View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using an Acer Aspire 5738G, which originally came with Windows Vista Home Premium. Later I got the free Windows 7 Home Premium update disc and never encountered any problem.
But since the last 1 month or so, I've been getting this 'Windows not genuine' message on a random basis. Microsoft Security Essentials says that it will disable itself within 30 days if the issue is not resolved. When I click on 'Resolve issue', an IE window is opened and takes me to Microsoft's website. When I do all the steps explained, everything goes back to normal and my Windows is again considered as genuine.
I bought the home version from Best Buy. A friend updated to ultimate and now says not genuine. How do I reinstall my home version?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running Win 7 Pro, OEM that came with my Dell. All of a sudden I am getting a "Not a Genuine Windows" error.Windows is genuine as it's the original installation from Dell with all the updates. I called Dell who tried some stuff and couldn't remedy the problem (we did the uninstall and reinstall the KB971033 update). Dell then told me to call Microsoft which I did.The tech at MS, after trying some things that did not work including accessing my computer remotely, told me we need to do a repair of Windows 7. He told me that I could not use the Dell reinstall disc but that I could use any Windows 7 retail disc. He said I "could not" use a retail upgrade disc, a real copy of which I have from another computer.thread on this forum under another topic said an upgrade disc is ok. So now I am confused. Can I use the retail upgrade disc to repair the installation or do I need to hunt down a non-upgrade Windows 7 installation disc?

Upon downloading a key finder software, I noted that the product key has "Trial" indicated (in spaces 6-10). Could this be a result of not activating within 30 days? My service protection is enabled. View 5 Replies View RelatedReceived above cheerio about a week ago ignored it and carried on as I knew my version was indeed genuine have had it for three years. 2 days ago, after normal start up,the screen went blank actually black , and the only thing showing is the above message again ,with the notation " Build 7601 " Unable to get any thing to come up at all except " Task Master " reference which proved to be useless. So made the call to Microsoft in Manila, and was able to convince them that my item was " genuine " however they then left me "in the lurch " saying I need to get in a tech guy, as the MS guy could not guide me out of my black screen situation, tho he gave me several ideas to try and pull up the "Start " button and get back in,So any ideas how I can get myself back to " Square One " ?? let MS know I am not impressed -- they cause the problem , in my opinion.
View 10 Replies View RelatedI recently bought this used laptop, it came with Windows 7 64 bit installed, but no discs. I do have the original disc and activation code for Windows Vista 32 bit. I would like to keep this version of windows, actually I dont care but I dont want to have to reinstall all of my software. Is there some way for me to pay for an activation code from Microsoft without having to reinstall windows and everything?

I got a problem since yesterday I get this message from Windows not being genuine. My computer is like 1 1/2 years old and I never had problems since now. I know that my copy of Windows Ultimate is genuine since I activated it by myself well but I sadly don't have the product key anymore since I can't find my installation box. Well I hope that the problem can be fixed without needing a product key.
View 2 Replies View RelatedA couple of days ago, my laptop which is a few months old, started showing the message on my desktop Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not Genuine" and was asked to validate my Windows. My Windows 7 was pre-installed by the manufacturer and I do not have a key to validate it? I have not had any issues with it so far. I have double checked for any malware etc, no viruses present.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been getting the "Windows not genuine" message popping up for several months on a 2 -year old home built system (I bought & activated a genuine copy of Windows 7). I've included the MGADiag report below. I've recently reactivated Windows using the Microsoft phone number but that didn't help. The lack of windows updates is now becoming a major problem!.I see in the report below there are several "tampered files".A Kaspersky virus/malware scan reports no problems. [code]

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've been running Win7 Ultimate x64 on a new I7 Quad core system for just 1 month. Bought the system from a legitimate OEM with whom I've dealt for more than 9 years. Win 7 activated with no problems the day I rec'd the system. This morning, for the first time, I rec'd the message that my Win 7 version may not be genuine, and asking if I want to activate or pursue the issue.
Thinking the message may be a result of spyware (even though the system is well protected) I bypassed the message, and my desktop finally loaded without event. I then checked the control panel, which showed that I had a genuine activated copy of Win 7. Have all the current OS updates.
What's going on here? Obviously this message is spurious. Will it be a problem, and what caused it?
Starting a few months ago, I once in a while see a "Windows is not geniune" message as Windows starts to boot. Running Windows 7 Ult 64-bit, I have not yet updated to SP1. I click "ask me later", get another screen that I click out of, and then Windows boots. I go to Control PanelSystem and SecuritySystem and right there at the bottom, it says:
Windows Activation--------------
Windows is activated
Product ID: xyz
This is a retail OEM version.
i'm wondering if anyone can help with my "not genuine" message that now appearing on my PC. I have installed a retail version of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Hi there, right now I have a non genuine version of Windows 7 Ultimate installed, I'm looking to replace it with a genuine copy of Windows 7 home premium. Could I do this with an upgrade disc or would I need to buy the whole OS? I'm trying to avoid paying 200$ to activate Ultimate.

I started thinking about our computers.. why we cannot run two operating systems on the same computer at the same time - without virtualization. We have plenty of Ram these days and often 2 or 4 Central Processing Units.

View 13 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 installs million updates after format. How can I put these updates inside on my Windows 7 ISO file? Some people told that you can download manually the updates and copy them to Updates folder which is inside on ISO file. But I can not understand which updates exactly should I copy inside ISO. For example: If I put SP1 inside on ISO, should I also add the other updates which are published before SP1? I mean SP1 includes all updates before itself? I realised that after formatting-clean installation of Windows 7, first some updates are installing, after that SP1 is installing and after SP1 ome other updates are installing? So how can I find these update list or something...

View 3 Replies View RelatedHere I am, bebopping around the internet (looking for a sleep remedy) and suddenly, a dialog box popped up, saying that windows was updating itself. It looked like a normal Windows screen, "updated" itself, shut itself down, and rebooted to the welcome screen. I did nothing to warrant this, I didn't click on anything unusual. There was no option asking me if I agreed, or wanted it to be done. I use the Norton Web Safe deal, so I do not visit any sites that have the little red warning flag. I've been ignoring some "critical" updates (ones Microsoft thinks, like an updated version of IE) for a while, but I've never had my machine just up and do this on it's own. I'm obviously concerned about a virus, malware or whatever, but do run a current version of Norton Internet Security, which is updated regularly. A full system scan was done yesterdaty, and a quick one this morning the seach found nothing but the normal cookies. Would Windows decide suddenly that it really really needed to update itself like this? Note, I was in a user mode, since I try not to log into the admin, to help avoid unwanted software installing itself.

Everthing was working fine on XP but when I upgraded to Windows 7 64bit I lost the sound. I have updated the motherboard drivers and still nothing. The only thing i can see that may be a problem is when i go under Control panel> hardware sound> change system sound> properties it show that the S/PDIF jack info shows rear panel RCA Jack. I have my Optical cable plugged in. I have no idea if this is the problem but i cannot change the jack information.
