Been trying for hours to use Xbox 360 to access music and other files on my compuer, using both Drive address and network address. ALL files can be seen successfully on WMC on the Vista computer but nothing on the Xbox 360 -- except some photos on my son's XP machine (that worked easily).Could really use a simple solution to this please!

in Window XP, i used to be able to select full address to be displayed in the address bar. But for Window Vista, I could not find the way to do it. e.g. instead of showing D:Document, i want to show \sapsgsmapsnap01document. View 9 Replies View RelatedWhenever i create a new email by click "To" to open up my address book for selecting any email address, or when i use "reply all" and want to add in some more email address from the address book, the computer start to run and till it stuck, so the only choice for me is to end this task and type email address instead of selecting email address from address book.
i thought that this is because i got too many email address, thus i deleted most of it and now only got 700 email address inside my address book, i just can not understand that when outlook express can take more than 3000 email address book, but windows mail can not take about 700 email address book. And somemore, this email address book is just useless for me, because whenever i want to use the address book, the windows mail is going to hang... and the only choice is to go to task manager, end this task and restart my windows mail.

1. a "Windows user" is one who continually gets a 403 error but keeps returning here, hoping for a different result. IE. a total and complete idiot.
I am attempting to do file/samba sharing with it. I can access it fine with my laptop through my private network with my Vista Laptop (Ultimate x86), but I am unable to access the share with another XP machine (XP Home). What's interesting, is when I ping the machine name from my vista laptop to it, the name gets resolved to ipv6, and it receives responses. However, when I use the same machine to ping it using it's ipv4 address, it receives no responses. I figure this might be the problem, but the XP machine also has ipv6 installed, and is still not able to resolve the address.

It shows an address of \192.168.1.4 This shortcut generally fails with "192.168.1.4Public is not accessable. You may not have permission to use the network resource. Contact the administrator fo this device to find out if you have access permission". Sometimes it works and gives me the opportunity to enter the admin name and password. View 9 Replies View RelatedMy vista home premium seems to have a problem with its music media replay. When I open a song file, the music id fine but the vocals sound distant, inaudible and a large amount of echo. I did download an mp3 player called morpher or something very similar but deleted after playing two songs, has this damaged my music files or my computer? I am unsure if the mp3 player is the culprit but all was fine beforehand.
I have updated the realtek driver but has made no difference to the vocal reproduction. I have also tried a system restore to a date well before the mp3 player was put onto the computer, it still made no difference.
I'm completely stumbed at the moment. I have plugged an Xbox 360 Controller to my computer which is decent gaming pc (can play Crysis on High with high fps) with Vista Ultimate 64. Recently i picked up Wanted, Lost Planet and Dead Space. Wanted keeps crashing at start up until I unplugged it and then it started to work. Lost Planet works perfectly fine... Dead space keep crashing at random when its plugged in and I'm using it to play the game. I have uninstalled and reinstalled its drivers countless times and everytime its under "Unknown" in Device Manager. I've unplugged and replugged it many times, I've installed and reinstalled the Xbox 360 accessories software and nothing seems to be fixing this. I've also used CCleaner after uninstalled to clean the registry.
I know it's the controller itself, because when I use Kb/M, I can play for hours without the game crashing. I have read a lame solution, pretty simply its the lazy solution that almost everyone keeps telling me, which to unplug the controller. But I want to use my controller for this game so that solution doesn't cut it for me. Has anyone ever encounter this problem, if so mind sharing you're solution?
For my first post I think this one will have you thinking. I have a Laptop running Vista & a PC running XP Media Centre Edition on a small network. The problem is : Both Laptop & pc can see each other in the network. From the pc I can access the shared files on the laptop, no problem. I cannot access any files on the pc when I select the pc in my network I get an error which says " Cannot access \computername. Check the spelling of the name, otherwise there may be a problem with your network. I have attempted pinging the pc from my laptop, but it keeps timing out I can ping my laptop from my pc. I opened a browser on my laptop and entered \ipaddress of the pc . I got an error. pc cannot be found. I did the same \ipaddress of the wireless router. I got an error. cannot be found. I did the same \ipaddress of the laptop. I was able to see all the files on my laptop. If you look at the image, this is my network. when I attempt to access the pc named DB that is when the problem arises.

The DT is connected to a router via a cable. The laptop is connected to the router via wireless. I have set all permissions that I can find and share wherever I can find. I can't access files on either PC from either PC. I get the message "Windows can not access \Lu-PCC" or what ever folder I try to access. When i go to pc there is no internet connection and have to reboot pc to recover and so we start again with same problemsduring all this even when the xbox cannot see the pc i can still connect to
xboxlive so the router is not the issue, it must be the network card on the pc I am thinking.

I have twp PC's a Vista Ultimate with two drives and XP Pro with two hard drives. I can access the files on the XP PC from the Vista PC, and I can access the files on the second drive (D: Drive) on the Vista PC from the XP{ PC. BUT I cannot access the files on the C: Drive of the Vista PC from the XP PC. When I look into the properties dialogue box for each drive on the Vista PC I see differences in the security options, where on the D: Drive I get "Everybody" as the Group/user name but for the C: Drive I get "Authenticated users".
View 4 Replies View RelatedRight now I have a single 640 gig HDD that everything's on. I've got a laptop too that I'm gonna be taking out on rotations eventually. I wanted to get a new smaller (250GB) HDD and put my Vista on that, so my 640 will be data only (then I could take it with me in an external enclosure and leave the desktop for my mom to use til I come back and collect it). I was gonna DBAN the 640, but I wanted to get the data off of it first- about 170 GB of stuff that I'd rather not lose.
My question is-
Can I install Vista on the smaller drive, boot with that, and access files on the other drive? Would it work if there's another Vista running on the other drive? (both SATA).
I have downloaded windows mail to my new vista prem system, as i read on here it will intergrate your accounts. I cannot however make hotmail work on this and this is my account. I am with Sky internet wise. How can i add my hotmail to my new system?

We have tried everything, even changing the cord. We have cable internet and I'm on a router/hub with 3 other people. When we try to put an IP address in and save it we go back in and see that the IP address is gone. It won't hold it.

ipconfig /renew
But all of a sudden, I cant. I talked to my ISP and they say that nothing change on their side and I still have a dynamic IP. I believe that maybe one of the updates is responsible for this, I update to SP1 and almost every update exist for vista. So, my question is, do you know maybe on an update that can cause this?
I have 4 pc''s on my network. UNfortunately 1 is vista. I can ping the other 3 pcs in vista but i cannot see/connect to them them. How the hell do you search by ip address in vista?. In xp youi simply right click on network and search. I cannot find anyway to do this in vista.

my OS is Vista Ultimate, and I get IP from dhcp server to connect Internet I mean my IP is like 10.x.x.x. When I was using XP, If I use ipconfig/release & ipconfig/renew, then I can get a new IP from dhcp. But now, the method above can't refresh my dynamic IP address. If I want to change my IP address, I must first set a static IP and connect to gateway then disable my ethernet adapter, cancel the static IP and use dhcp again. Finally, MAYBE I can get a new IP. Even I reboot or shut down my computer for a whole day. When my computer gets to dhcp server if there isn't any other computer is USING my IP then I can't get a new one. I want to know, How can I refresh my IP address easily under Vista?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWe have some new Visat pc's added to our network and all of them are showing the same problem. What happens is when the users start the pc's they get a message saying the IP address is in use and they have to go and manually change the address to get working. All the pc's are configured with static ip addresses and have been checked to make sure they are on different addresses. Has anyone got any ideas on what is causing this? I have seen one workaround which involved adding some batch files to the startup routine to swap between static and DHCP but I do not want to go down tis route.
