I can't find/open theme window to change themes.
When I right click, Personalize. I don't have a 'Theme' option to click on. I tried looking every where on how to get it back or to change themes another way. This is my last option to fix this. Here is a screen shot on what I am trying to explain.
I saw a post here asking about where to find themes for VISTA. When I went to the suggested site, I saw what looks to me like different desktop background pictures and different window colors. I can do all that without added software
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running vista basic and I'm not at all happy with the default vista theme. It' really really ugly. I dont want to upgrade to premium because I don't need the extra features(just aero).
So is there any way to add new themes? I understand that objectdesk(I think that's what it's called) will let you change themes but I don't want anything running to just change the looks of things. is there any other alternatives(even if it's just a better non aero theme)?
i cant open my theme window it says "Your system administrator has disabled launching of the Display Settions Control Panel" can someone tell me how i fix this?? pls..btw im admin so whats going on?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble applying themes in Vista. I have two user accounts set up. I am using third party software to do it (Desktop Architect). I can use Desktop Architect just fine to apply the theme on the main user's desktop. However, when I try to use Desktop Architect to apply the theme on the other user's desktop, every thing in the theme shows up fine (icons) but the desktop background picture doesn't show up. It's just black. I found out that I can fix this by right clicking on the desktop, selecting Personalize, then Themes and then select My Current Theme and clicking on apply. After that, the picture shows up just fine. However, I want to use Desktop Architect alone to change the theme on both users desktops. I don't know why it works fine for one but not the other.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista home premium - 32 bits When I got it, it didn't take me long to connect to the internet but this time when I re-installed it with the DVD that came with the laptop I couldn't Not that only, there's something that I can't recognize with the computer like for example I can't get to graphic properties by right-clicking the desktop so I assume that the DVD changes some parts Now the problem: basically it say "Windows cannot find any networks" which is opposite of when I got it and it found my network plus others quickly. My network is wireless by the way I tried to allow and enable everything on the firewall settings, haven't got to shutting it off yet Oh and I'm on the internet on my old computer so it's not a router problem

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am presently using 96SE. my ISP no longer supports this version as do some programs....my unit is not powerful enough for either xp or vista I am in my eighties and some of my colleagues tell me that vista has a pretty high learning curve, have found both windows 95 and 95se very user friendly. I can get a new unit from Dell loaded with either XP or Vista, i would like to keep current but do not want to become overwhelmed by new technology. I am not a power user but did not find the older window operating system too challenging, the tasks i presently perform are pretty basic my question is given my age and experience level could i handle Vista or should i opt for the XP version.

View 9 Replies View Relatedi was installing the Windows Mobile Device Center and i discover that my computer window change his View to Extended Tiles before that it was just Tiles and i was able to see free disk space meter and other things. now when its changed to Extended Tiles i cannot see anything moreover the icons of the drives! also every icon the a whole line! i tried to change it back to Tiles with no success.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI cannot find a windows 7 group. Im hoping that this group will work. I have a netbook with windows 7. However windows 7 has this silly feature where if you drag a window off the screen it snaps back to the
frame fo the window so it cant be half on and half off. Because this is a netbook the screen is not big so I want to drag my windows off the screen so only half shows up. How can I turn this feature off so i can have my windows dragged half off the screen.
i can't get my vista machine to open a folder in the same window. Since about 3 days ago, my folders open up in their own windows and to my knowledge, nothing has changed. The option is checked in the folders option area, but no luck. Even tried numerous registry entries with no luck as well. From what i've heard, this was an old vista bug from pre-sp1 days, but i can't seem to find a fix if any.

I _*HAD,*_ until last week, a similar numbers of sub-folders under Windows Mail *Sent*, such as "To NatWest 09" or "To Family & Friends 09". All the *Sent* file folders have now disappeared. I'm currently using Vista and Office 2007 and everytime I click on an Excel file in Microsoft Internet Explorer it opens in Explorer. How can I change this so it opens in Excel. This was fairly easy to do in XP, I just can't seem to figure out how to do it in Vista.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Windows Vista and when I connect my Hp2795b PDA to the cradle Window Mobile Device Center does not open. I installed the WMDC 6.1 and it still does not open. When I go to the start menu it is not listed there. When I go to the Add/remove programs in the control panel it is not listed there. If I go to WindowsMobile folder in the Windows folder there is a wmdSync.exe that when opened does not open an interface. It does show up in the task manager but only when I manually execute it from the folder that it is in. When I go to the Control Panel there is an Icon for WMDC that when opened pops up a box that asks me to allow USB connections and even says "Device Connected". When I click ok nothing further happens. I can view the device and what is on it in Windows Explorer. But since the
WMDC will not open, I am unable to sync anything.
I am still looking for an answer to my question about minimizing. My minimizing will not last, in particular the webmail. Once I open a new window, the minimized page just vanishes.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOur main wireless internet connection has stopped working on one of the Dell laptops. It works fine on the other and the Mac. When attempting to connect, a "login dialog" appears where it asks for the user, pass and domain. I remember this happening to both Dells (Vista) when we first got the wireless router and the workaround was to manually create the connection.
I'm not sure what has happened to cause this laptop to stop connecting automatically, but I thought a good fix would be to manually create the connection again. Problem is, when I go to the Network window and click on "Network and Sharing Center" a new window briefly appears then disappears. Why is it doing this & how can I fix it??
