Windows Not Genuine Message / MGADiag Report Included
Jan 15, 2013
I've been getting the "Windows not genuine" message popping up for several months on a 2 -year old home built system (I bought & activated a genuine copy of Windows 7). I've included the MGADiag report below. I've recently reactivated Windows using the Microsoft phone number but that didn't help. The lack of windows updates is now becoming a major problem!.I see in the report below there are several "tampered files".A Kaspersky virus/malware scan reports no problems. [code]

I am using an Acer Aspire 5738G, which originally came with Windows Vista Home Premium. Later I got the free Windows 7 Home Premium update disc and never encountered any problem.
But since the last 1 month or so, I've been getting this 'Windows not genuine' message on a random basis. Microsoft Security Essentials says that it will disable itself within 30 days if the issue is not resolved. When I click on 'Resolve issue', an IE window is opened and takes me to Microsoft's website. When I do all the steps explained, everything goes back to normal and my Windows is again considered as genuine.

I am running Win 7 Pro, OEM that came with my Dell. All of a sudden I am getting a "Not a Genuine Windows" error.Windows is genuine as it's the original installation from Dell with all the updates. I called Dell who tried some stuff and couldn't remedy the problem (we did the uninstall and reinstall the KB971033 update). Dell then told me to call Microsoft which I did.The tech at MS, after trying some things that did not work including accessing my computer remotely, told me we need to do a repair of Windows 7. He told me that I could not use the Dell reinstall disc but that I could use any Windows 7 retail disc. He said I "could not" use a retail upgrade disc, a real copy of which I have from another computer.thread on this forum under another topic said an upgrade disc is ok. So now I am confused. Can I use the retail upgrade disc to repair the installation or do I need to hunt down a non-upgrade Windows 7 installation disc?

I bought my computer in China with Windows 7 home basic OS and it was in Chinese, the sales advisor told me that I could get a friend to give me Windows 7 English OS, so I bought the computer. A friend of mine had windows 7 ultimate OS and he gave it to me, I didn't no about the one computer rule so I though it was OK, after about three months of using it, it started displaying the "not genuine' warningNow I want to buy genuine windows 7 ultimate and this is wI don't have the windows 7 home basic software but I have the the licence key, can I just buy the windows 7 ultimate upgrade pack? An advisor at Microsoft told me that there is away they can go around that, without me having the windows 7 home basic software.

I have had a Compaq CQ62-219wm for over a year; however, now I get a message indicating that my Windows 7 Home Premium x64 is not genuine. Upon downloading a key finder software, I noted that the product key has "Trial" indicated (in spaces 6-10). Could this be a result of not activating within 30 days? My service protection is enabled. Received above cheerio about a week ago ignored it and carried on as I knew my version was indeed genuine have had it for three years. 2 days ago, after normal start up,the screen went blank actually black , and the only thing showing is the above message again ,with the notation " Build 7601 " Unable to get any thing to come up at all except " Task Master " reference which proved to be useless. So made the call to Microsoft in Manila, and was able to convince them that my item was " genuine " however they then left me "in the lurch " saying I need to get in a tech guy, as the MS guy could not guide me out of my black screen situation, tho he gave me several ideas to try and pull up the "Start " button and get back in,So any ideas how I can get myself back to " Square One " ?? let MS know I am not impressed -- they cause the problem , in my opinion.

I recently bought this used laptop, it came with Windows 7 64 bit installed, but no discs. I do have the original disc and activation code for Windows Vista 32 bit. I would like to keep this version of windows, actually I dont care but I dont want to have to reinstall all of my software. Is there some way for me to pay for an activation code from Microsoft without having to reinstall windows and everything?
Here's my WGA stuff: Code:

I got a problem since yesterday I get this message from Windows not being genuine. My computer is like 1 1/2 years old and I never had problems since now. I know that my copy of Windows Ultimate is genuine since I activated it by myself well but I sadly don't have the product key anymore since I can't find my installation box. Well I hope that the problem can be fixed without needing a product key.

A couple of days ago, my laptop which is a few months old, started showing the message on my desktop Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not Genuine" and was asked to validate my Windows. My Windows 7 was pre-installed by the manufacturer and I do not have a key to validate it? I have not had any issues with it so far. I have double checked for any malware etc, no viruses present.

I've been running Win7 Ultimate x64 on a new I7 Quad core system for just 1 month. Bought the system from a legitimate OEM with whom I've dealt for more than 9 years. Win 7 activated with no problems the day I rec'd the system. This morning, for the first time, I rec'd the message that my Win 7 version may not be genuine, and asking if I want to activate or pursue the issue.
Thinking the message may be a result of spyware (even though the system is well protected) I bypassed the message, and my desktop finally loaded without event. I then checked the control panel, which showed that I had a genuine activated copy of Win 7. Have all the current OS updates.
What's going on here? Obviously this message is spurious. Will it be a problem, and what caused it?

Starting a few months ago, I once in a while see a "Windows is not geniune" message as Windows starts to boot. Running Windows 7 Ult 64-bit, I have not yet updated to SP1. I click "ask me later", get another screen that I click out of, and then Windows boots. I go to Control PanelSystem and SecuritySystem and right there at the bottom, it says:
Windows Activation--------------
Windows is activated

This is a retail OEM version.

Hi there, right now I have a non genuine version of Windows 7 Ultimate installed, I'm looking to replace it with a genuine copy of Windows 7 home premium. Could I do this with an upgrade disc or would I need to buy the whole OS? I'm trying to avoid paying 200$ to activate Ultimate.

It's a fake computer analysis and optimization program that displays fake information in order to scare you into believing that there is an issue with your computer so you buy some program. My computer recovered back to normal, except it ran slower than usual and sounded like it was constantly loading/thinking.Within 30 minutes, my computer restarted without being prompted to do so and now it freezes every time it tries to load. I've tried all the safe modes and it freezes before loading windows.I've included two screen shots, where it freezes every time

i installed LibUSB-Win32- drivers so i could use iRecovery on my iPhone,on completion of installation of LibUSB my keyboard and mouse turned off, well all of my USB was disabled. so i was forced to restart, sadly same thing, login screen no keyboard or mouse, i tried in safemode, same thing. however my keyboard works in CMOS and BIOS so i know its a OS issue. and this only happened when i installled LIBUSB, i looked it up and tried manually removing LibUSB using the Win7 setup disks command prompt. i deleted LibUSB0.sys out of Windows/Systen32/Drivers so that LibUSB wont be called upon during start up, however doing this has now meant my PC will reboot after loading Windows even in safemode, the Starting Windows screen appears. fades and riight before it goes to the login screen it restarts, Safemode too. i have no Restore points and i cannot and i mean Cannot Format this harddisk, its not backed up and i have over 400GB of data i absolutely NEED.Im so stuck its not funny i have no idea what to do to get windows booting again and without this silly LibUSB stuff! i dont have aany PS./2 Ports on my mobo either!, what can i do >? Please ive asked everywhere and no one knows what i can do except reformat.

Am expecting to receive my copy of Win 7 tomorrow, have got my drivers ready but am wondering whether there is an issue with installing Win 7 onto a SATA drive.
Had issues when installing XP as it wouldn't recognise the SATA drive and wouldn't load the drivers either. Ended up making a slipstream disk with the drivers on which took a while to get right.
Does Win 7 install onto a SATA drive straight out of the box or will I have the same problems as I had with XP?

I turned on my PC. Windows 7 said 'Windows failed to Load'. I remember something about a system file was corrupted and Windows 7 was attempting to fix it. After about 10 mins it started up. I believe that the pc restored itself to a previous state. I would like to find out what caused the need to restore the machine in the first place. So, Does Windows 7 keep a log/report that holds any information that I can look at?
