64 installation error, where i could not select disk partition to install. ( i formatted and deleted all of the partitions for a clean install). But somehow after running the memory diagnosis i was able to go through the installation. But during the installation on the second time it restarts, my computer gets a black screen when starting.
i cannot access the post screen menu or the recovery option( it is however possible to access the same thing via booting through the USB and selecting the recovery option instead of installing). Also the memory diagnosis tool does not work any more giving an error. The bios options are as follows:

Jul 5, 2012I was having problems booting Windows 7, so I attempted to use the Bootrec.exe tool to rebuild the my BCD. But I screwed that up big time.Now I get the following error message on a black screen when I attempt to boot up: Windows Failed to start. A recent hardware change or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. Choose your language settings, then click "Next."
3. Click "Repair your computer."
If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.The Windows Boot Configuration Data file does not contain a valid OS entry.As far as I can tell, the hard drive is operational. The BIOS detected it and it passed the diagnostics test.

Jul 25, 2011I am a computer musician using a PC running Windows 7. My problems began when I was working on a new track in Abelton Live 8. I had a decent size project running when Abelton crashed. It was late so I just shut down my PC and went to bed. The next afternoon, everything booted up fine. I loaded Abelton and the project I was working on. As soon as the project opened I got a blue screen. I tried restarting my computer and this time Windows would not even boot. I received an error message saying BAD_POOL_CALLER. I restarted in Safe Mode and Windows was able to boot, but an error box came up saying that it could not load NVCP.dll. I contacted my computer guy and he said that file is for my NVidia drivers and that I should uninstall them, try to boot and if that worked then reinstall them with the latest version. I go into the Control Panel and try to Remove Program but the NVidia driver will not uninstall. There are 5 drivers listed for NVidia and 4 of them will uninstall by themselves, but one of them is completely unresponsive. Every time I select it and hit uninstall it just sits there and nothing happens. I tried reinstalling the drivers but it gives me an error every time it begins to unpack the zip file so I can't do that either. I've tried in both Safe Mode and Normal but I keep getting blue screen crashes as I'm trying to fix the problem.
