I've got 4 yahoo accounts (2 are @yahoo.com) and 2 are through yahoo business from my website address. I've tried a million times to set up these accounts through Windows Mail and it keeps telling me that the address is invalid.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Vista and I find out Hotmail is not longer supported. That is just great! I have done the stuff to still use my hotmail account (I think). However, how do I set up this Windows Live mail account?? When I put in my email address as xxxxx@hotmail.com I get the error message that Hotmail is no longer supported. So what what is my email address extension now? I cannot send pictures out of Photoshop and other problems now that Hotmail is not supported.
View 6 Replies View RelatedIn Outlook Express, I used to add a registry D-String value to the WAB4 folder called "UseOutlook" with a "1" value. This allowed OE to pull my contacts from Outlook and keep the OE and Outlook address books identical. Upgraded to Vista/Windows Mail and even though it pulled my address book from OE, I can't figure out how to link to Outlook as before. Also, even though I've checked the box to automatically fill e-mail name/address when composing an e- mail, it's only auto filling names I've sent e-mails to from Windows Mail, not from the Contacts book.

I can send a new email to these people just fine but cannot use the "reply to" feature.

It told me to use my yahoo log in and password and that is what I try to use and I keep getting the same error message.
I just recently purchased my Vista pc, and I'm having problems organizing my contacts in the new Windows Mail address book (or contacts folder). In OE, I could sort my contacts into folders. Then when I would send an e-mail I could click on "to" and a window opened showing the list of folders in a drop down menu. I would choose the folder I wanted to pick my recipient (s) from. I could choose them individually or in groups. For some reason I can't figure out how to do this with Windows Mail Contacts. I have sorted my contacts into separate folders, but every time I click on "to" to choose the recipients of my message, it does not show the folders, but instead shows every single contact in the folder. It doesn't separate them at all. This makes choosing the recipients very tedious indeed.

This urgent as she uses the computer for her business and it has literally several thousand email addresses, email groups, and messages. The OS is Vista Home Premium. a) When she opens her Contact list , the names are in alphabetical order (which is expected) .However when she composes an email and clicks on the "To" button , the name list displayed is not in alphabetical order by name but strangely ordered by email addresses. Is there a way to rearrange to resort by names?
b) When she types a name in the Address area ie in the box next to "To" , another page opens for search. Is this normal ? With Outlook ( which she used to use until she changed to a new computer running Vista) when you type the name a list of potential email addresses appear. IS there a way to fix this?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI kept getting an error message ("invalid user name or password") everytime I tried to enter in my user name and password to get access to my email with Windows Vista on my new computer. After an exhaustive effort to solve the problem with my ISP and with HP (including deactivating Windows Vista Firewall and shield and uninstalling my spy and virus software and then reinstalling Vista) I contacted Microsoft and paid a well spent $60 and they quickly resolved the problem. Here's what I had to do to make it work.
Open Mail, go to Tools, and then Accounts, click Add and created an E-mail account. (Type "POP3" in the field "My incoming mail server is a server." Under "Incoming mail (POP3):" type: pop.(your service provider), mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "pop.suddenlink.net." Under "Outgoing mail (SMTP):" type "smtp." and your service provider, mine is "suddenlink.net" so it reads "smtp.suddenlink.net." Next, and this is where I goofed, under "Incoming Mail Server" it asks for your "E-mail username:". Put your FULL EMAIL ADDRESS not just the name before "@." Mine reads dsjaggers@suddenlink.net. Then enter in your password (that you gave your internet service provider) in the "Password:" field.{And I checked the box "Remember password" so I don't have to do that every time I go to get my email.} Then MAKE SURE to check the box under "Outgoing Mail Server" that says beside it "My server requires authentication.")
Alright well this is really getting to a point where I feel as if I am getting ripped off I have purchased my computer way back in 2008 and guess what of course my harddrive died so I had to re-install Windows Vista on my computer everything was cool was not acting up, and then I go to look at my Operating system after I installed my new parts in my computer and it told me [NOT REGISTERED] so I said thats alright I go into register it and it says the cd key is invalid so not only can I not register I can't use my computer to the full functionality,

I have two computers running Vista Home Premium. When Service Pack 1 came out, my desktop, which is a clone I built myself, downloaded and installed Service Pack 1 without any problem, but my Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop seems oblivious to Service Pack 1's existence. Although automatic update is on both computers with similar settings (full automatic update), and the laptop has downloaded a number of updates since then and keeps telling me the computer is up to date, I can't help wondering why Service Pack 1 hasn't downloaded and installed, and whether I should install it manually or just assume the computer has a good reason to not install it and leave it alone.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMessing around with Vista trying to figure out some of the features available to me, I played a bit with Media Center. A number of activities comes up with an error message: Invalid Application Unable to launch "" In particular, this happens for Internet TV and Online Media Learn How. A few others I don't recall also does this. Any ideas? Doesn't seem to have much in the way of settings or options that I can or should tweak. Perhaps if there was a way to uninstall and reinstall it, but I suspect it is tightly integrated with the OS. I searched the MS support, but came up empty. Since I see that Media Center is taking an even bigger role in Windows 7, I'd like to figure this out.

Suddenly I cannot contact it, I get an error message by 'Bad Behaviour' telling me I have a virus or something. I have Norton and I dont think I have any viruses. I suspect that 'Bad Behaviour' is reliable, and is finding something suspicious on my registry. The Bad Behaviour page has an automatic removal option for the problematic entries.

I have done a few things, like using vista boot cd to try bootrec.exe (and all it's commands), searching for winload.exe (which hasn't been modified since 2008 by the time stamp), I've done chkdsk /f, and maybe a few other things which right now I can't remember....so If you dare try your hand at the mutant, ooze-breathing bsod I commend you brave one, but I warn you...yes.

The first e-mail address is working fine, but when I send an e-mail to the second address (from the default account), it does not appear in the Inbox. The e-mail does appear in the Sent Items folder with no errors. How do I access the second account to receive/send e-mails?

Members must provide valid e-mail addresses and nobody is to send messages to the group without membership and valid acknowledged address. So, my question is, how did this happen ? The file has been saved as an excel file onto a USB Mem Stick She will be installing Office 2007 etc, Will OE be able to "Import" the CS File into her "New" OE Address Book? (Each mention I have seen describes the CS File as a "text" file)
