Open New Window, Minimized Page Vanishes
Feb 6, 2009I am still looking for an answer to my question about minimizing. My minimizing will not last, in particular the webmail. Once I open a new window, the minimized page just vanishes.

View 4 RepliesI have just noticed a minimized window on the taskbar with no name but only a folder icon. If I click it, a black screen appears in the top left corner of the screen with no border. Right clicking does nothing. I have just installed Diskeeper and suspect it may be the culprit.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that if you follow these steps, the cursor isn't on the file anymore:
1) Open a folder with some files.
2) Click on a file. Pressing the arrow keys should move the file selection around (I call this the cursor).
3) Minimize the window.
4) Restore the window.
5) The cursor isn't on the file anymore. The current selected file has a gray background. Pressing arrow keys have no effect on the file selection. Does anyone know how to fix this?
The thumbnails that appear when you move the cursor over minimized applications or windows now don't show the contents of the window properly, apart (it seems!) from Windows Mail....all the others are blank with a small square icon in the middle. Anyone noticed that?

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe actual question regards IE8. I just recently came back to IE8, and I got into the habit of hitting the center mouse button on my daily 3 favorites folders. Each one opens maybe= 6 web pages. The trouble is it opens each page two or more times. ie: If there= were only one page in the folder and I used the center mouse button to open = that single page, it might open that page 2 or 3 times with the single click.
I browsed one page of IE8 bugs, and found nothing on this. So how do I = get it to stop at opening just the single links in each favorite folder only = once ? The title above. This appeared as a price for support. I've bought cars = that cost less. Is anyone actually paying for support from a telemarketer in = India at these prices ? I spent an entire day online with support with someone I could barely
understand, and never got the problem fixed awhile back.
When I open the hotmail.com page, I see in the live id field someoneelse's account adress. Instead I am supposed to see my own account adress, as a cookie should keep
that. Now I dont know what is going on... I use vista ultimate with AVG. I leave my laptop open during the midnight for emule. I use wireless internet conenction and it is unsecured. My vista ultimate has the sp1 and latest updates, with firewall on... In these conditions can someone reach and use the hotmail from my computer? What is going on? If I cannot get a sensible answer, I will start to doubt if someone breaks in my home during the day and use my laptop, when I am at work.
When reading an email using Windows Mail,if the text in the body of that email contains an email address,is it possible to double click on that address and have Windows Mail open automatically with a blank reply page?
This operation used to work OK with XP & OE however using Vista & Windows Mail it only pops up a message stating that the program is not associated. Clicking on an email address in a web page using IE8 works fine, it opens up a Windows Mail reply page.
I am currently running Vista Ultimate (32 bit) with an Intel E6400 chip and 4 gig of ram. When I open an Excel file and go to the page set-up, my screen start pulsating and it is difficult to get the drop-down menues to work. At the
same time I have a small circle that indicates the program is grinding away. I have had similar issues with Word when I try to print an envelope. This has also happened with other software applications such as Quicken 2008. Rebooting the machine temporaily solves the problem, but not alway.
I can get the right click drop down menu's 'View source' to always open a web page in MS Frontpage instead of Notepad? This is when I have a web page of a site I'm working with open on my screen in IE7. I use Windows Vista Home Premium. You could easily achieve this with WinXP using TweakUI but I don't know how to do it in Vista. Reason I want to do this is because the 'Edit with' button at taskbar at top of screen always greys out after any refresh of the page. Is there a registry tweak would let me fix this? Prefer not to have to install an entire tweaking program just for this one change.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEvery so often, and for no apparent reason, my Start Navigation sound will go away. This is the click sound you get whenever you click on something in an Explorer window or web page. It's easy enough to fix on the face of it - open the Sounds control panel, find the Start Navigation entry, which will be showing a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark, meaning it can't find the file. Click Browse, select "Windows Navigation Start.wav" and all done. Easy (doesn't really explain why windows couldn't find it though).
From that point on, every time I bring up an Open or Save As dialog in Office 2000, everything I click on produces a Ding! This is the standard Windows Ding.wav, listed in Sounds as Default Beep. If I then disable...........
Vista Business + SP1. Very recently on opening Command Prompt ordinary or Administrator it flashes up briefly and then vanishes. THis happens whatever mode I use to open it. Start/Run/system32 etc.
I tried system restore but no joy. I can in fact get round this as I have put into System 32 the Cmd file from XP and this works as does the similar from W2000 but I would like to get my Vista one back. I cant see anything except it flashes up for two seconds so its there . Is this a corrupt registry entry. I did run SFC but no joy.
i can't get my vista machine to open a folder in the same window. Since about 3 days ago, my folders open up in their own windows and to my knowledge, nothing has changed. The option is checked in the folders option area, but no luck. Even tried numerous registry entries with no luck as well. From what i've heard, this was an old vista bug from pre-sp1 days, but i can't seem to find a fix if any.

When I go to the start menu it is not listed there. When I go to the Add/remove programs in the control panel it is not listed there. If I go to WindowsMobile folder in the Windows folder there is a wmdSync.exe that when opened does not open an interface. It does show up in the task manager but only when I manually execute it from the folder that it is in. When I go to the Control Panel there is an Icon for WMDC that when opened pops up a box that asks me to allow USB connections and even says "Device Connected". When I click ok nothing further happens. I can view the device and what is on it in Windows Explorer. But since the
WMDC will not open, I am unable to sync anything.
I open up window update it opens up with a blank explorer window. it stays open till i force it to close with windows task manager. it forces it to close while restarting my entire explorer at the same time, and it closes out some programs sometimes when it does it too.

Our main wireless internet connection has stopped working on one of the Dell laptops. It works fine on the other and the Mac. When attempting to connect, a "login dialog" appears where it asks for the user, pass and domain. I remember this happening to both Dells (Vista) when we first got the wireless router and the workaround was to manually create the connection.
I'm not sure what has happened to cause this laptop to stop connecting automatically, but I thought a good fix would be to manually create the connection again. Problem is, when I go to the Network window and click on "Network and Sharing Center" a new window briefly appears then disappears. Why is it doing this & how can I fix it??

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I open a folder that contains a large number of files they are off the "viewable" window area. I end up having to use the handles to resize the window so I can see all my files. When I close the window and reopen it, it has reverted back to the small size and I have to resize it again. This doesn't happen on my XP machine a home. Is there a way to make the resized window remain the size I need it? Or is this a quirk of Vista?
