After Installing Clean Windows 7 Usb Ports Doesn't Work?
Oct 19, 2012
My problem began when someday i had issue in my windows which was usb was not recognized as i tried putting 3 usbs but all of them didn't work and i have 2 usb ports in my laptop which is dell xps 15z so i don't think it is a hardware issue
My problem continued and i searched and searched the internet for solutions but no one really worked so i decided to format the windows and installing new clean windows 7 one, and i did so and after installation i had too many more problems knowing that i installed all the required drivers needed for the laptop and checked them with driver genius, now any usb i plug in isn't even sensed by the lap or self installed like the usb ports have no drivers or anything.I tried the wireless mouse which isn't sensed on another laptop and it installed and worked instantly, so where is driver software installation which should install the mouse automatic?

I just installed Windows 7 as a dual boot with my XPsp3. Now my Logitech Revolution VX mouse has lost all its special functions, and the Setpoint software in unable to work properly.
Any thoughts? The same thing happened when I set up Ubuntu as a dual boot - finally removed the linux.

A few days ago I installed a USB 3.0 card (to be precise, this one: 2-Port USB 3.0 SuperSpeed PCI-E Controller Card - Free Shipping - DealExtreme). It uses the very common NEC PD720200 USB 3.0 controller. I installed the required drivers for Windows 7, and the card worked fine for the first day or so. but not since. Whenever I plug in a USB 3.0 external hard drive, I get a false "This device can perform faster..." message, as if I had plugged the drive in a USB 2.0 port.
The external drive I am using is a Western Digital MyBook Essential 1130. It is definitely a USB 3.0 drive, and came with the required USB 3.0 cable. While the USB 3.0 card was working, I got full-speed transfers to the limit of the hard drive's ability, about 90-100 MB/s. Now I can only get USB 2.0 speeds (33-34 MB/s). Windows insists I have the drive plugged into a USB 2.0 port even though it is plugged directly into the USB 3.0 card.
Things I tried so far: -rebooting and complete power cycle. No difference. -plugging the drive into one port or the other. Also no difference. -Looked in Device manager. The controller is recognized as a USB 3.0 device is using the proper NEC drivers.
Other info that may be important:
-No overclocking settings in use.
-I made sure the cable was plugged in all the way. It's in as far as it can go, but the ports will still only act like USB 2.0 ports.
I might as well throw the card away if it is only going to act as a USB 2.0 device.

I have recently downloaded Windows 7 - 32 bit onto a new discrete (i.e. Physically separate) HDD. In the installation process it had severe problems with USB and PCIe drivers. That is they don't work and there were! marks in Device Manager. I was lucky in having access to an old PS2 kybd which allowed me some access to the new os. Luckily, since I was booting off of a Windows XP Home Edition on a separate HDD I managed to use its drivers which worked on the Windows 7 and allowed me to get my USB kyybd and mouse working again. It also automatically down loaded the other drivers for my devices like the USB dongle for wireless internet access.
This is a long preamble to my actual problem and the reason for this message. I have not had as much success when I tried the same exercise; this time with Windows 7 - 64 bit installation. The 64 bit was installed on a separate partition on the same physical drive as the 32 bit version. The 32 bit drivers from Win 7 - 32 bit and XP don't work. I thought the 32 bit drivers for such basic things as USB pointing devices would work in the 64 bit version; but clearly not. Also, clearly my installation disk is negligent in not loading the drivers in either installation. Where can I go to get these basic drivers.
I have tried Logitech with no luck as my kybd/mouse combo doesn't even show up on their site. I have tried going to Microsoft site to get generic 64 bit drivers but they are not being very kind in that regard. There is nothing to download. Clearly they don't want to give anything away free! My Logitech USB kybd/mouse combo is model Y-RK56A for the kybd and M-RR95 for the mouse. My mobo is a Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H and I have its CD but w/o mouse I can't get it to install on the Win 7-64 partition. I thought when it installed on my XP partition it would have installed both sets of drivers. Can I extract just the 64 bit USB drivers from there?

I seem to have some problem of being overbloated with old instances of COM ports from old drivers versions which evidently these drivers don't bother to free when updated/uninstalled. I'm using Atheros BT Suite which always after installation/update assigns to all BT devices a brand new set of COM# ports, completely ignoring to reuse the old ports. See the picture. So eachtime I update driver, my BT devices get assigned completely new COM ports for communication which results that all application software used to communicate with these devices have to be resetup to new COM port numbers, quite stupid isn't it?

I was rebuilding my computer bit by bit after my old one died on me. I recently purchased a motherboard/cpu and I used an old harddrive with windows xp on it and my old video card from my previous pc.Everything worked fine, all usb ports were up and running, monitor worked great. Than I went to install Windows 7 on my computer from a usb thumb-drive. Everything went smoothly until I got the the first restart. When the computer turned on again, all fans were turning, hard drive was spinning, and led lights turned on but my monitor went black saying no connection, and none of my usb ports work (no lights on my keyboard or mouse).
My computer specs are:
Motherboard: AsRock 970 Extreme3
CPU: AMD-FX 4100
Graphic Card: Zotac GeForce 9500GT
Ram: 2, 4GB (8GB total) Corsair Vengeance DDR3
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.7
Monitor: Asus VH198T

Anything that I plug into the usb ports isn't recognized on my computer. When I plug something in, my computer doesn't make the usual "bloomp" sound and nothing pops up. When I search for my usb in my computer, it's not there. My computer acts like I didn't plug anything in.

So I installed some weird file and it like disabled ALL of my USB ports, hwo can I get them to work again?! Both my keyboard and mouse are USB and I don't have any regular ones, any way I can fix this through my 2nd partition using WinXP? im using the Win XP partition to ask this right now, my Win7 partition seems to run fine like when it happened I thought it froze but it didn't because the wifi signal went off from my USB wireless adapter and my mouse+keyboard adapter both light off as well as my DVC 80 capture device. The file I ran was 'libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.2.exe' from a package I downloaded in a zip called 'iHackintosh iRecovery Package for Windows & Mac' and I REALLY DONT want to restart my computer

When i try to connect my wireless mouse to my laptop it dosnt respond at all. It says it is connected, however nothing works. Ive tried using a Flashdrive and it works fine. Ive also tried with 3 different mice with the same result. Im guessing it has to do with a driver i have recently downloaded from windows update, however, i have restored my computer as far back as i can go, and it still dosnt work.

I'm not sure if any other specs needed to solve this problem.
I upgraded from vista 32bit to windows seven 32bit a few days ago, ever sense i have upgraded i have never been able to use any usb ports. i have went into the device manager and uninstalled and reinstalled the usb port drivers, they will start to work for about 30 seconds then will fail.
This is the error in the properties under usb port:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
I have installed my motherboards new drivers and bios for windows 7. also have updated windows and installed all major updates. I have been working on fixing this error for days now and i have had no success.

I have been having trouble with my usb ports not reading my flash drives. I just did a little test and was shocked to find that my usb ports will run printer and not flash drives? I tried to update the drivers but it says they are up to date. What can cause this? It is 5usb ports 2 in back and three across the front. My system is a Dell Studio XPS Desktop 435T/9000 64 bit windows 7.

I was away on a trip, so I let my parents use my laptop while I was gone. They say it updated, something, but afterwards froze, so they turned it off. Turns out it was several different updates, including a BIOS update. Everything else works fine except for my usb ports which no longer detect anything connected to them. The device manager gives me little yellow warning bubbles by Standard Enhanced PCI to USB Host Controller and Standard OpenHCD USB Host Controller. It says code 19 error and the config info in the registry is missing or damaged. I have tried updating the drivers, uninstalling and letting it re-install, but it hasn't worked. I'm running on a HP Pavilion dv6-3013cl Entertainment notebook, Windows 7 (64bit).

I Seem to be having trouble forwarding my ports, My router model is a D-Link DIR-615. (If needed by PC Specs are down below) When I go into my router and i forward the ports, the forwarding doesn't work, Here is what I know:
- Computer IP Is the correct IP that the port is being forwarded too
- Windows Firewall is Off
- Restarting the Router/Computer Multiple Times
- The router says the ports are forwarded
- I have forwarded the ports to a laptop of mine and that seemed to work
- I tested the ports on this site Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router
- That site told me that the forwarding to my laptop worked, but not to my desktop

I have a sorta working windows 7 32 bit version installed currently. It created a 2nd partion (p when I first installed it. Would you assist me with short and simple instructions on how to create a clean install of the 64 bit version that will allow me to dual boot untill I get the 64 bit version all setup and running? If it works out ok I would like to remove all traces of the corrupt 32 bit version once I get the 64 bit working and all setup. I have all my data backed up and plenty of room on my main hard drive.

I own a very good custom desk PC (Intel Pentium Dual 2200; 2GRAM, 250 G hardisk). I had XPProPack3 and several severe troubles had recently spoiled its nice using. Repairing was a complete failure. I have a 'two' partition. I have installed every program that could be possible in B, plus all the other personal files. C has the system and the usual unavoidable installed other programs. I have decided to buy a brand new 7 Premium and 'clean' installing it. As, at the very beginning of my PC, the mother board had to be replaced. I think the drivers CD I keep belongs to this late. Well, for shortening this enquiry (as it's possible in real life), my concerns are: first, to get a crystal clear tutorial with the 'specificities' Windows 7 might have; second, to ask if, in the case I wouldn't have or find 'the' drivers CD, is it possible (or easy) to get them on line? Please, sorry. I am a simple amateur old computation fan (74 years old; brain still in good conditions, still working as succesful clinician and expert witness

First what I did was use the command prompt (after using system repair disc) to completely reformat my drive c partition on my laptop. Then when I tried to install Windows with the installer cd, it just simply didnt want to boot up. I already tried setting up the BIOS so that it would start the cd/dvd drive first, and I also tried using my windows vista cd. When I used the vista cd and tried to install it on the partition some message shows up on the bottom saying "theres a problem with the hard ware" or something like that..

I got a virus while on Windows 7, it pretty much destroyed the OS. So I had to revert back to Windows vista and try to figure out a way to Install Windows 7 Professional again. To my luck, I can't upgrade from Windows vista (home) to Windows 7 professional.
Now, I don't have the disc, or any other disc so I can burn an ISO(legally).
So, I was wondering, is there a way to perform a clean install? OR, is there a software that will load up the ISO when the PC boots?

I have an newer HP Netbook running Windows 7. I recently installed Open Office 3.3 on the machine, and it works fine, except for some key sequences. For example, in the OO Writer, the key sequence Ctrl-Home should move the cursor to the top of the doc. This works fine on my older HP XP Pro laptop, but my netbook ignores or doesn't understand it. I have removed OO and reinstalled it, but the problem still occurs. So, I guess I need to figure out if this is a Windows or Open Office issue.

I have many years of experience with Windows OSes, but one thing about Win7 is stumping me. I have an application that I want to open when I log in. It's Speedfan, so I can monitor temperatures. I put a shortcut to it in my Start Menu - Programs - Startup folder. If I click on that shortcut it starts the app. But the app never starts when I log in. It shows in the start menu in MSCONFIG and it is enabled.
