I don't know how I got this from the navigation pane that I was used to which had lots more folders which I did use to drag and drop files from the main window to either of these folders.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I launch MY Computer, the navigation pane on the left "USED TO" display a Favorites List. It has now disappeared! When I right click on the pane and select, "Restore Default Favorite Links" nothing happens. Also, when I try to drag and drop and "create shortcut here" nothing happens. The pane is listed as EMPTY. The My Favorite Links folder is still on my C: drive with all my favorite shortcuts in it. :confused:... Has anyone else run into this little Vista annoyance and found a solution?

View 9 Replies View Relatedi was installing the Windows Mobile Device Center and i discover that my computer window change his View to Extended Tiles before that it was just Tiles and i was able to see free disk space meter and other things. now when its changed to Extended Tiles i cannot see anything moreover the icons of the drives! also every icon the a whole line! i tried to change it back to Tiles with no success.

When I right click, Personalize. I don't have a 'Theme' option to click on. I tried looking every where on how to get it back or to change themes another way. This is my last option to fix this. Here is a screen shot on what I am trying to explain.
I can log onto Facebook but any navigation away from the home page causes it to shut down. I have ren the virus scan, cleared my cache, but no luck. What to do next? I am also awaiting word from Facebook, though I dont think they will answer.
View 7 Replies View RelatedAny time i open internet explorer or click on a link in a page, instead of showing my home page or the page relevant to the link I clicked, i get a navigation error "Navigation to website canceled". It then goes to the login page for LinkedIn. I am a LinkedIn subscriber but have never set this as an option for my home page.
I have also cleared all my internet history (cookies etc). Once the LinkedIn homepage has loaded I can click back then refresh the page and the page I wanted will display (usually). How can I stop this from happening? I have Vista Home Premium, Office 2007 and IE7 on a Sony Vaio
a new vista system, and I cannot get into my email or access some secured sites. I have an XP system with IE7 and it is working fine to get to these sites. I have cleared all the caches, history, temp, etc., did not fix. I have checked all the various SSL including 1.0, did not fix. I have pulled down firewall, did not fix. Of course, put it back up. I have added secure site to list and unchecked require authentication, did not fix. I wish I could download the certificate - but I cannot get to the site! When clicking continue to site, the navigation blocked appears and will not allow me to proceed. I have unchecked the two URL certificate required settings, did not fix. I have tried to download firefox/other browers - will not let me - says downloaded but not done! Also, there is no system restore point - this is a brand new machine. Cannot find any definitive hot fix info on this from microsoft. I have done a complete brower reset, did not fix.
View 6 Replies View RelatedSay you have a folder called "Indie Music". It has 300 subfolders with music files (say X, Y, Z, etc.). I want to delete subfolder Y and then have the focus go to X or Z (the previous or the following subfolder). But after deleting Y, my focus is jumping back to "Indie Music", every single time. How am I supposed to keep track of where I was within my 300 subfolders and know which subfolder to focus on next when all I can see is the parent folder? Also, when i rename one of my 300 subfolders, the focus stays with that subfolder after the rename. If I rename "GGGG" to "ZGGG", the focus has gone to "ZGGG", right at the bottom of the tree, and again I have no idea where I was before.
Basic housekeeping with these subfolders has become impossible. I have given up on arranging and managing my music, pictures, etc. and have to transfer all my work folders to another PC where I can work and also keep some sanity. Is there a setting to keep the focus on the previous or next subfolder after deleting or renaming instead of taking it back to the parent folder? I had no choice (Vista or XP) when I bought my new laptop,and I spent hours (that I don't have!) trying to find my way around Vista.
No sound: it's just not working, and whenever I try to change the volume from the taskbar, a window pops up saying "Volume Control Applet is not responding". Also when I right-click on the sound icon and go to 'playback devices' and then go to the recording tab, it freezes (the window) and says "Windows Shell Common dll is not responding. (I don't know if this is related but my iTunes isn't working, I double-click to listen but the little time bar at the top doesn't move at all, but the window does not freeze)
View 9 Replies View RelatedI keep getting a yellow exclamation point on windows start navigation sound I can go in and select it and it works for the time it is selected. but as soon as I reboot the yellow exclamation point comes back how do I fix this can someone help me please it annoying and aggravating to have to turn that on all the time. I even did a system restore back to yesterday thinking I did something to it no go still dose it. nothing else broken all works good sound everything just not this one.

Why is the Explorer window showing different filenames than the command line window? It's not so much of an issue, as I'm currently completing a scheduled backup of this drive using Nero Burning ROM, and will be formatting it soon.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm not sure what I have done but the left hand pane in which shows the list of folders (inbox, sent, deleted etc) in windows mail has completely disappeared.
I have tried rebooting, I have tried going into layout and making sure the folder list is checked but it will just not come back. They folders are still there as I can get to them through the folder bar option. If I uncheck the folders list box the folder bar shows a drop done menu with the folders.
I have a habit to see the date of delete of the files in recycle bin before i permanently erase them. Each time i open the recycle bin folder, the right pane view is always in Tiles mode, even i have changed it to Details mode. Vista has totally no memory about this. That is not something very difficult but i do not know why xp can do it, but vista cant !
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have 2 Hard Drives - 1 for OS the other for Data. Since all my data is on disk D I wanted to change the Documents, Music, and Pictires links on the rhs of the start pane to point to the new location. i did that OK by using properties, move location.however I stuffed it up by changing where "Videos" points. "videos is a link under the users on c:. Anyway, I sent it to the wrong place. When I tried to fix it my documents, pictures and music links were all lost. Somehow i've managed to re-establish the Documents link to point to the correct place (on the Data HDD) but I can't change Music or Pictures. They are just empty and do nothing. If I point to them and right click and select properties there is no "Location" tab, and in fact there is nothing at all.The links are OK in "Favourite Links" when Computer window is open, but they are dead on my start panel right hand side. All the other items in that panel are OK. How can I reset those links to point where I want.

I know that if I click to the far right of the e-mail list the Preview Pane will be empty and a message will show that says "There is no message selected." I'm pretty sure it's possible and all I have to do is modify a system file or some ****, but where would I go about doing such a thing?
Above picture isn't mine, due to my print screen not working, but I have near all of the right panes contents off (via Start Menu Properties), thus why I'm wanting to put my own custom shortcuts there.
The pic is fairly self-explanatory, but as you can see on the left hand side in the folders pane, there is 2 of nearly every folder.
View 9 Replies View RelatedThe folder list is no longer displayed in the left hand pane in Windows Mail (apart from Local folders, Inbox and Newsgroups). In order to navigate to my other folders, I have to click on Local Folders, when they are displayed in the message pane. I can then open any folder but cannot transfer files to the folder from the inbox.
