Mar 23, 2008Can I remove the display of the e-mail address associated with the name of the person I'm sending mail to in the "to:" box? If I remember, this was not shown in outlook express.

Mar 23, 2008I'm just starting to use Windows Mail - looking for a way to display the names in my contact list (previously address book) on the "home" page of Mail, under the folder list, as I used to see them in Outlook Express. It's much more cumbersome to have to open the contact list, find a name and then click on the email button. Is that the only way to open a new mail with a person's name in the To field?

Sep 4, 2009I run a larger Yahoo Group 1000+ and Yahoo sends html group mails to all members wherby yahoo inserts system messages and sometimes ads at a fixed right border, about 80 charactes to the right. Whilst other e-mail clients insert automatic line breaks into the mail text befor the yahoo generated blocks, Windows Mail does not, the yahoo generated blocks overlay the text, the text continues behind those blocks and continues to the right side as long as a line takes. The only way to show all of the text is to switch to text only display.
I checked all possible option settings I could find but cannot find any option which controls this in Windows mail specific html behaviour. Befor I tell my Vista Users to use Thunderbird or Outlook or other clients- is there a way to change the html behaviour?

The first e-mail address is working fine, but when I send an e-mail to the second address (from the default account), it does not appear in the Inbox. The e-mail does appear in the Sent Items folder with no errors. How do I access the second account to receive/send e-mails?

Members must provide valid e-mail addresses and nobody is to send messages to the group without membership and valid acknowledged address. So, my question is, how did this happen ? How did the message get through, and how did the sender use faked address and still be able to send the message out? We want to stop this.

However, how do I set up this Windows Live mail account?? When I put in my email address as xxxxx@hotmail.com I get the error message that Hotmail is no longer supported. Mar 23, 2008In Outlook Express, I used to add a registry D-String value to the WAB4 folder called "UseOutlook" with a "1" value. This allowed OE to pull my contacts from Outlook and keep the OE and Outlook address books identical. Upgraded to Vista/Windows Mail and even though it pulled my address book from OE, I can't figure out how to link to Outlook as before. Also, even though I've checked the box to automatically fill e-mail name/address when composing an e- mail, it's only auto filling names I've sent e-mails to from Windows Mail, not from the Contacts book.

Mar 27, 2010I have IE8, Windows Vista and Windows Mail, which shows as my default mail and only email address.
I would like to have my Hotmail address as my default mail, but Windows Mail will not allow me to add Hotmail. Wizard error says it does not support HTTP and I cannot see anywhere under Hotmail options/more options where it allows me to change any type of connections to POP3.
I read it can be done in G-Mail, but unfortunately I have Hotmail.
Is downloading "Windows Live" and uninstalling my "Windows Mail" a solution?
I have all my mail forwarded to Hotmail, so I wouldn't lose saved messages.

Jun 1, 2008After sending an e-mail to a large group (130 addresses in total divided on 6 emails) my emails seem to be blocked. I can't send any more emails to anyone,
regardless of the size or number of reciptients.
I only receive a message from System Administrator saying: "Undeliverable: Your message did not receive some or all of the intended recipients. Recipient address rejected: Policy Rejection- Quota Exceeded." I need to be able to send e-mails again

When I go to Contacts via the "Contacts" icon in Windows Mail I get the Contacts File I thought was the one Win Mail was using but it has many more entries (a good thing) and does not have any duplicates. I want Win Mail to use this Contacts File and get rid of the "old/leftover/??" file it is using. The good Contacts File is stored in C:>Users>Ken>Contacts. I don't know where Win Mail is gettting the other file. At one time I had my wife and I both receiving mail to my account. I have since set her up with a separate account.
